There's lots of cables and parts and pieces, they have cases, some keyboards, they have high-quality cables and a few woodwinds. And they have a lot of books for learning. They have a lot of Yamaha stuff here. I took my time on a Friday morning and enjoyed playing a few instruments in one of their little practice rooms. Lots of kids coming in for rock 'n' roll lessons. Daughter loved the flute and instrument was purchased at the end of the lease. Fast forward several years to High School Marching Band with that same flute. Somehow, whether it was sat on or warped when the intruments got soaked in a torential rain storm the flute had a slight bow in it. We took it to Mel Owens and they were able to straighten it, changed all the pads and serviced it as if it were a new instrument again. Fast forward again... Our daughter wanted a piccolo for her December birthday. We knew just where to go. Mel Owens of course! That piccolo was quite the hit and our daughter will always remember her birthday was kept separate from Christmas with such a special gift.

The second teacher DID teach me on an OLD and out-of-tune piano in a small cubby room. I need to write a review since no one else has. Please save yourself the time and money. While the people are as nice as can be , the shop is just a mess with their music staff. I had two teachers over a couple of months. The first guy was a distracted musician who was supplementing his income. He wasn't taking this job because he wanted to teach , but as a way to make money. He was always bailing out on the time and he never answered his phone messages or texts. I decided to go with another guy. The room was small and cramped with a crappy out of tune piano. I know he was nice , but I'm not sure he knew enough to teach. The out of tune piano was the last straw. What kind of a music store doesn't care enough to tune their pianos. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I signed up for lessons at the fair for $10. That $10 was supposed to pay for 6 one hour class…read moresessions along with 6 half hour private lessons, as well as a loaner organ to take home. But Alan was able to get an extension on the classes for an additional 4 weeks. No where have I ever gotten this much service for $10. He made it into the All Stars group and played at lots of festivals and venues around Louisville.
