I have gotten my driver's license a few years ago in CA and have been driving in WA with my CA license until it expired. I forgot to change my CA license to WA license, thus I need to retake a driving test in WA. I took a 30min warm-up lesson and passed the driving test today! I have previously done warm-up + test at a different driving school and failed, so I think I can provide some comparisons between the two experiences. Though I might be biased due to the different results, but I will try to be as impartial as possible. Jason, the owner and instructor at Street Law Driving School, was completely honest and up-front with me. During the warm-up, there was a stop sign where I did not come to a full stop and Jason told me in a test that would have disqualified me so that I can pay attention to that in the test. Also Jason helped me to improve in the back-maneuvering and parallel parking, the two sections that I got points of in my previous test. He gave simple but clear instructions on the steps I needed to take to perform those two tasks and asked me to repeat a few times until I have them nailed down all by myself. At the driving school where I took my previous test, the instructor simply went over the steps as if quoting out of an instruction manual without providing any feedbacks on what I did wrong, then took off points during the test. After the test, Jason went over the points that I missed in detail to make sure I actually have them remembered for my own safety. All of the points Jason took off make sense in the hindsight and are clearly explained. Whereas, in my previous test, the examiner just flat-out refused to provide any explanation for the points taken off and told me I'm a hazard to the road. I highly recommend Street Law Driving School to anyone, especially people who are in similar situation as I do. Jason holds the same standard as any examiner is expected to do, but at the same time, he also shows great compassion and wants to ensure the success of his students for their own safety, whereas, I find many other big-name driving schools mostly care about how to sell you more classes. Just for that alone, Jason and Street Law Driving School deserve all my recommendations. read more

I had a great experience taking my driver's test here. It was my third try (previous attempts were at a different school) and I was really nervous, but Mr. Law was patient and encouraging when we did the warm-up. I drove outside the US before and some of the road terminology and conventions here (like all-way stop signs or turning right on a red light) are foreign to me. Unlike past driving lessons at other schools, he didn't make me feel like a certain road rule or parking technique should be obvious, instead he made normal conversation during the drive, told me I was doing a great job and that I was ready to do the test. Once I did the test I was a lot more relaxed and I passed with a great score! I was thrilled to get my US driver's license and highly recommend Mr. Law as a teacher. read more

I did and passed my driving test today. I also paid for a warm-up session, since I had a license from a different country and I thought it would be the best idea to get familiar with the test. That completely paid off. Jason is very friendly and professional, gave me all the tips and told me what should I expect in the actual test. I'm probably not a typical customer for driver's ed. I'm a busy professional who managed to make it to my late 20s without a driver's license. And between early meetings, business dinners, and day to day errands, it was starting to catch up with me- everything just takes longer. Then Uber came along, and let me defer the inevitable for a few years. And meanwhile, Washington state has made it an unprecedented pain in the ass to get a license. But who cares about all the time it takes, because you're just taking it from high-schoolers, right? I looked around at driving schools. Most I called were downright rude: they're used to treating 16 year old 'captive participants' as poorly as they want. I called Street Law, based on the reviews. When I had to get the knowledge test done, and Jason's schedule didn't intersect with mine, he pointed me to a competitor with walk-in hours. The competitor was, predictably, rude and awful, but it got done. And thanks to Jason, I was able to schedule a road test, at an inconvenient hour that just happened to work for me. Having deferred this life milestone for over a decade, and with my permit due to expire, I was nervous- and mistakes were made. The kind that no one would bat an eye at seeing on the road, but this is a test, and a strict one. And rightfully, I failed by a small number of points. I had taken the test a year ago at a different place and failed by a single point for nebulously explained reasons- after which I was aggressively sold expensive and time consuming driving lessons. Jason obviously takes this very seriously, and explained that although I was in his opinion a safe driver, it's not subjective- I must pass the clear framework laid out by the DOL. And then he sat with me, the hour getting far later than our planned appointment, to explain what I missed, and offered me the opportunity to retake it the same appointment. He even charged less for the retake. And once again, we did the whole involved thing- light check, hand signals, the works. By the book. And I passed. Procedural obligations like driver's ed are the kind of things that keep me up at night. Jason took time out of his schedule to help me get this done safely AND efficiently, and I owe him time out of mine to leave a glowing review. As an aside, it is immediately evident that Jason and Street Law treat their obligation to safety as a civic imperative- not a profit center. I would not hesitate to send my family here, and I have immense confidence in them to instill safety and judge objectively. I arrived at the tail end of a class he was teaching, and the kids seemed to be having an absolute blast learning about what, to me, is one of the dullest- but most important- subjects on earth: road safety. read more

Jason's prices are the most reasonable I found across the board, and I liked that he was a one-man shop, so it'd feel more personable for something that can be as nerve-wracking as the driving test. His online appointment system is fast and easy to use, and he's quick in answering your questions by phone. My son & daughter took the driving class and learned a lot. The class is educational, informative & fun. The cost is very reasonable. Mr. Law is a great teacher, he is patient, calm, and kind when driving with the students. My son said he liked the classes; he said they would have a slide show & Mr. Law would talk to them about the lesson and then they would watch a video to reinforce what they just learned. My son & daughter liked the way Mr. Law teaches because it kept them interested & focused. My teens enjoyed the class and recommended the class to there friends. MR Law is the best instructor ever,recommending to everyone!

I will say I am a fan because I think that the owner really does try and bring the material to a student at his or her level. I don't think that it is the most "professional" driving school, but really I think that most kids kind of tune out the big driving schools because they are pretty boring. The owner is pretty tech savy and used some utube vidos for the kids to watch that emphasised some things. He is SUPER flexible, and willing to work with you. I do think that my student did learn some good things in his class. read more
