To be honest it has become so hard to find even one of those traits in both large and small businesses, you can just forget about finding both.........not here though. You can tell the owner really loves music and has a natural tendency for teaching it too. He seemed honest and straight forward, again qualities I appreciate. I have to admit he's also a good salesman, but not the kind you typically think of. He didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need and his prices seem to be very reasonable (and if they're not he sure did make me feel like they were). Like I said we went in to replace 1 guitar string and left with 6 brand new quality strings, a new nut, he tuned the guitar, cleaned and oiled it and added a part for her shoulder strap so she can play it freely without it being in her way. All of this was only $42 out the door. Over the weekend I had called around for pricing and most places wanted a $50 service charge just for replacing 1 string and tuning it in addition to the cost of the string which was $10 and up. I would definitely prefer to pay a little more for quality and have something that lasts than I would pay less and have to keep replacing it especially when it comes to musical instruments, but I'm also a single parent of 2 children and their sole provider. So, price is a variable but not the only thing that matters. I have the feeling based off of his interactions with my daughter that he is a great music teacher. I didn't want to bring up lessons in front of my daughter because I'm not sure if they're affordable, but I plan on calling tomorrow to see. Even if they're not, he's landed himself another loyal customer! TIP: I found him here on Yelp, he's a mile from our house and his store hours are listed as closing at 7pm. We got there at 5:50pm, thankfully because he actually closes at 6pm per his door sign. However, he did say that it's best to call when heading there in the evenings because on some days he closes early and some he closes late depending on his students.

Ergo, another fine looking physically mint condition piece of equipment has to be replaced and recycled. I have played for over 60 years, have a lot of acoustic instruments and a few of them have suffered due to the Vegas weather. I found one luthier who was quite affordable ... but his bandage style repair work left a lot to be desired. I found another luthier with an astounding reputation ... but was available by appointment only and charged nearly what an instrument cost to do the repairs. Like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, I landed one that was just right on my third try. Vegas Guitars, located at 3975 W Quail Ave #4, Las Vegas, NV 89118 (702) 884-7490. Adam Pero is your go to guy for acoustic instrument repair. Anything from a fret buzz to a face split. His prices are reasonable; his work is quick and accurate. I've taken three instruments to him so far and been very happy with the results of al three. While waiting in the lobby for Adam to put some finishing touches on one of my instruments, I was able to observe Neil Smith working on an electric 6-string bass. He was testing the neck from top to bottom playing soft and loud. Then he turned his attention to the pick-ups. There was no question in my mind that he knew exactly what he was doing. I have a Tylor T5z. So far it has no issues, but I know where I will take it for repairs, should that ever become necessary.

This had me worried if I was still in Hawaii I would have taken it to the Kamaka store for repair. I would know that they deal with Kamakas all the time and I wouldn't have to worry about getting it fixed there. But living in Vegas had me worried that maybe they wouldn't know how to repair it successfully. But took a chance on family music center after reading the reviews on Yelp. I was not disappointed they did an excellent job with the repair you can't even see where the split was on the bridge. The staff was really knowledgeable and friendly and put my mind at ease. I'd get them 10 stars if I could.

I went to the location on Charleston to speak with him directly. He determined that it was a simple fix and took care of it on the spot. I estimate I was in the shop for all of 10 minutes.
