I went to the ER because of shortness of breath; I was sent home with over-the-counter ibuprofen. Dr. said there was no way they could tell what was wrong with my lungs based on a set of X-rays, no other testing was performed. They told me to go see my primary care doctor, when my Dr was the one who told me to go to the emergency room. ER is run by medicine students; they pinched my arm several times to get blood samples. DO NOT RISK YOUR HEALTH AT THIS PLACE. read more

Del Sol is an hospital that does not manage their main entry properly. Had to go several times with my wife to see some patients and you always have some cars blocking the entryway. I had to back off to park on the side parking for physicians. The security or personal ought to a better job clearing the pathway. This said, this is the only full-service, acute care hospital in East El Paso with a Level II Trauma designation in Emergency Services. In addition, Del Sol has continued to expand their services to meet the growing needs of our community, They are providing special expertise in Cardiology, Maternity & Child Services, a Level III NICU, a Center of Excellence. So these are all very positive improvements for our community. But it would be beneficial if they address the entry situation properly. read more

Del Sol has increasing got worst. Yesterday I went there to have some rash's checked on my back. I was seen by one of young millennium Doctors. She just told me to see my primary care physician there was nothing she could do. O'H she did say to get a referral. She could have done that there but she was too busy ( there was barely any there it was 5am ) on top of that my primary Doctor is almost never available I get an appointment every 3 months ( that's illegals). I've reduced the rating on Del Sol on gate way Blvd . I've made 4 trips to the ER. Her pain was so bad that the first time they had to give her Fentanyl for the pain. The second visit we were told that the the surgeon gave her to little Tramadol for her current pain level it should have been 100mg for 12 days, The 3rd ER visit she had a panic attack due to the pain and they had to give her Diazepam bring her out of her panic attack. I was at Del Sol Medical Center on October 30 thru November 3. Iwas admitted because I had high blood pressure I felt a little light headed, my left side was weak. I was on the third floor, bed 334/D. I want to thank the entire staff that helped me. They were all great. They took great care of me. I want to especially thank my nurse, Davinna. She made me calm, and cared for. She always made feel happy, when I would wake up in the morning and hear her coming because she would hum, and make me feel like I wasn't alone. She took time to explain why things were being done and that I was in good hands, and not to worry, I was going to be alright. She was like a friend looking out for me. I wish I could have told her how much she meant to me. She made me feel safe. read more

My mom was taken to Del Sol by ambulance from another city. We arrived at 5, and she was put into ER. As of 9:30, 15 hours later, she still has not been given a room. ER here has been a rough experience. She hasn't seen the admitting doctor. We had difficulty in getting pain meds for her. She did finally get a room after 17 hours. The only bright spot was the RNs . Especially the ER RN's named Gissel and Gloria. Gloria even helped to transport her to her room because she didn't want my mom to wait any longer. The nurses in the hospital were compassionate and very attentive. Now for the rest of the staff, after being placed in the room, was so good with her. They were very informative, and she ended up in emergency surgery. They continued with communication as the surgery progressed. The only reason for 3 stars was the administrative piece and the ER service. Go to the hospital but not the ER. read more

I thought I was dying so I showed up to the emergency room. Customer service was okay, not great. I promptly found out after our visit that they put down that I was a smoker. I'm not a smoker. Then about a week later I get a bill for my visit (mind you, no one spoke with us about prices when We were there.) I wish they had prices online or at least had someone come and talk to us while we were in the emergency room. I asked for an itemized receipt and it's a bunch of medical terms I don't understand. I was brought to Del Sol hospital from Las Cruces, NM to receive care for a fractured femur. Dr. Orr and his surgical team were amazing!! Dr.Orr explained my procedure and calmed my fears. The nurses, physical therapist and occupational therapist were kind, encouraging and supportive. A year later I have fully recovered and am back driving independently!! First I want to start by saying that I understand hospital's want to take precautions but closing waiting rooms and not allowing families wait in certain areas is ridiculous. They have limited chairs in the cafeteria too. After my mom's surgery, the MD who did it did not contact us to let us know how it went. It's ridiculous here. You can not get in to visit family, I got here so thereafter no one else was allowed to visit. Only 1 Person Per Day, once you're admitted. (Unless In the ER you can switch 100 times.) Besides they never close your curtains so you never have privacy there either. You cannot even switch off with a sibling, only 1 person Per Day only certain exceptions. But they never say what or why.. They don't work with you and don't care, honestly. I just had a massive heart attack, including CPR. I've been here a little more than a day and have yet to meet a kind smiling person.

I was here first to have my gallbladder removed and then gastric sleeve surgery six weeks later. My appointments were scheduled so I had no experience with the emergency room, which seems to be the bulk of the negative reviews. I was treated with respect and every employee I encountered was caring and truly concerned for my health and comfort. I was impressed with the safety measures during COVID and the areas I encountered in the hospital were clean and tidy. I have recommended my doctor to a friend and she will also be attending Del Sol soon! read more

Del Sol has saved my life more times than I'd like to admit. I won't go into details, but Del Sol has been helping me manage my chronic condition. This hospital is a pretty complete facility, and when I've had the misfortune of coming in as an in-patient, they've helped me come out in better health than I came in. Their billing practices are a little frustrating, but if you're covered it will just be annoying paper work, which is not that bad in exchange for quality care. On 12/24 I went to Del Sol to be treated for issues steaming from IBS-C and a nerve problem in my foot. I decided to go to Del Sol because when my wife had a bacterial problem they treated her well but things have changed. They spent more time with us during intake then actually examining me. All they did was take my blood pressure and look at my prior blood tests that I had in December. I was told their would be no purpose in taking another blood test ( news me since I was always told that ER'S have to retake your blood tests ) The Doctor, at least I think she was, asked me a few questions and completed a very basic exam. In regards to my nerve issue she simple touched the two toes and asked if I could feel her figure to which I said yes. I was than told their were no beds open and their was nothing wrong with me. Than the discharge papers took another hour. The discharge papers said that all tests were negative. What tests they didn't do a thing for me. The Medical profession is truly messed up. read more

STAY FAR AWAY!!! This hospital is a complete joke. I have a history of atrial fibrillation, and I started having an irregular heart rhythm, but it thankfully went back into a normal sinus rhythm before I got in to this crap hole. I had explained that I was experiencing palpitations earlier, but was in a normal rhythm and only wanted to talk to a doctor about continuing a prescription for metoprolol (a standard medication) when I arrived. I was brought into the exam room and given an EKG which, as was expected since I knew I was in a normal rhythm, showed nothing abnormal. Still, they brought me into a room and ordered an X-ray without bothering to ask when my last one was (less than a couple months ago). Once Dr. Motoko came in, she was extremely abrupt and had no compassion. She constantly talked over me and my wife and even refused to call the ER I was last seen at to verify my medical needs. She gave me a thousand excuses why she wouldn't write me a standard prescription, and finally when I asked what harm it would do to just write me a prescription until I can see a cardiologist, she looked at me blankly for a good 5 seconds and said, "...Hypertension?" After telling her that all I am asking is for her to treat this like I'm being totally dishonest and call the ER I was at previously, she said she would come back after helping a few other patients and doing a work up on my EKG. Out of nowhere, a girl from registration comes in and throws this agreement at me saying I agree to pay the medical expenses incurred here. I explained that all of this was completely unnecessary, she just says that I'll have to call their billing department and figure it out with them. I am now typing this still in the ER after having been here a total of 3 HOURS, and sitting here not even sure if this stupid "doctor" is even going to write me a standard prescription. Everyone here is completely incompetent and this hospital is clearly in the business of getting every penny they can out of sick people. Stay very far away from this place unless you like subpar medical care and an utter lack of care for patients. We ended up waiting for that idiot doctor to come back for an hour before we decided to leave. As we were walking out, the nurse stopped us because the fool ordered blood work for me! More unnecessary crap they were going to force us to pay for just to be told they weren't going to help us. We did not sign anything agreeing to pay for the visit and will not be paying a dime to this piece of crap hospital. Again, stay far away from this place. read more

10/21/20 was the first and last time I will ever visit the Del Sol ER. When I entered the ER door, I was told I needed to remove my surgical mask and replace it with the same exact surgical mask being handed to me by the door attendant. I felt like it compromised my safety having to take off the mask I was already wearing just to switch it to something that was exactly the same. Especially when there were people around me coughing. Then when I went to the main customer service desk to check in and told her I thought that I had pneumonia. She gave me a contemptible look...like what I just said was absurd. A look that suggested that people don't have pneumonia during Covid they only have Covid. As I waited for her to open the door to enter into the ER Bay area the door didn't open. It's not an automatic door. You have to turn the big silver handle yourself to get the door open. I don't feel that that was very safe especially when I found out that the girl that went in the ER door before me tested positive for Covid. I grab the door handle with my shirt and opened it. As I walked past the first bay on the right, they had the girl that tested positive for Covid....with the curtain OPENED. I had to walk past her as she was coughing her lungs out from Covid sharing the same air with her. I felt like it was not safe for me and it also was an invasion of her privacy. The next girl I came in contact with put the wrong size blood pressure cuff on me and crushed my arm. The reading of the blood pressure also stated (if it was accurate) that I would be in a pre-hypertensive crisis. Then she asked me if I took something for my high blood pressure. I insisted that my reading is usually normal so she changed the cuff size and finally got a normal reading. She left my PHI (personal health info) scribbled on a scrap piece of printer paper lying on the keyboard for everyone to see. She walked away from me as the cuff was still around my arm as it repeat-cycled on my arm testing my blood pressure over and over. I finally ripped the cuff off and it was still pumping with air. The fabric cuff was about to blow up like an over-inflated balloon until a random worker walked by and noticed it was about to pop and then turned off the machine. I was then asked to sign my signature five or six times in the boxes appearing on a black tablet where the print was too small for me to even read the writing on the tablet. I had no idea what I was signing. Sign here, initial here. Five or six times for each. No explanation of what I was signing and no ability to read the small print on the tablet. Next I was expecting to see an MD enter my bay area where I got a nurse practitioner instead. (Your website says your ER is run by board-certified MDs.) The nurse practitioner sits in the blue chair next to me and starts to ask me why I'm there. I tell her that my sister tested positive last night for pneumonia and we're always together and we have had the same exact cough for the same exact amount of months....and I think I have the same thing too. The nurse practitioner doesn't even so much as listen to my lungs. Her reasoning is that my pulse ox was at least 95. She kept repeating like a robot that she has to justify everything that she does, and even though I have no history of allergies, or asthma and I've had a chronic have a cough for months it doesn't justify a basic x-ray. Then she said to me "I don't know what it is you think that we would do for you here" as I stared at her in amazement at the lack of due diligence. I wasn't being taken seriously. She leaves without telling me where she's going or if she's even coming back. I'm then handed a three page document by an attendant and told to go home. The document provided a false narrative by the nurse practitioner which misrepresented the true nature of what transpired during the conversation with the nurse practitioner. The document said That I had a medical exam. What was the medical exam? Checking my vitals? That is not the same thing as an exam. She did not so much as even listen to my lungs to hear the fluid buildup or the wheezing in my lungs. The document also said I was told to quarantine for 14 days when she had never said anything like that to me. It also said I was asked if I was near any Covid infected people or visited anywhere out of the country and none of those questions were asked to me. It also said I was given a note to not return to work when that was not true either. It also said I was not cleared to go back to work until I followed up with the provider that was listed on the paper that I had never heard of before or seen before. I am extremely alarmed at the false narrative and all of its false statements. Not only did this ER refuse treatment to me but I was also put in danger from the lack of due diligence regarding Covid. I don't feel this ER would pass an audit. I think the gaps in care of this ER need to be reported to the Texas Attorney General. read more

I have visited family here at Del Sol during 2017 through April of 2018. I can not say that I have ever seen a culture or environment of true compassion or professionalism. Especially in the ER. Its a shame that it seems that most of the employees would much rather be somewhere else. A large percentage of the staff simply do not care or understand empathy. Quick in beginning but once tests were done kept asking when Dr coming in.they kept saying 45 min... 3 hours later after constantly asking for nursing supervisor he came back in n said my mom had a fracture on vertebrae, she's 88 n fell at nursing home, n nurse said she could leave n gave 2 prescription s 1 of which allergic too n set her on her way w referral to a doctor. Never saw doctor..a nurse gave diagnosis... The nurses kept saying the doctors are contracted n can't tell them anything. Absurd!!! Worst hospital the most horrible, terrible, horrid, horrendous, awful, lousy, cruel and disgusting place of a hospital I've ever been to. Everything and everyone about this hospital is completely terrible. The nurses were rude, very rude and unprofessional and unhelpful. The doctors that work there full time didn't give a shit about the patients except collecting a nice check in their pockets. when I was there I was in excruciating pain and the nurses wouldn't help me and the nurses would mock me and call me names while when I'm laying in bed dying of pain. The doctors I would tell them thinking they're doctors they're going to help me and fix the problem because they're good at their job, WRONG!!!! One situation of a few, I was bleeding and bleeding lots of blood out of my private area and I was asking the doctor for help but he basically turned his back on me said fuck you you'll be fine that's normal. My 6 month old grandson was taken there by ambulance because he was unresponsive, as soon as my daughter and him arrived they were put in a room for 45 minutes without anyone coming to see how he was doing,after a few hours of being there and an xray,which they never told us the purpose of it,they were sent home with no prescription or a diagnosis of what had happened, hospital is in such a dirty state that for a moment we thought we were in a Mexican public hospital,,ended up taking him to children's hospital where they really went above and beyond to find out what he had.Never again will we go back to this horrible place. read more

Three of my family members who are not from the El Paso area were involved in a rollover/car wreck. My father has been in this hospital for 46 days and the communication between staff members is horrible to non-existent. There is also lack of communication between the staff and my father and the rest of my family. This is no way to run a hospital where consistent and good care is needed. read more

I will never set foot in this facility again. About half of the staff was professional and considerate. The other half was the most experienced and rudest. Telling me on a Sunday afternoon, I had to move my wife to a hospice by Monday morning really sums up how crass they can get. I can't say thank you to the ICU staff. The whole hospital is so kind and caring. Very compassionate and loving. Even down to the cafeteria staff. Have been here for several days in a row and they even show concern about us. The staff and doctors are very attentive and keep us in the loop all the time. I am an Active duty soldier that has back issues that are combat related. I had gone in over Memorial Day weekend because I could hardly walk due to sever spasms. I get inside and instantly get an attitude from the guy sitting at the desk. Now the wait to get the vitals done was only but 10-15 minutes, not bad there. I get wheeled to the waiting area and sat there for about 45-60 minutes, still not bad for a holiday weekend. They gave me a shot of toradol and some Vicodin and told me to wait for 20 minutes. An hour and forty minutes later the checked to see how I was doing and I am still in pain and can hardly walk. They discharged me, I NEVER SAW THE DOCTOR and I am back to square one. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THAT S*** HOLE AND IF YOU'RE A SOLDIER, I WOULD NOT GO THERE EITHER. AS MUCH AS I HATE WBAMC, YOU ARE BETTER OFF GOING THERE! read more

This is truly one of the worst hospitals I have ever experienced, either personally or by a family member. 1. On one occasion, I had a medic remove an IV from my arm without gloves. 2. My mother went in one time for food poisoning, and in the ER in the next tent beside her, I overheard a medic disputing with another staff member because a vial of blood from the patient had not been labeled; when the staffer asked the medic if he would take the risk for it, the medic said yes he would. I could tell that the patient spoke Spanish and these guys were speaking English, so my concern was that she did not even understand what they were doing. If I were to go back to that night, I would have ripped open the curtain and told them to not lay a hand on her or that I would call the police. 3. When my father had cancer, the oncologist who saw him, was horrible and cruel with her bedside manner when he said he would get a second opinion instead of just automatically accepting chemotherapy. Then, later just a few days before he died, another doctor just looked at him and said, "Mr. Pino, you're going to die." No sensitivity, no compassionate delivery of the message, just straight up hopelessness. I thought the hospital was a place of healing and a place of compassion, but this hospital is nowhere close to that. If you are considering going to this hospital for treatment, I would strongly recommend that you get another opinion quickly and get out of there. I'm surprised that the AMA hasn't already shut them down. read more

My mother recently spent 8 days there (ER & ICU) due to multiple rib fractures and everybody treated her with the utmost care. She is very grateful for their professionalism, tenderness, and nurturing care. We would highly recommend this hospital to anybody. read more

My son had surgery june 15,2017 on his back. He never saw his physician after surgery. He experienced stomach bleeding and had to put tube in his stomach. Not much explanation was given as to what the problem was. He did improve and felt good enough to go home. All doctors signed his discharge papers except one rude doctor who said he was not signing him out until he made sure he got paid! The VA is paying for this surgery and hospital had all my sons information. It was uncalled for this doctor to express his concern to the patient without checking with someone first. Left us all with bad thoughts about whether patient or money was most important at this hospital. read more

Pregnant mom in a car crash, and still had to wait FOREVER to be seen!! I know it's a hospital and wait time is expected, but checking on my baby was crucial! All anger aside, the staff was friendly and both supportive and comforting. My baby was fine and they even took the time to show me my baby and tell me it's a girl! I wasn't expecting anything for myself, but was surprised when I was prescribed medicine for my head and a neck sprain. Would return here, but hopefully won't need to! read more

I had a procedure completed on 2/8/19 and can say that while the wait was a bit much but, I understand how most hospitals operate. I can say the treatment by staff was EXCELLENT and very PROFESSIONAL...I give Del Sol high marks regarding empathy and is doing very well. I read some of the negative remarks in the ratings posted and realize that when folks start insulting an organization by using street trash jargon, the problem is an emotional/cognitive disconnect and can be considered as one would an immature problematic person.....KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK DEL SOL, in the "real world" it is the service you provide to help the healing process. Disregard the trash talk because "THEY" were brought up by heathens and/or folks without value (my opinion only)!!! read more

I normally go there because it's a short wait compare to the other local hospitals here. I am not an El Paso native. Anyhow, I was there last night n the entire visit from beginning to end was a complete waste of my time n a disaster. The staff there were incompetent n had no compassion whatsoever....including the so-called doctor, he kept referring to himself as...he was only a PA (Physicians Assistant). There were NO actual doctor on duty. The paramedic guy was the one to discharge me n also was extremely rude. He spoke to me a condescending manner, like I didn't know what he was talking about. He spoke to me like I was a child. I was extremely upset, but held my composure n had to put him in his place. I'm not going to say what I went in there for, but there is a huge lack of urgency n compassion there. All 4 ppl that I dealt with last night ( including the PA) should NOT be there, if they are not in the profession of caring for sick ppl.
