I have been going to La Cosecha in the Midtown Global Market ever since they opened 3 years ago…read more Why? They have a great selection of hot sauces. I dont mean Pace picante sauce (barf!) nor do I mean pico de gallo, which I consider more of a garnish than an actual salsa. I mean tiny bottles filled with potent and tangy sauces every color of the rainbow. Tapatio, Dave's Gourmet Insanity, Cholula, and my all-time favorite: Green Yucateco. La Cosecha does an excellent job of keeping their shelves stocked with all my favorites and then some. I tried an avocado/habanero salsa here recently that was delicious. Besides keeping me in fire-breathing intensity, La Cosecha carries all kinds of Latin American staple foods that I want from Central and South America. They stretch from the Mexican north (tamale husks, steamers, stone mortar & pestle sets) all the way to the southern tip of Chile (frying dough for cheese empanadas).

He explained to me that Latins use thin strips of ribs for soups and stuff, interesting. I told him I wanted a big piece to grill and he went into the walk in and procured what looked like a whole pig! He cut down a huge slab of ribs for me and my BBQ day was saved. Can't say if it tasted good cos I don't eat pork but my BF scarfed them down so I'm guessing it was tasty. Price was very reasonable too. I've also bought stuff from the store here like dried chili's and plantains. Stuff you can't always get a a regular grocery store, they seem to have here as far as Latin food goes. Great asset to the MGM!

Oh heaven help me that price tag. Ouch! DX…read more We were at a nearby events with friends who were hungry, so we debated where to eat and landed here cuz a sub sounded good to us all. I really wasn't prepared to spend $15 on a single sandwich though. Listen, everything about this place was fine. Including the sandwich itself (I got the Adult Club cuz I love me some chicken salad, but I should've asked to have the bread toasted... it really wasn't all that sourdoughy in taste either??). I just can't quite get over the amount it cost. Which I guess might be why there aren't any prices listed on the menu signs. Like, my hubbie and I DIDN'T get drinks or chips or a side or dessert. None of that. Just a sandwich for the each of us and it was $30. If we had added stuff, I bet we'd've run the bill up to $50 in no time. For lunch! Gotta be trippin'! I like supporting small local business when I can but I think this place isn't in my budget. Sorry. :( But the employees were nice, the ambiance was cool, the tables were clean, large selection of drinks, very tempting looking desserts, even ice cream, and a community board. If money isn't a concern that factors into your decisions, absolutely patronize this joint. I'll just be jealous.

Ordered takeout so no notes for ambiance or service…read more I got the "Adult Club" with the potato salad. The potato salad was very good. I would've eaten another serving. Not too heavy mayo or mustard, eggs, soft potatoes with a little chew (perfectly cooked) and red bell pepper. The sandwich was great. Freshly baked bread that was soft. The chicken salad was really good. Again, a great balance of mayo, not too much. They use shredded chicken which is the way it should be done. Some different options for toppings that you don't get from those other sub chains. A great lunch. I'll be ordering again.

Going during the day is a great idea. There are also a number of security guards looking over the stores as well. It is clean, well stocked and typically there are a lot of cashiers for checking out. The produce section is pretty large and I found all the things I needed. Don't sleep on the kitchen accessories aisle, there are always some good decor there. Of course, the best part of any Aldi's is their low prices. So, stock up your cart with all the weekly groceries you need. Don't forget your cloth bags and a quarter to use the cart.

From the moment you navigate the narrow tunnel to the parking lot, to maneuvering any car larger than a Fiat into the narrow parking spaces, a potential customer is introduced to a horror of grocery shopping akin to enduring the jungles of Vietnam in 1970. Trying to retrieve a cart for your groceries is a reminder America might have seen better days. You will need a quarter to unlock your cart, and then must figure out how to free up the cart you paid for. Aldi hires people to help you, but she might be on the phone and can't take the time to assist you. Yet, you won't care, because at this particular Aldi the produce, the meat, the bread, everything, is at the lowest end possible. Only if you're suffering from famine would these groceries interest you. If you enjoy self-flagellation, you might want to shop at this Aldi.
