Do not waste your money to take test at this driving school! If you have not taken lessons at this location, they will fail you for sure. I took the test here and with a warm-up lesson. I have actually being driving for years in LA and the only reason for me to take the test is because I did not change it to WA license before my CA license expired. The instructor, Akmal took off points arbitrarily, including in categories like General driving - Attention, vision and keeping distance. For the record, I was focusing on the road the entire time and turning my head to check blind spot so just to be visible to the instructor.   The instructor did not give comment on any mistakes I made during or after the test. He conveniently set the points at 75. He even went back to deduct more points just to ensure it's below the 80 mark. When I asked him to explain the scoring he flat out refused.   A friend of mine had a similar experience in testing passed after he took 6 lessons. This is how they scam you for money. If you do not take lessons here, your will not pass. I'm filing a complaint to BBB. For the meantime, do not waste your money at this school. read more

I see some mixed reviews on Yelp, but I can honestly say I had a fantastic experience with Defensive Driving School (West Seattle). I primarily worked with Val. She really took the time to tailor the lessons to my needs. I went into my first lesson very nervous to be in the road and left my final lesson a fully confident driver and confident that I would pass my test, which I did. Val was very supportive throughout each lesson always focused on the positives that came out of each lesson. This helped to build my confidence despite getting things wrong along the way. I also worked with Marty on a few lessons as well as on the test. He is another fantastic instructor who really took the time to walk me through the things I was doing right, as well as the things I was doing wrong. It was a little pricey for the package that I purchased, but certainly in my experience the value was delivered and I cannot recommend highly enough, hence the 5* rating! Thanks again! read more

During my first visit, Katrina guided me on the process of getting a license. She gave me a handbook to study so I will be ready for my exams and advised me to get a DOL express account. Katrina was my proctor at the time when I took the exams. She gave clear instructions and patiently waited for me until I completed the test. She further guided me how to get my instruction permit online. I enrolled in a 1 hour driving class, wished I had more hours coz Katrina taught me a lot of safety and dos and donts in driving. She's very detailed and systematic in her instructions ensuring that I comprehend it. She corrected my bad driving habits and let me understand the consequences of I don't correct myself. I did not take driver's ed here but I did take my knowledge test and my drive test. I don't know the name of the guy who administered my knowledge test, but he was straightforward, clear, and accommodating of a tester who didn't speak English (allowing his relative to translate for him because the translation of the test is often not clear (which is a problem in itself but that's government for you)). I took my road test with Marty, with a lesson beforehand to get used to the car since I was driving theirs. He was helpful, nice, and I felt really comfortable. The test went super smoothly (like 15 minutes long). He was kind and encouraging during the lesson and when I passed. I was worried I'd have some cruel old person who takes out their regrets on drivers, but that was not the case. Great experience! read more

Marty was a great instructor to learn from. I am from Japan and had never driven before. He follows covid guidelines strictly, clearing the seats each after class and car windows are slightly open etc. He is very approachable. He uses some directions ( like right and left) in Japanese and I enjoyed small talk with him during the classes. He is very knowledgeable and patient. His attention to detail was excellent. It was helpful he adjusted sun visor while I drove. After 12 lessons with Marty, I had a 20 minutes practical test. Marty was a examiner as well and he was very professional yet made me relaxed time to time. All in all, I strongly recommend Marty for a driving instructor. read more

I had instructor Clay for the online zoom classes, they were very informative. He was easy to understand, and never tried to overcomplicate any of the content, good vibes and overall an awesome teacher. The in class activities and the notebook the school mailed were really helpful for remembering the content. For my drives I had instructor Nathan, who is also extremely supportive and guided me throughout the driving process. He is always so calm which is extremely appreciated when starting out as a new driver. Although the school is pricey, I don't regret learning how to drive here. I feel like I wouldn't have learned as much as I did in such short time if it wasn't for them. read more
