We ordered the chicken quesadilla and two tacos. The Tacos were average, I would not order them again. However...the quesadilla was soooo nasty and disgusting to even look at, we threw it out. The paper stuck to the tortilla and it looked like cat food mixed with orange goop. We attemped to try it but we both gagged and decided it was not worth it. The management seem to be missing. Taea the only cashier asked manager on duty for quarters but was told no one got change. Taea was friendly despite most customer grumpy about waiting 15 minutes to receive their food. The workers preparing the seem to be trying hard but overwhelmed. I came here for the first time and ordered the equivalent of what I would normally get at a competitor restaurant. A few things: The seasoning on the meat is more bland. Still has flavor, but something is different about it. Not necessarily good different. They put way more cheese on their tacos, and it seems fresher. This is a plus. The standard tacos come with tomatoes, which is a nice perk. Overall, it was a bit underwhelming. I will give it another try sometime soon and check out some other things on the menu. 25 years ago I really liked Del Taco in Cali when I was in the military and wanted to eat large portions of okay to pretty good fast food. This did not live up to my old experiences. Slow and rude staff, out of sausage. You know, mostly the staff. They ruined a stop for me, and I don't think I will be back. ETA: The marketing boss emailed the same morning and wanted details to correct the issues. I gave them, and she offered to mail a gift card to retry the location. I will update after I get the card and I am in the area there. Update: Having interacted with me twice to get details and offering to send a card so that I could retry the place, Del Taco failed to follow thru. The service isn't always great, and the food isn't always "enough", but the manager will make it right if you bring it to his attention. I've probably had 20 8-layer burritos this year at this location. Half a dozen of them were more tortilla than filling. Went to Del taco for the first time to try the beyond burrito, the vegan meat and the fries were undercooked and the burrito was cold upon arrival. I've been to this location twice now and I got to say what is up? The quality of the food doesn't even taste like Del taco..I don't get it. I've had my fair share of Del taco in Cali, they're on just about every corner. Were talking main staple and the food taste very different. It's good and also way cheaper there. That location is also much pricier, but more in line with taste as the west coast locations. Today at my visit I ordered two chicken soft tacos and a pinto and cheese. The chicken taco was rubbery and had an odd taste. The beans were also not good, hardly no chesse on any of the food. It had been several years since I had eaten at a Del Taco. I didn't remember being too fond of it, but I was sick of my usual lunch choices and decided to try something new(ish). Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised! I got two street tacos - one steak, one chicken - and a bean and cheese burrito with the green hot sauce. The tacos kind of blew me away. Obviously not the best tacos I've ever had, but definitely the best fast food tacos. Both meats were served in generous portions and were obviously marinated and packed with flavor. The shells held together well (which can be rare for corn). The onion, cilantro, and fresh avocado were the icing on the cake. The cheese and bean burrito was boring AF, even with the hot sauce. But shame on me for expecting much from refried beans and cheese. Lastly, the hot sauces - I sampled both the mild and the hot, and both were very good and actually a bit spicy. Taco Bell who??? Oh Del, the only thing that could make you better is if you opened closer to work and home! I was at my new favorite Meijer across the way and dropped in here to pickup some drive thru for lunch. A Spicy Jack quesadilla, two Grilled Chicken tacos and two Del tacos with the works. The quesadilla was actually a little spicy...nice work on surprising me with some actual heat Del. I will say that the Bell does make a nice quesadilla. Del could probably fill them a little fuller but no foul. Their Grilled Chicken tacos were phenomenal. Actual grilled chicken with a mayo sauce and some other fixins...so much better than the Bell's. Their regular tacos blew me away though. I've never had a fast food taco that was SO LOADED with meat and cheese! They were huge and they tasted fresh and they were perfect! I was having a snickers moment and the nearest , fast place was del taco- I'm not one for fast food, but Taco Bell has always been my junk food place - especially after a late night out- LOL For fast food, Americanized taco/ mexican food - like this BETTER than Taco Bell. We ordered 2 tacos- one hard/ one soft and macho nacho beef- My tacos looked like tacos- meaning they were actually filled with good ratio of beef, lettuce , cheese ( tomatoes were thrown in too) and there actually was cheese on the taco- not a sprinkle of 5-6 - the beef wasn't overly salty. They were perfect tacos. The nachos were yummy too biiiig portion and again ratio of toppings to chips perfect. They even had jalapeño peppers...Next time I'll do a side by side of TB VS DT. This is a brand new location and so far I'm impressed. I've been to the Dearborn Heights location, so I knew what to expect. The food is decent and reasonably priced. I like the way this one is laid out. The line goes straight from the front door to the cash registers. Tables are along the side by the windows. They designed the parking lot so you can exit by going onto a side street with a traffic light in order to easily make a left turn onto Middlebelt Road if you need to. I ordered the burrito and taco combo along with a mini bacon quesadilla (sp?). It's good quality for the price and I will definitely be going back again.
