My oldest was wanting a guitar of any sort for Christmas this last holiday season. My wife or me neither have a musical bone in our bodies and have never played an instrument. So we were kinda lost in the sauce on what to do here. We walked in and was greeted immediately. We explained our situation and got some advice on acoustic vs electric for forts time learners. After getting some great advice and help the worker showed us some recommended guitars that fell inside the budget range we gave him. We wanted to get her a nice guitar but didn't want to get the nicest just in case it was just a teenage faze and became a Giant paper weight. After looking at a few options we picked out a beatific looking acoustic guitar. The tremendous customer service continued after that as the worker gave us advice on getting her started with tuner apps, etc etc. mainly stuff that confused a music novice like me but it was appreciated either way. She loved her gift. We have slacked and drug our feet a bit as we haven't gotten her lessons yet. But we will soon. They actually offer lessons up there and have a huge studio on site for it. It seems like the pricing for the studio lessons is roughly about a $1 per minute. Overall cool experience that ended up being a cool and memorable Christmas present.

Update 7/3/2018 everything i wrote below is accurate. The owner has replied inaccurately. The first…read moreteacher was unprofessional. He was distracted with his lessons. The second teacher DID teach me on an OLD and out-of-tune piano in a small cubby room. I need to write a review since no one else has. Please save yourself the time and money. While the people are as nice as can be , the shop is just a mess with their music staff. I had two teachers over a couple of months. The first guy was a distracted musician who was supplementing his income. He wasn't taking this job because he wanted to teach , but as a way to make money. He was always bailing out on the time and he never answered his phone messages or texts. I decided to go with another guy. The room was small and cramped with a crappy out of tune piano. I know he was nice , but I'm not sure he knew enough to teach. The out of tune piano was the last straw. What kind of a music store doesn't care enough to tune their pianos. Don't say I didn't warn you.

But Alan was able to get an extension on the classes for an additional 4 weeks. No where have I ever gotten this much service for $10. The owners make you feel like family and let your learn at your own pace. This place is a gem and I would gladly refer everyone to try it out. I've now graduated from my beginning class and have a new found love for music. Thank you.

This is the third time I've experienced arrogant and extremely poor service at this store. I strongly recommended not visiting here. Go to Lexington or Northern Ky. They even say Louisville guitar center is awful customer service. As a ceo of a company. I would have fired the guy managing the store in second. Store was empty. 1500 transaction and he doesn't have enough time. Sad!

I understand building fundamentals but I wish the lessons were tailored to what I would like to learn. The teachers are all degree holders but that doesn't mean that they are great teachers. I took lessons with 3 different guys and they were all "meh, not inspiring." With all of them you could tell that they are not paid very well and just wanted to get to the next person and done with their day. That's not my fault because GC lessons aren't cheap. Vocal lessons were really horrible. Again all the teachers have degrees some with masters. The problem is that they are all classically trained. I don't want to sing choir or music theater. I want to sing Rock and Pop. I want to sound like Freddy Mercury or Jeff Buckley not Clay Aiken or Josh Groban. The teacher said "oh you sound like the american idol guy Kris Allen, sing this song falling slowly and i'll critique you " that's cool but I don't really like that song. So the next hour was spent working on falling slowing and him telling me to use different vowel sounds on words. Once again that's great but it was only specific to that song and genre. I know they are educated and know what they are talking about. I am not against technique. It would of been helpful if that would teach me the classical way to sing something then the stylistic way to sing it but I don't see any of these guys singing like Chris Cornell. The only thing I could see the voice lessons good for is if you have a song you know or have written and want help to perfect it they could help. Other than that waste of money and time.
