The new Del Sol Market in the Foothills is owned and operated by IGA, and located on Foothills Blvd. near the Foothills Bank. It has a variety of basic food items, a small clothing section, school supplies and housewares, Mexican specialty items including a restaurant and a small bakery, and a large selection of fresh meat and poultry. Some prices were higher than Walmart or Fry's. A 5lb bag of potatoes was $2.99 (and $2.94 at Walmart). A half-gallon of Sarah whole milk was $2.29 (and $1.72 for Walmart's Great Value brand). However, turnips were $2.69 each (and $3.04 at Fry's). The boxed and canned items also seemed higher. The family-size box of Cheerios was approx. $1.50 higher than Walmart. Del Sol has a weekly ad which is online and you can also get a paper copy at the door. If you have lived in the Foothills a long time, you might remember that the old Hank's Market used to be in the building across the street from Del Sol. Hank's was also overpriced, but it was very convenient for Foothills residents. In those days, there was only the old Fry's in the Foothills and the Walmart on Pacific Ave. I did not try the restaurant items. They had homemade tamales for $3.19 each. I thought they looked rather small (flat) and I passed them by. Maybe next time. Del Sol is clean, well-stocked, and it is a very pleasant environment. The walking (if you are elderly or disabled) is much easier than hiking through Walmart. I plan to make Del Sol a part of my shopping routine, along with Walmart's curbside pick-up. I bought a half-gallon of milk, 2 large turnips, 2 bananas, 4 avocados, and a 5lb bag of potatoes. The total came to $12.60. Yes this is a good market with good products, that's fine. But the gross fucking attitude of the employees and even some of the people who shop here keeps me the fuck away from here. I'm biracial, my dad is Hispanic and my mom is White, I live here in Yuma with my mom and have for over 10 years and every time my mom goes to this Del Sol market, she is met with blatant racism. People are rude, and mouthy and have outright refused to help. Sometimes it's better if I'm with her as I look more like my dad, or the demographic they clearly prefer, and we can actually get an associates help or not get nasty looks and glares from staff or customers. But even with me there is a clear difference in treatment to us, her, than there is to others who shop there. We avoid this store if we can just because it's a hassle to shop there, and after today, on Christmas of all days, my mom was treated so horribly we won't be back, and I will advise anyone who listens to stay the fuck away from this place. The restaurant is inside the market to your far right. You can do your grocery shopping and take food home . All kinds of meat choices. Tortas, gorditas. Sopes tacos burritos burrotes, etc. Caldo de res, pozole and menudo also are available. I had the white menudo, it was ok. This is a good place to get dinner on the go. The reason for the 4 stars is... the have a seating areas but tables are always dirty, I have been there several times and I don't see anyone coming and wiping the tables down, I usually try to pick the less dirty table. But you can also take your food and eat it at home. Other than that I like the food. Prices are not bad either. read more

I don't shop for many things at this market. When I'm having a carne asada this is where I go. A few days ago I went for items to make a salsa as I was by and also picked up some avocados. The cashier was rude and overcharged me for my avocados. I bought 4 she charged me for 7 in two transactions. I always check my receipt but was preoccupied with bagging my groceries ( I always take my own bags) didn't check it until we were half way home and noticed I was overcharged. My point being always check your receipt when shopping anywhere but especially at this Del Sol Market. read more

Inside the market they have a fun cafeteria style dining area with delicious soups, burritos, and assorted plates at very reasonable prices. There is a tortilla factory in here so as you can guess the tortilla with your meal will be really fresh. I ordered the caldo de res and it comes with a side of rice and tortillas. It was delicious and full of re see chunks of meat. The ladies next to me got giant carne asada burritos and they also looked fantastic. There are two sweet little ladies working the steady stream of customers. The seating area has some dirty tables with a few odd pieces of rice but nothing crazy gross looking. This place is such a deal I will be back to try a burrito. read more

This place is disgusting. The vile smell in there is incredible. I just moved here and tried it. Then I thought well, let me try the other older, smaller store. OMG the rancid, reeks worse in there. When I got home and put the bag of tomatoes in the fridge, you could smell it on a plastic bag. I was worried when ai went to the next store that you could still smell it on my clothe's. Food City doesn't smell like that. The here must not be a very active government dept in Yuma to address this. What in the world makes this smell. read more

Check your price tags at the meat deli because these people are overcharging customers. Check the products name when ordering.

They are now open after more than one employee tested positive for covid-19, causing them to temporarily close. They have signs when you walk up asking you to sanitize your cart. Sadly the bottles were completely empty of cleaner/disinfectant and they only had rolls of dry paper towels. If you do come here to shop be sure to bring your own Clorox wipes or travel size Lysol spray can. I opted to not grab a cart since I only wanted tortillas and chips. The staff was still very nice, they are all wearing masks. The other concern is them still having pan dulce for self service. I can see why people have been sick in their store. They also do not wipe the belt or card reader in between customers. I was very disappointed in their low safety standards in regards to sanitation during the current pandemic. Especially when they have been directly affected by it. I know they will remain open as many locals rely heavily on their low priced fresh produce, meats and Mexican products. I just hope people proceed with caution and come in prepared to pick up where they are lacking. It is the same del sol we all have come to know and love with delicious hot made food that tastes like your abuelita made it from home, their yummy aguas frescas, Mexican candies and their delicious fresh corn and flour tortillas. I can only hope this review reaches the right eyes and they change their ways for everyone's well being. read more

The worst service I have ever gotten! I went and got a few things and some beer for a tipical Sunday Carne asada and the cashier was obnoxiously loud at the time I had to pay saying I could not put my beer on the shopping cart since I hade my 3 year old daughter sitting on the front of it! She than proceeded to to tell me in a loud voice it was because i had a minor! I was ok with it and expressed to her this was the first time someone has ever said such thing she than loudly told me "you have to carry it on your hand if not I won't sell you the beer" it was honestly supper embarrassing and upsetting specially when I had not even refused to her "orders" for her to continue being loud and rude. Pros: A little better selection of Meat compared to the downtown store. Cons: Getting in and out of the parking lot can be a challenge. Go to this market if you like discrimination. My husband and I are white, and we went to this market to pick up some groceries and food from the cafeteria counter. The service was slow and we were waiting in line for a good 15 minutes. When it was our turn to be waited on, the woman behind the counter ignored us and waited on the Hispanic customer behind us. Not so much as a "Hello, or May I help you?" We parked our grocery cart with the few items we were intending to purchase, and walked out the door. Totally unprofessional. read more

Was hoping for more spicy snacks, sauces, & salsas here but they didn't have much compared to similar stores in the Phoenix area. This place is diverse, that's for sure, so you know you're on the right path for something authentic. Parking lot & general area felt sketchy to me but the locals insist it's alright. read more
