On day 2 of having these lashes almost 50% of them fell out. I have followed the lash instructions to a T and yet here we are. Never going back! The customer service was terrible from the time I walked in the door. The workers do not sanitize the tables nor wash their hands between clients. They do not wear mask or gloves either. The worker was breathing in my face and coughing none stop during the 2 1/2 hour process. It was freezing cold in there. My eyebrow service which was lift and tint was horrible. My eyebrows were uneven and not even done properly. During the lash extensions process my eyes started to burn and the worker just put the fan over them and said it was normal. The next day I woke up and my eyes were swollen with drainage. Half the lashes came off. I was having an allergic reaction to the glue. She never asked me if I was allergic to anything that was going to be used or if my skin was sensitive. I went back to get the lashes off and another worker told me she was booked all day and basically showed she was careless. I had to book an appointment to get the lashes removed. I waited an hour and 30 minutes for the appointment which the same worker who told me was she was booked ended up taking the lashes off. She was never booked! I had to call the company and complain to get a refund. Told me a manager would be in within an hour, The manager never showed up. The website states a consultation would be before the appointment. I was never told this. I scheduled over the phone with the call center. If I had a consultation this all could have been avoided. I missed work and money and this all was a waste of time. Now I have to wait until my eyes clear up. I also was seen in the urgent care and had to pay for an eye ointment which was $160. The absolute WORST salon I have ever been to in my life. I went and got a full set of hybrid lashes today, less than 2 hours ago. Already, I have lost over 75% of my lashes. I have been getting my lashes done for 8 years and this is the worst work I have ever seen. I called in to have them fix the situation and refund my money only to be told they don't offer refunds, ever. They even REFUSED to schedule me for a removal!!! So now I have to walk around looking like garbage. Also, I stupidly signed up for membership and now they are refusing to cancel even though I've only been a member less than 2 hours. Outrageous management! I was interviewed, offered a job, and given a start date through this company. Jennifer, who I spoke to was aware that I would be quitting my current job and moving out of state for this position. I was never contacted from the time I was offered the job, to when I moved that anything had changed. When I showed up for my first day I was then contacted by Jennifer, claiming they had no position open and they had stopped their hiring process. Well, for my first time getting eyelash extensions I would say this was a pleasant experience. I say this because I took advantage of the training model service. It was free because these girls were in training to get their skills down pat. Fine by me! I worked with Cierra and she was nothing but nice and helpful with explaining things. I went for a voluminous look but nothing crazy. It took a little less than two hours and she did so good. So far, they're in great shape. I go back with a fill with her in a couple weeks. I love this new location and their services! I had my lashes fitted by Mo and they are wonderful. I have never had so many compliments. She went way above and behind. Before she began working we explained how I usually wear my makeup, the false lashes that I buy and style, and what my ideal lashes would look like. We also discussed what lash look I dislike. She and I then made a plan that we thought would work best for me. Since it was my first time, I really felt it was best to let her experience guide us. Wow. I am so glad that I relied on MO's experiences. She put together an eyelash strip that is STUNNING. It's based on my eyelash length. She did it after measuring my length of lash. And then she used two different widths of lashes so the lashes would blend perfectly with my own and pop since my natural lashes are skinny. The amount of curl is perfect. I get so many compliments. It's exactly what I want my eyes to look like and couldn't do on my own. I choose the natural lash. My lashes still pop and look amazing. My friends and cousins are all in love with them and can't wait to get theirs done next. I highly suggest trying Deka Lash Shadyside and having Mo do your lashes. I really enjoyed having Mo do my lashes. She was really nice to talk to while doing my lashes. She was personable and relatable. Nikki at this Deka location (Centre Ave) is incredible. Not only does she do an excellent job with my lashes, but she's also a great conversationalist. Nikki deserves 5 stars. BUT Deka as an establishment is the reason why I'm knocking off 2 stars. Their membership program is kind of a rip off. I pay ~$100/month for 2 classic refills, which gives me a refill about every 2 weeks. The refills never expire but you can only use them if you're an active member (ie: paying every month, incurring more refill credits). So I'm stuck in a situation where I have 4 refills built up over the 2 years I've been coming here, but I can't use them unless I pay my membership fee which only incurs MORE credits I called Deka headquarters to see if there's a work around to use up my existing credits without buying more, but there is none and the individual I talked to seemed mad that I was even asking. Soooo long story short, the memberships trap you into a regimented lash refill schedule which is can be great but can also waste your money. read more

Visit one: This is my first time getting extensions and I had no idea what to expect. The stylist did not tell me about different lengths of lashes. The end product looked pretty good but I could never comb through the lashes and some they began to fall out in chunks. There was a large gap in my lashes and some of them were crossing and would not straighten out. Visit two: I told this stylist what my issues were and she informed me this should not happen. She cleaned and removed the lashes and then put new ones on. They looked great. She said she could have filled them in more but since she had to remove so many we were strapped for time. Fast forward 2 hours.... HALF of the lashes already fell out. Very frustrated. I am going back today to have them fixed but I would not recommend this location to anyone. read more

I first want to say that the technician I worked with was wonderful. But that is where the wondeful stops. Please if you are considering this stop and research your options. First and foremost your lashes will be compromised when the time comes to stop filling them. Even if you only do it for a short period. Two do NOT get a membership with them OR be super aware as they do not tell you at time of sign up that it is 30 day cancelation policy. I will spare explaining to how unhelpful the person I spoke with was regarding this matter. Third I will tell you that their cancelation policy and reservation online system is criminal in the way that they charge your account. I witnessed it happen on two occasions to two seperate customers. Bottom line is be informed. I wish I had. If you still wish to get your lashes I would suggest looking elsewhere with a more customer orientated membership. read more

I'm writing 2 reviews for Deka Lash, one for my first visit and one for my second visit. First visit was great! I had a Groupon which made for a great deal, checking in was easy, and Charlotte was wonderful to work with. She greeted me, asked me what lash sizes and overall look I was going for, and she was talkative and pleasant throughout the experience. I was pleased with both the results and customer service. A few weeks later, I went on their website to check out pricing and book a refill. Deka has weird pricing and since it's a franchise with locations all over the states, I guess the prices vary by location. To clarify and find out what membership means, I called the Shadyside location. The girl who answered told me you don't have to pay extra to become a member and that a refill would be $55, so I book an appointment and although their schedule online showed an opening with Charlotte on my preferred day, she told me they were booked that day, so I had to choose a different one. I was running 5 minutes late and kept trying to call to tell them that but no one was answering the phone after several rings. I also emailed and texted with no response. When I arrived, K. did not greet me at all and she did not ask me anything about how I wanted the lashes to look. She was pretty quiet throughout the whole experience. She finished very quickly, in fact, I was surprised by how quickly she finished. The lashes look fine but there are quite a few where she could have put an extension on them. We go up front to check out and she doesn't ask me about membership or anything. I end up having to pay full price and at first, she entered a tip amount that was much higher than what I wanted to give for a tip so she had to reswipe my card a few times. I was confused because she had added the tip on to the base price instead of allowing the customer to add it on the tip screen. The price of this second visit was much too high to make this a sustainable place to get lashes done at, so I'll be going to a non-franchised place across town with better prices from now on. read more

I have never had my eyelashes done before and was so nervous to get them done, but had my wedding coming up and wanted to look more elegant and done up for the big day. I trusted Kayla, and wow did she come through. My lashed looked AMAZING for my wedding AND for my honeymoon. Of course, I was extra careful with my lashes and was delicate when washing my face, and avoided wearing much eye makeup other than my wedding day (I wore lots of eyeliner and had my makeup done professionally) and everything still looked great! Kayla is super sweet and so nice to talk to, she was so helpful through the process, especially since I was not sure what to expect. The lash extensions I had on from somewhere else were actually too big for my natural lashes to hold. She suggested I go to a different size because the size I currently had was negatively affecting my natural lashes. Very unprofessional. Spoke with a customer service manager named Sarah who would not refund or extend my lash benefits due to Covid 19. Extremely unreasonable that I can't use these benefits in the future during a time of pandemic so I'm losing hundreds of dollars. Filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. This business is going against all safe distancing protocols in place by the CDC and it is shameful that they will not extend benefits or refund money due to a global pandemic. read more

I am very anti Yelp and yelp reviews but it has been 3 months since my visit to Deka for lash extensions and this morning I pulled out more, what I can only guess is glue from my eye. While I was getting my procedure for extensions done I felt an immediate burning sensation in my right eye while they were glueing the lashes on. Then in the following days had a red burn on my eye and was told it was a chemical burn. I have never called Deka about it bc I was just going to let it go. Flash forward to August and I had a continual stye in that same eye on and off for a month. I went to the doctor and they told me I had pink eye. But I kept getting the stye. Ever since I had the extensions put in I had felt like there was something in that eye and I told the doctor but he still said pink eye. Well that same month it really felt like I had something in my eye. That's when I started to find the glue in my eye. It was a nightmare and it kept peeling out off of my eyeball. After that I thought ok maybe the nightmare is over. Well I'm September I still had a couple of styes but didn't think much of it. Then this morning, a month later when I was in the shower I wiped my eye and another piece of the glue came out. I felt it was time to leave a dreaded yelp review just if it can help some people out! I flat out was robbed by Deka Lash. I have called multiple times over the past year, trying to cancel, while still being charged. I have not gone since before the pandemic and they did absolutely nothing to help with cancelling during. I specifically got to the point where on my third time cancelling I had to state that I would not be hanging up until I was informed every detail of my debit card was off. Fast forward and I am still being charged. They say they apologize and will cancel right away, however can not compensate me for what they have been charging (in the months that were already supposed to be cancelled!!!) They claim I have 60 days to use remaining credits. Even though I have 6 months of "credit" from when I originally cancelled and demanded my card be removed. They have also informed me since I have the "basic" membership, that the credits will only equal to one full full and then a little left over. So somehow, 6 months (one refill each month) only will compensate me with ONE set. How does this make sense? I do not know. Along with that, the basic membership is $55. I have always been charged that. Somehow, after I cancelled and they Continued to charge me multiple times...my payments each month out of my bank have been $64.50. When asked where this number even came from, I got no response. 30 minutes on the phone with the lady at shadyside location and she was absolutely zero help. Hundreds of dollars down, after I was supposed to be taken out of the system in august, and the best they can do is cancel now (who knows if they actually will since they didn't before) end give me ONE set?? When repeatedly asking who higher up I can talk to, she said she was the only one. A front desk girl at one location is the highest up? I don't think so. This has now happened to me and a close friend. I would like to say that I very much enjoyed my time when I as getting them done, however the membership and customer support is horrid. Moral of the story: DO NOT get a membership with Deka Lash....they will steal your money give nothing but a "sorry can't do anything now" in return. read more

The quality of my lash application has been fine. However, I left my most recent appointment feeling deeply offended, disappointed and confused. I hadn't seen this technician before, but I have seen several different lash technicians and it has always gone very well. The appointment started off on the wrong foot as the technician was about 20 minutes late. I understand good lashes take time, but no one came out to let me know about the delay or to recognize that I had arrived at all (I did check in on the touch screen). If that was the only thing that happened, I wouldn't have minded at all. The technician read from the notes in my file that the previous technician had written, noting our conversation about my dogs and my wife and the length and style of lashes I like (mostly 12 C with some 11 and 13) and began the appointment. During my appointment, the technician let me know that the shop was out of 12 C's and that she would have to use 13s instead. If I had known that there were no 12 Cs available, I would have rescheduled. Using mostly 13 Cs, left me with lashes that are too long for me-- 2nd disappointment. It doesn't make sense to me that a lash shop wouldn't have lashes available or that they wouldn't contact customers using that size before an appointment to reschedule. During the appointment, the technician had to leave her station several times to assist other lash technicians, leaving me waiting for her to return. I understand needing to assist others, but with the appointment already late, I felt it was rude to ask me to continue to wait. I felt like I was not made to be a priority, despite having scheduled my appointment in advance. The technician and I chatted during the appointment, but at several points the conversation was so uncomfortable, inappropriate and offensive. The technician made several comments that were homophobic, transphobic and really very personal and invasive. Knowing that the previous technician had put in my notes that I am married to a woman, I was shocked that the technician would think that it was acceptable to be so derogative about LGBTQ individuals. She asked questions about whether my wife and I would have children (which is an overly personal but not inappropriate question) and when I mentioned that we would use a sperm donor she asked how that would work and then said she thought the best thing to do would just have sex with a man (VERY OFFENSIVE). She also made comments about men dressed as women and how they are decieving straight men, are dishonest and should have to tell everyone up front "that they have a dick". These were just a few of the comments that she made. In any other situation, I would have spoken up about how inappropriate I felt these comments to be, but when you're lying with your eyes close and someone has their hands on your face, you feel so vulnerable and I was afraid to upset someone performing a service on my face. I choose to wear lashes because the process and the look makes me feel more comfortable and confident. This appointment deeply offended me and left me feeling demoralized and small. At check out, the technician insinuated that I had an unpaid bill and was not able to figure out how to balance out my account and charge me for the appointment. Turns out, she just needed to charge me for the appointment and I did not have any unpaid bills. I was embarrassed at the front counter and really frustrated that I was already running behind because my appointment started late and now I was standing in the lobby feeling so offended and humiliated being accused of not paying my bills and being overcharged. This was not figured out until an hour later when she called me to tell me. Unable and unwilling to speak to her, I let her leave me a voice mail. She told me she would be charging my card (which I am ok with) but did not know someone could do without permission. I reached out to Deka Lash and wanted to make them aware of this so that you may address these issues with their staff. I hoped they may want to train them additionally on customer service and what topics are appropriate to speak to customers about and provide them with diversity training so that they do not speak to their customers in a transphobic and homophobic way. I received no response. I requested that my account be canceled immediately and then was subsequently charged for 2 additional months. I suggest that you find a company that is not transphobic, homophobic and respects customers. Additionally, as others have said, good luck getting out of your auto-billed account--they refuse to cancel my account and I am still being billed despite this horrible experience and my request to cancel my account. read more

Came in for a lash lift after being constantly frustrated with how flat my lashes were. Raeanne and Shayla were amazing at explaining what the lift was like and then leaving me in awe when they were finished. Now it my lashes are so curled and fanned and beautiful! My first time at deka lash was horrible. I'll start with what I liked. I enjoyed the fast service, the clean facility, it was very relaxing and put me in a good mood. Now, to what I HATED about it. Let's start with the eyelashes. Now the lashes weren't that bad, however I had better at a way cheaper price! They were way too full, like it looked exactly like a strip lash, not like extensions at all and I never really got a chance to explain to my technician Kori what I liked and did not like, she just pulled me back and started. Ok, lashes aren't great I'll get over it. I also got my eyebrows waxed and tinted. This was a mistake. My eyebrows were sooooo bad, I can't even explain how bad they were. My tint wasn't even fully wiped off. My eyebrows were so uneven and one looked so bad I couldn't believe she was a professional. I left very unhappy, I didn't say anything because her skill level was so bad I figured she would just make it worse. So right after I left I went to my hairdresser and let her fix it. She will be the only person doing my lashes and eyebrows from now on. I only tried deka because I herd good things. I wanted to love this place.the location.the posh interior.close to home....sadly i left very disappointed, and quite honestly robbed. i decided to go with the true volume lashes,as i like my lashes very full and long. on the site as well as when booking over the phone i was told the process would take about 2 and a half hours. totally fine with that. after checking in we went to the back and i pulled up a few pics of the style and length i desired. i made it very clear that i wanted long dark wispy and thicker lashes.i showed the tech at least 7 pics of what i wanted, and a few styles that i disliked. she agreed and we began the process. after only about 45 mins she was finished, so right then i knew something was wrong. she handed me the mirror and the lashes looked exactly like my natural ones! maybe a tad longer but in no way shape or form what i requested. after paying i went home pretty angry, especially after my boyfriend says "what exactly did they do?". Fast forward 4 days later, they are falling out in clusters while on vacation! No i did not go swimming or sauna or anything out of the ordinary.After a week im left with maybe 10 lashes per eye and had to use mascara until i could get home go to a different place to have the removed and re done THE RIGHT WAY. i would not recommend deka lash to anyone. the techs are kinda rude and obviously do not listen or care about what you want.would give 0 stars if i could....and on top of that i still tipped 15 bucks for her time....of giving me exactly what i did not want. read more
