Our trip was rescheduled due to weather, and Del Mar Charters kept us updated and responded to all questions immediately. The trip was fantastic and the four of us had a great time. Captain Christopher kept us laughing and smiling the entire time. The boat, 30' Grady White, was perfect for a group of four. We were all amazed at the amount of fish we each caught. It was non stop fish action! On the way back in, the Captain pointed out dolphins that were coming in to feed and he took us past a sea lion that was sunbathing. This fishing trip was the highlight of our trip overall to Rocky Point. This is a MUST DO fishing trip. We will be returning and will be booking again for another fishing excursion. Del Mar was suggested by Yelp and the reviews were right! I booked a sunset cruise and the voyage was beautiful. Oscar the Captain was friendly and fun with a great sense of humor and enough stories to keep everyone entertained. The boat was in great shape. We motored out to see the sunset and we were able to sail back most of the way. I saw a few sea lions and took some great photos. We were looking for a memorable experience for my mother's 60th birthday and as we were looking through options while we were in Rocky Point, Del Mar Charters stood out. This charter boat turned out to be one of the best vacation experiences I've ever had. I could tell you the beautiful boat, dolphins, or Mexican sunset is what made it great. However, what actually made this the most memorable Mexico experience was the commitment the staff made to creating a perfect experience. From the moment we arrived they paid special attention to make my mom's birthday perfect. They told jokes, took time with each person on the trip to talk about the ocean, the city, or whatever else came up. When we left we felt like friends. This trip is comparable price-wise to any other, but is so much more intimate and you genuinely get more time out on the water than their competitors. My 14 year old son went with a group of friends and had a wonderful time on a half day fishing charter (8am-2pm). They caught a lot of fish. Mostly grouper, trigger fish and a few rock bass. Such a great boating service. $35 per person on a huge, beautiful Catamaran with unlimited sodas, water, Dos Equis, Tecate and margaritas. The people running the ship are bilingual and extremely accommodating. They provide snacks on board, blankets for the cold weather and they allow you to sit up front on the net. We happened to see a number of dolphins jumping all around us for almost an hour. Just a note that they charge a 7% credit card fee if you don't pay with cash. Well worth booking to avoid the big, double decker ferry-like boats that other services offer. read more

Terrible experience: my family of five had a booking and the kids were really looking forward to it, but the company cancelled our trip because "we didn't have enough people". I called them at 7:00 am the day of our cruise to Bird Island and was told that they required 10 people minimum, and they cancel on any group when they don't have that number. We woke up at 6:30 in the morning to do this cruise but couldn't. Del Mar should either have a second smaller boat for groups of less than 10 or offer some compensation to guests that get cancelled on last minute. The good news: we went to the pier anyway and there are many English speaking agents helping to arrange private tours. We ended up paying less ($420 US vs $450 for Del Mar) for a nice private boat that would follow our schedule, and a kayak was thrown in for free. So, we ended up going to Bird Island after all, and had a great time despite Del Mar Charters. read more

Best bang for your buck charter to Bird Island. Great crew to get you to the island. They provide lunch, beer water and soda. They only take small groups at a time so there to much commotion on board. Only thing that was a let down is that the sea lions weren't to friendly. read more

I don't think enough good things can be said about Oscar. It's clear he cares deeply about his community and puts a huge amount of effort into making sure his customers have an amazing time. He's funny and friendly and plays good music. He had to cancel our bird island tour because of wind but felt so bad that we hadn't gotten the message before arriving that he led us to a great breakfast spot, THEN he took us to a small local aquarium and explained how much he cared that the local kids had a place to see the amazing animals that he gets to see diving. We liked him so much that instead of getting our deposit back, we rescheduled our tour for a sunset cruise and were not disappointed! Most of my family doesn't drink which is why we hadn't initially planned on the sunset cruise (which includes drinks) so he made sure he had ingredients for excellent virgin piña coladas. (Jessica made the drinks and she was great too!) At one point he started a super fun, seemingly spontaneous water balloon fight. We swam in the deep water and he helped my young sisters to not be afraid of the water by showing them how clear and blue it was under the boat. He gave out Rice Krispie treats, played everyone's song requests, gave fireball shots to those who drank during the fireball song, Jessica took the only picture of our entire family from the trip right at sunset (which was amazing), and we had a dance party as we pulled into port. The last song just happened to be the other married couple's wedding song, and it was timed perfectly to end right as we pulled up to the dock. Magical. Like I said, I can't praise him or the experience enough. Best thing to do in puerto penasco, hands down. read more

For a crew of 8, including a gaggle of teens, this was a great boat. We booked a whale watching excursion and while there were bigger and faster boats nearby this one was just what we wanted. There were about 18 of us on the boat, but not enough chairs for all - so the teens all hung out on the net up front - which COULD have been awesome, but was pretty cold and wet once the winds kicked up and the seas got rough. We did have a few pukers on the boat - but that had everything to do with the crappy seas that started about 1/4 into our trip. The staff is totally professional and friendly. They provide you with margaritas, a small beer/soda selection and bottled water. They also brought up blankets when things got cold and checked in on the pukers to make sure they were ok. There is a small bathroom below deck that was very clean. No need to really bring anything, except maybe a small, waterproof bag for you phone and snacks. read more

We decided to give it a try and Captain Oscar, Jessica from the front desk, Captain's boat crew and the guard dog Sparky are all amazing! We had the time of our lives and we were trying to book the sunset cruise the next day. Unfortunately for us they were booked so next time we visit Del Mar Charters we are booking both the noon and the sun set cruise! The boat was beautiful and the drinks were very refreshing!
