All in all the four of us that went on this...had a good time! The crew was fabulous, funny and very entertaining. The only drinks included in the price are beers and margaritas. I will say that the margaritas tasted like lemonade. The fact that it was advertised as "open bar - unlimited drinks" should be clarified more. So, I'm at the tail end of my first trip to Puerto Peñasco and my friend says, "Hey! I'm going to pick up tickets to sail on that "pirate ship" we saw the other day. You want to go?" My first thought was, No. It's just going to be another one of those campy fake pirates pretending to be a real pirates sunset cruise thingys....blah blah blah.... And, it was that, but it was also more entertaining than I ever thought it would be! First of all, the captain of the boat let, what appeared to be, his 10-14 year old son steer the boat out of the dock into the open water and from that point on the captain took over. *phew* I was worried for a minute. I'll give the kid props. He actually did a good job *clap clap clap* While at sea no dolphins were spotted, but that's ok because there was plenty of entertainment to keep the crowd's interest. There was the two "old" men dancing routine, a couple contests, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) were flowing, line dancing and other activities. The boat does have bathrooms, the staff is bilingual, the parking attendant costed 50 pesos, the meal served was just edible so I wouldn't pay the extra $5 for that again, the environment is definitely family friendly. 1. Pretty sure this is the yelp page for what is currently known as the perla negra sunset pirate cruise! 2. You don't go on the pirate cruise for incredible food. Maybe some other cruise, but not this one. The food was perfectly edible (chicken, peppers, onions - basically the inside of fajitas - plus rice and beans for adults, slice of mediocre pizza for the kids). I enjoyed the food because I'm a simple girl. If this will bother you, eat before or after. (Have you ever prepared and served food in choppy seas?) 3. You don't go on the pirate cruise for great drinks. If you love modelo, boy howdy will you get your money's worth! I managed to catch a buzz from the free margaritas but I am an incredibly cheap date and had to work at it. Pony up for better booze that's not included, pregame, or both. 4. You go on the pirate cruise so your kids will have a fun time! You make memories dancing and playing games and at the end you have them tip the pirates and take pics with the pirates and buy them swords so they, too, can be pirates! And at that, this cruise excels! The pirates are bilingual and all have great energy and this was thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommended as long as you're interested in it for what it is. 5. Been to Rocky Point many times over the years and this has to be one of my most favorites now. It was very interactive or if you prefer to just watch it's still a great time for all ages. Our kids loved it but we adults loved it just as much. Pirate show, fireworks, food and drinks included. read more

We saw the pirate ship cruise and weren't completely sold on it. After talking to another couple that did it we decided to give it a shot. And we are so glad we did. First off it was all you can drink which makes everything more fun. Second, the whole pirate theme made for a really unique experience that you can't find anywhere else! I did the pirate sunset tour with a group of family members that ranged in age from 24-72 we all had a great time. We did the cruise with unlimited alcoholic drinks our cups were never empty. It is clear this is a family run business and they all work very hard to ensure everyone has a good time. The cast and crew do a great job of entertaining you during the cruise and the sunset is beautiful. I would highly recommend taking the pirate cruise during your time in Rocky Point. read more

snooze cruise. this place was advertised as a booze cruise with open bar/unlimited drinks and dinner for a ticket price of 30$. (we payed for the extra 15$ upgrade for an open bar cruise.) we walked down to the bar on the ship to order drinks and the bartender informed us that our 30$ wristband only included unlimited margaritas and tecate and proceded to charge us 10$ for a drink that was 80% ice. (let me add that these margaritas were extremely watered down and it took about 6 too feel even a slight buzz.) after getting off of the ship and looking back at their website, I verified that this information was not on their site and our tickets stated "open bar-unlimited drinks". not to mention the dinner was a practically an elementary school lunch, half a chicken sandwich and a wilted salad. this cruise is advertised as a party cruise but it's more so for families than those looking to have a good time with friends. If this review wasn't convincing enough, I wouldn't recommend paying for any ticket upgrades because it seemed as if we were all given the same "unlimited drinks" regardless of the color wristbands you were wearing. If you're looking for a REAL booze cruise definitely choose another boat. read more

This review is about the experience I had with El Rey del Mar Pirate Cruise on March 10. We had prepaid for 6 tickets using an email (cap.tony@reydelmarpenasco.com) that is linked with the website. Do not correspond or send money via that email. It is a 3rd person that originally setup website and is scamming people into thinking he is the real Captain Tony. After talking with office people and daughter of real Captain Tony they had fully refunded our money due to bad weather and cruise cancellation. They went above and were more than respectful of the circumstances. They are trying to get it stopped by slow process. They say to call the phone listed. I give this high rating because they went above what they had to. Just can't wait to actually go on the cruise. Next visit. Thank you again for customer service. read more

This was an expensive, horrible two hours. We paid extra for the free bar, but good luck getting any drinks. Once I saw others getting drinks from the bar, I went downstairs to get mine and my daughter's. I was told they would bring them up. Well, that never happened, but within a few minutes, the waiter who told me he would bring the drinks up, showed up with pitchers to refill drinks, but you had to have a cup in which to pour the drink, which we did not have because he never brought our drinks. So my daughter went down and go my drink (by now the boat was rocking and rolling, so she didn't feel she could carry two drinks up the stairs). Now, several waiters came by with food and pitchers during this time. Each AND Every one of them ignored us. it was as if we did not exist. Calling out did nothing as well. I don't know why. It could be that we are an inter-racial family. At any rate, it was my birthday and they ruined it. My daughter never did get a drink, despite having paid for it. Also, be aware that if you want to see the shows they put on, you MUST sit in the middle area, where there are only benches along the side. It is not a comfortable boat and you will spend 2 hours in it. Also, you must speak Spanish. The entire narration is in Spanish. read more
