But she didn't understand. i'm not quite sure what kind of massage she was doing. It did not feel therapeutic and it didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. felt the masseur was not trained well. I got up 30 mins into massage, got dressed, paid and I left. Talking with Andrea, I knew that she was astutely understanding what I wanted, what I needed, and what I didn't want in the treatment. My second visit included a seaweed wrap followed by a massage. Saying it was wonderful is an understatement. The seaweed wrap was a unique experience of several different textures and temperatures. It was great to just relax and experience the process up until the final blanket and wrap. Even though one can feel vulnerable being nearly naked and covered in goop getting wiped down, I never once felt uncomfortable or overexposed with Andrea. Her professionalism and mastery of the process made me feel completely at ease and fully taken care of. The massage was exquisite--and i so wish that i had opted for the loner session time! She seeks out and works through knots and tightness in a relaxed and purposeful way. More thank being kneaded on a table, she moved limbs and used the weight of them to fully articulate the massage techniques. I felt a release of muscle tension like I have not experienced before. While the waiting area of this multi-therapist center is a bit on the business office side, her spacious treatment room is right in line with what you would find in a destination spa treatment room. Appropriate lighting, a well-appointed table with comfortable attachments, and a thoughtful area to place your personal items. I work hard and I treat myself but I also need to take care of my body. I've been seeing Andy for about 10 years now. I saw her first in the Bay Area for severe carpal tunnel-esque complications from typing in my lower right hand/arm. After one session, it was gone and I've never returned to a wrist brace. I also suffer from teeth grinding/TMJ and she gave me special attention there which I had never experienced. Then a few years later I got hit by a car. She worked with me for two years after, realigned my body (mostly hips), and helped restore feeling in my lower back side after severe muscle, tissue, and nerve damage. I saw her for general massage after until she moved to Portland, Oregon. Luckily, I go to PDX often and have seen her there where she's still the best. She really has an unparalleled knowledge of anatomy and healing modalities/techniques. I have gone to fancy spas in St. Helena, Calistoga, San Francisco, Asheville, NYC, New Mexico, etc etc. She is THE ONE. A true healer. She listens to what you say, focuses on those areas, doesn't do filler nonsense- she works on you THE WHOLE time and is fully present, not just going through the motions.
