Today I explored a place that is quite literally a blast from the past. Kelsey Vintage is a clean, organized, well stocked bastion of all but forgotten treasures. Everything from the knick knacks your parents had sitting on a shelf, to toys you forgot you played with, the music of your youth, and the signs your grandparents pointed out on road trips. I was able to get two bags full of books, a twister game, stickers, balls for the treasure box, and some other assorted odds and ends for $3.50. The staff here was wonderful, so sweet and caring. If you are looking to score a deal, unload things you no longer need, and keep the planet healthy by recycling than come out and support St. Mark's.

This morning, I went to Wearluv Consignment on 801 North Lake Blvd in North Palm Beach, 33408 and…read moreencountered the owner. The door was locked even though it was during business hours, but the owner -- I believe her name is Maria -- unlocked it and let me in. I was carrying several items to consign, as her daughter, Jasmine had advised me last week to bring them in Monday through Thursday during regular hours. When I explained why I was there, she abruptly responded, "We're not taking any consignments," in a harsh, dismissive tone. I calmly replied that I would no longer be coming there, which is entirely my prerogative. Last year, I brought in a large amount of costume jewelry that she made a significant profit from. Even then, items that didn't sell were not returned, but I let it go. Still, I expected basic respect today. Instead, after my polite comment, she called me an "idiot" and began screaming -- loudly -- that she had just been robbed of $20,000 worth of high-end merchandise. While I understand she was upset, her behavior toward me was shocking and completely unprovoked. I never saw it coming. To make matters worse, she had locked the door behind me again. When I tried to leave, she unlocked it and pushed it open with attitude, holding out her hand in a gesture that made it clear she was throwing me out of the store. I have no idea what I did to deserve that treatment. What I do know is that I will never return, and no one should have to be treated that way. The owner's behavior was unprofessional, UNSTABLE, and entirely unacceptable. I thought the public should know.

We came by to check them out. They are located in a big shopping center with several restaurants and a grocery store. There's ample free parking out front. You bring items -- not on hangers -- and they let you know what they are interested in. You leave them there for their review. Depending on how busy they are, this may take an hour or so. And you can bring items in any ime during their opening hours. The advantages to bringing your wearables here are that they take brands that are popular, but not only couture. You have a much wider possibility of them accepting your clothing. They also take men's clothing. There's a sign on the wall with the things they are accepting/looking for. The biggest advantage is that they pay you cash right away for what they take. You can decide whether or but to accept it, but you don't have to wait for something to sell to receive your money. I'm sure I'll be back with another batch. This is a great way to make a few dollars.
