We enjoyed our stay at an Airbnb at one of these condos. I loved the view of the pool and ocean. I loved that the inside was traditionally decorative and colorful. The unit had a full fridge, kitchen, washer and dryer, and bathroom. The 2 of the 3 pools had a swim up bar. There is a path to the ocean within walking distance. There is a store on the property, and a restaurant too that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We found they were best for breakfast. The negative for me was the very thin walls. You can hear many things and so through the night we did not sleep too deeply or woke up early because of the noises. But that is more the building than the unit. Also a negative, you can not drink the water, bring water bottles. It does not have an infiltration system. You'll get a stomach illness if you do. I was ill for 3 days from taking some with my antihistamine. read more

Spent 4 nights here and had a wonderful time. Like most of these resorts at Sandy Beach, it's privately owned condos you can rent (we did it through Airbnb). The resort has direct beach access, multiple pools, swim-up bar, a restaurant, a convenience store, atm, and gym. It is secured with a gate and security team. And of course, beautiful views. We felt safe the whole time. Security will deal with noisy or unruly guests. There are bellhops to help you bring your stuff in when you arrive. You are just a few minutes from great restaurants such as Mare Blu and Garufa. Emiliano's, located at the plaza, is good for if you don't want to drive anywhere. And the convenience store was helpful when we needed more waters and sports drinks. I loved the swim-up bar for piña coladas and they use these frozen cherry sours that are so good, the bartender gave me some extras. Everyone who works here is friendly. The beach is a little rocky (Rocky Point), but there are some sandy paths you can find through the water. One thing is the walls seem thin. We heard neighbors watching a movie, people outside, doors closing, chairs moving, etc. It wasn't a big deal, but something to consider. Thankfully they have quiet hours after 10pm which are enforced by security, so you can be sure there won't be anything crazy at night. Overall, I'm really glad I chose Sonoran Sun for our first trip to Puerto Peñasco together and I would stay again. read more

We had room 703 (2 bedrooms and 2 baths). This resort has very clean (however dated), tight security (controlled gates and access), pools (clean), and amenities (gym). The Jacuzzi? I don't know, since I didn't want a shocking experience. Also, our room was very cozy, however one side of the bed from both rooms had a literal hole on one side, ouch my back! I felt like a landed from a 10 story building. concerning noise, we were woken up at night by car alarms and early risers (6 a.m.) with kids that would make a lot of noise in the morning in the hallway. also, room service doesn't come every day; however, they leave paper towels and toilet papers. other than that, we had a good time cabron! read more

We spent 5days at this resort in April (after Easter) and we had a very nice, relaxing stay in unit W104. We arrived at 2, not realizing check in was at 4.. luckily our condo was ready. Check in and locating the condo was easy. Plenty of parking, easy access to offload our ice chest, bottled water and suitcases. The condo was a ground unit with the most amazing balcony, view and access to the pools and beach! Furniture was all modern and every game and need was readily available (games, TVs, extra pillows, hangers, kitchen items). The sound of the waves in the morning was amazing .. the pools were cleaned daily, guard shacks at the beach entrances to make sure the pools were just guests of the resort. The resort and beach was clean.. plenty of shaded seating areas. Staff was friendly, always greeted you. I would highly recommend this resort .. it's close to the malecon, fish market, la ley for grocery items and some mex/American restaurants like wrecked at the reef, changos, bandidos. read more

For my friend's 30th, we planned our trip to Rocky Point! She found this resort through Air BNB as a owned condo within the resort. This is very common at this resort. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath. Perfect location! It was easy to get here, easy to find and easy to manage going anywhere else around or into the city. This place has a pool/hot tubs that have the beach just FEET away so pick your choice! We would lay out and swim by the beachside cabanas and then go to the hot tub as the sunset starts chilling the air. My only critique is that the resort restaurant is a bit expensive for its quality of food. It's fine but nothing much more special I could find in Arizona but the same price as US. You can go here if you need a quick meal and don't want to locate an alternative but I'd recommend doing just that instead. We will for sure come back. Sleeping with the windows open, while hearing the ocean at night could never be replaced. read more

This was the last straw Sonorun Sun! Stayed 4 days recently SW109. It has slowly been pissing our group off for years. Master bed sucks! No pillowcases, 2 dinky pillows on bed that were so uncomfortable, broken ceiling fan! The security at night were ready to pounce and extremely rude and aggressive. Our room phone rang at exactly 10 pm to say keep the noise down it was hardly loud at all. Security guards flashing lights at us incessantly. Friend told to " stop slamming front door when that was not the case at all it shut behind him from the back door being open. We had gone into town and a friend left his cell phone in the taxi-thank goodness we had the drivers phone number. The guards at the resort accused my friend of calling him back to the resort to buy drugs. It was a whole rude out of control trip by your guards. We decided as a group of 8 who have poured THOUSANDS into your resort over the years. We will never be back. You guys are becoming a joke amongst the frequent American stayers in RP. $16 dollar pool quesadillas. $20 for 5 pancakes for breakfast at your restaurant. Ha! Nope your the fool now. Never again. Not to mention rates have almost tripled since we started staying there but everything continues to look more and more run down and broke! read more

Avoid SW1007... This unit is going downhill horribly! The Sonoran Sun used to be really nice to stay at and a lot of the units are going downhill....This is completely unacceptable for $2,000! The dishwasher didn't work at all, the washing machine didn't work, there was no cleaning service because of COVID, there was a roach in the shower, we couldn't get EITHER patio door open, there were very few dishes and everything seemed so dirty and the shower in our room was completely missing tiles. I complained to the front desk and they offered me 10% off my next stay. WHAT!! I get 20% off each time anyway, so it was like a slap in the face. So frustrating when I was surprising my husband and his friends for his birthday. It was so embarrassing. read more

This was my first trip to Rocky Point and wasn't sure of what to expect. My family actually had done all of the organizing, planning and reserving for this trip - my only responsibility was to get there! Upon arrival, the security guards check if you're on the guest list and then they allow you inside to park. We easily found the tower and made our way up the elevators. The room we had was really spacious and had a beautiful patio overlooking the beach and the resorts pools. The resort itself was pretty well maintained, the pools were clean and sparkling and the beach was literally right there. We also visited the restaurant on site as well as their gift shop/convenience store and the spa. I would TOTES come back to Sonoran Sun on my next trip to Rocky Point! read more

The drinks were pricey for Mexico, as well as the food, can't remember how it honestly tasted after spending a couple of hundred on drinks at the bar. the AMFs are definitely worth the taste, I believe this resort was also right next to the oceans sand bar. 3 bedroom condo ocean view was nice with a full kitchen, however this was not an all inclusive resort style which is why it is getting the 3 stars. I stayed here for 3-4 days with a few other girls however security at this place was always asking for me and my friends to show our wristbands when we walked from the sand back to the pool as if they did not just see us leave 10 minutes prior, quite frustrating. My whole attitude changed as soon as I walked into my room. My room was luxurious and beautiful. I loved my view from the balcony. The room had all the things I'd need if I wanted to just stay inside. I enjoyed the pools and the hot tub. Room was nice, we stayed in SE 211. Pool area was OK until Friday, then the kids came in, I mean 18 year old's. They drank to excess, used foul language, played their music as loud as their speakers would allow. They took up lounge chairs that had umbrellas by them, and stayed in the pool. It goes on until late hours. There was yelling going on in the parking lot at 2:30am. When I checked out I told Luis, he said why didn't you call down to security, I said why wasn't security on top of it. Maybe mid week would be ok, or when the kids go back to school. read more

Of all the resorts I've ever been to, the Sonoran Sun ranks 2nd highest in terms of overall experience. The beach view is beautiful, the staff are friendly, and the drinks are cheap. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and you even get American channels! The food is very good and the pool area is a nice place to hang out. The majority of people at this resort are older folk or families, but there are a few part-goers as well. One issue I've had here is that during one of my visits, half of the pool and its surrounding area had sustained some damage and apparently the hotel management had been in the process of repairing the pool for a few months. That's quite a lot of time and they allowed the pool to be out of operation through spring break! The last issue is that the security guards get quite rude and are easily irritated by the smallest infraction or inconvenience. Other than those 2 small issues, the place is great; the hotel is right on the beach and walking distance to some bars. You could also always take a cab for about 3-5$ to nearby bars and clubs. The hotel is also close enough to downtown, where the real authentic food and bars are. In terms of security, the hotel is gated with a security guard posted 24/7. Other guards constantly patrol the premises, which made me feel that I was in a safe environment. read more

Avoid Unit SE-412. No beach towels, no kitchen towels, no face towels, 1 hand towel and resort would not give us a single towel more. Bed is sleigh style and doesn't fit...hardly any room to walk past to get to the far side. No mattress pad, gross. No glass plates to microwave food. No salt/pepper, coffee filters, or anything. Pick another unit...any other unit. The beach in front of this particular place had a lot of rocks so you need to go to adjacent areas to avoid. The restaurant was meh at the resort. read more

I love me some Rocky Point and this Resort is nice. I've been here multiple times. But this last trip was a little disappointing. Room SW-108 is the lousiest place I've ever rented from. Mind you I'm not there to watch tv but my Cowboys were playing. Had to watch it on a 32 inch monitor. The patio furniture was cheap and broken. Why leave broken furniture out in everyone's way. I can't believe how you can own a rental and not have decent accommodations for your guests. I'll be back to Sonoran Sun but not back to SW-108. read more

Being my first time staying here right away I had issues with the front desk; see the issue is, we booked a family of 8 at this resort through a booking agency. As soon as we arrived they tried to tell us that we needed to pay an extra $300 for extra person to stay, although our part was all confirmed since February. Why would I pay for the mistake that isn't on me, no communication from agency and resort. Again, we had our room and our sliding door barely opened halfway, a continuous struggle to get in and out of the back door as we were staying at the bottom rooms. mind you, with 8 people in one house it becomes a frustration. We called to get it fixed and a man came but nothing was fixed. A day later we complained again, all they did was remove the sliding door completely and toss it to the side of our patio for the rest of our 4 days here. Another issue being that they advertise so much of their rooms and when I get excited to hear there are jets in the bathtub, I as anyone else would be expecting for the jets to work. We called and the front desk already knew that the jets didn't work in our bathtub... No television remotes were working, batteries were completely dead in all remotes. We had to call everyday in order for our trash to be taken out. Light bulbs went out in our bathrooms and rooms. When my family and I come on a vacation, it's important to have the luxury of relaxing and unwinding, unfortunately that wasn't the case with staying at Sonoran Sun. I will not be referring any one to come here, I have nothing but negative comments for this stay. read more

I absolutely love this resort. Look to rent on the west side as the east side brings a ton of afternoon sun into your room. The hotel is clean and so are the pools. There is an adult side and a kid side to their pool. They offer swim up food and drinks on both sides. The bartender Eddie is our fav as he plays good music and always is smiling. The resort offers many sized rooms, some with jacuzzis on the patios. The guards tend to be a little over bearing at times, policing the adult pool and removing young adults. They property is gated and wrist bands are needed to enter the resort from the beach. read more

We stayed at SE 305 condo that is furnished with contemporary style furniture in living room and the master bedroom. The other room had more of antique decor. The condo from the decor is beautiful. The view from the patio was amazing. We stayed for 4 nights. The staff at booking was amazing, the check in and check out process was pretty fast and painless. The front desk employee Angel was great at communication, always smiling, polite and professional. Our problem was with the cleanliness of the condo. The master bedroom was dirty as the sheets and comforter were not washed. Bedding had a terrible smell including the pillows. The white sheets had some sort of salsa/sauce stains and was tucked in the corner to hide the stains, comforter had some white stains as you can see from the pictures. Their front desk/night shift staff brought some sheets to the room and told me that they do not have anymore comforter specially when i told him that we will not sleep on dirty sheets, he did not offer to make the bed and just handed me the sheets and left. A cleaning lady came in the morning to take the comforter and wanted to see what was wrong with the comforter, after I showed her the stains, she took the comforter quietly without saying anything and brought it back washed couple hours later. Fridge leaked throughout our whole stay. I made calls at least three times if not more to front desk for the maintenance personnel to come and check, and noone came to check the leakage. The front desk personnel kept on telling me that the maintenance guy will come next day as our first day (in the evening), he had already left. The next morning, it was the same, nobody showed up to check the water leakage, so we end up changing the towels to soak up the fluids and doing laundry as we had to use towels as well. And that is what we had to do for our next 4 night stay. Attached are the pictures of the stains and fridge leakage. The kitchen had everything we could use to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Some of the dishes had food stains from previous use and had musky smell to it, We just ended up cleaning the dishes before use. Despite this, we did have a great time at Sonoran Sun and the pool was clean and bar personnel were all amazing. The family had a blast. Just the cleanliness of the condo is where we had issues. I would have loved to use this condo again in the future. But, I have no desire to sleep on dirty sheets and dealing with leakage problems. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. They're so strict about wristbands I tried to bring my friend from las palmas just to visit for like 10 minutes and they kicked her out and threatened her. I had a towel over my wristband because I was carrying back from the peach and security yelled at me. 10/10 would never ever recommend. I've stayed at las palmas and their management is so good and nice. I would definitely stay there over here. I have been coming here for a few years, I love the layout of the resort, ocean front, and closeness to town. I have had a few issues with housekeeping, last year they didn't come around at all to restock supplies or take out trash. This year I rented 2 bedroom condo and I always check bedding to ensure that it's clean. Comforter looked dingy and when i went to check top bunk bed sheets looked dirty. I know it's the top bunk bed but I still expect them to be clean. I called front desk and they informed me about clean sheet in closet. I took care of it myself. Great location and friendly staff. This place is a joke!! The only good thing about it is the view. After paying over $500 for 4 days,when we got there they charged me an additional $20 a night for my teenagers (extra $160). $200 deposit that got debited on the spot for a " damage deposit" that takes 7 days to get back and then they charged me $6 to refund it back to my debit card. They make you get out of the pool if you're wearing any cotton. WIFI SUCKS if you actually get it to work. Pools were all hot. You Can't have your own music to loud by the pool or your room, they'll tell you turn it down,but they blast their music at the bar all day. You Can't hang anything to dry to close to the balcony or they'll call you to take it down. They kick you out of the beach at night if you're "out to late". The restaurant on site is pricy and mediocre. The ladies at the spa are great and very welcoming. Overall they are supper annoying and up your ass non stop. We were a group of about 16, We will never stay in this place again!!! read more

We stayed in SE712 and our unit was wonderful. After reading several reviews I was concerned that the interior pictures were not accurate. But our unit SE712 was lovely. It was clean, spacious and had just about everything you would ever need. I do however have a few observations that would have given this 5 stars and not 4. Although they had a water cooler for the the unit, the water really tasted funny and smelled wrong. I don't know why, but it wasn't just me. So I ended up filling a pot with the water and boiling it first, then once the pot cooled off, I put it in the refrigerator. Speaking of cooling off.......It was very, very hot while we were there in late August. I wish there was a patio umbrella because the view is AMAZING but you couldn't even sit out there in the morning because of the blazing sun. It would have been better if there was some sort of shade out there. The last and final comment is the guest bed. It was literally as hard as a rock. I wasn't able to sleep on the bed at all. It reminded me of one of those "fake" mattresses that you see in a model home or furniture store display. There were plenty of other amenities in the house. I'm a techy person. So to have WIFI and Netflix on the TV were great. Getting internet at the pool....not so much. I know, I know. I'm on vacation put the phone away...but I'm not a teenager and I depend on my phone for directions. I had a difficult time with my Waze navigation app the entire time I was there. We arrived late August 2017 and it didn't seem to be very busy. Keep in mind that once you arrive at the resort, there is beach, pool, drinking and eating. This location is a total relaxing kind of vacation. Unless you're there with a group and make your own fun. My suggestions for newbies: 1. Navigation on the phone and inside the car would not recognize our resort. I put in the city and drove toward the water. 2. Bring bottled water. Cases of it. I tried to buy it in town and the store tried to charge me $11 US dollars (ha ha) 3. Make sure you have sunscreen and a big hat or baseball cap. 4. We were told not to go in town at night. So we didn't. We ate at the Wrecked Reef for dinner and breakfast and it's a really cool place that is just outside the gates of the resort 0.2 miles. It looks like you're driving to the ends of the earth but...tah dah two restaurants! 5. Bring small bills. We had many stores say "we don't have change for a twenty in US dollars." I also found that some of the locals don't understand the rate conversion. So there you have it! read more

Stayed here for a few days , checked in on 11th and checked out 3 days later ,stayed in room w 107 ,let me tell you the room had no tv remotes in either room ceiling fan lights didn't work , I was told someone would come and fix but no body ever did ,so when I dropped off my key as they only had one which was a pain as we had 5 guests, she told me I my deposit was already refunded I just had to wait for the bank well I thought today I would double check and there was a refund but for only 33.00 dollars, so we called and they said the table had a burn mark and drawer in fridge was broken. Well it wasn't us , we argued and demanded pictures of before and after our stay with dates on photos, as we know it could have been overlooked before our stay , must have been, and as guests of the other sonoran resort all this year at the spa and never been charged ,looks like it's time to find another resort, and all my friends who go to sonoran will hear this as well ,.unbelievable,....... read more
