Ordered a variety of stuff here for my first visit. The service was good and timely. Ambiance was spacious. The food was underwhelming to the point where I would say Taco Bell is better overall. I did get a lot of burritos and quesadillas to try. They were not so good. I also got the Macho Nachos, which wasn't bad. The prices are similar to Taco Bell also. There were a few customers but mostly drive thru so it was quiet. The staff was kind and didn't make us order on the kiosk. The girl was sweet and asked all the patrons if they needed anything. The food was fresh and hot. I ordered fish tacos and my husband had carne asada tacos. The tacos were on the small corn tortillas. Mine had 2 tacos and the carne asada meal came with 3. After eating the tacos and best French fries ever, we weren't hungry like we thought we'd be. I'd eat here more often if I live in town. read more

While the woman who took my order and served me was very kind, the food wasn't anything to write home about. First visit was to drive thru on a hot day. Car A/c was having a hard time keeping the car cool for the 25 min wait in direct sun. We ordered a drink and two 8-layer veg burritos, which I assumed would be ready by the time we made it to the window, but they weren't, we waited at least 5 mins after paying. Service was short on answering questions I had rewards offered in app that did not show up in my meal. The meal itself was cold. I would not feed this meal to anyone. I went here two times.I went through the drive through the first time and was greeted with "what do you want" so I promptly drove away. The second time I went there for whatever reason I got a chicken taco and a beef one as well. The beef taco was so bland it was like eating water, there was no saving it either because they forgot my sauce. The chicken taco was no savior, I took a single bite of it, it had the texture of wet cat food and it was super bland as well. Much excitement surrounded the news that Del Taco was coming to Tallahassee. Tallahassee Foodies FB page was abuzz with excitement from those who had experienced DT out west. My first trip there was a disappointment. I paid over $13 for a stuffed quesadilla taco with carne asada upgrade meal. The tacos were small and of marginal quality. Have been looking forward to Del Taco's return to Tallahassee. Unlike other places, their cheese is grated fresh each morning instead of coming out of a bag of previously frozen cheese. They cook their beans daily instead of getting them out of a tub. I find their crispy taco shells stay fresh a lot longer than Taco Bell's. By the time I get home with a crunchy from Taco Bell, the crispy shell is stuck to the paper and over half the time pulls apart when I try to pick it up. Del Taco's is as crispy as if I had just ordered it. Their ground beef is much more tasty that Taco Bell's and looks more like ground beef than the ground beef/filler mixture that Taco Bell uses. I think Taco Bell's sauce packets have more flavor and a wider availability of heat choices. Just hope that Del Taco starts carrying breakfast soon. read more

It all tastes the same. If you're hoping for a blast from the past, don't waste your time. It isn't the same. As most of the other reviews say, you may as well just go to Taco Bell. I've only been twice, and they've not gotten my order right either time. The orders weren't complicated. I did ask them to leave tomatoes off for one item, so may that was too difficult. But giving me one thing that costs 1/2 the price as a substitute for another thing twice seems more than a coincidence. If I go back, I'll sit right there in the drive-thru and check every item. If there is a customer behind me, they will likely have already waited a long time so another few seconds won't be a big deal. read more

Just tried Del Taco for the first time, and the last. Heard great things over the years, there must be a different Del Taco out west. Good news was the food got there fast, but I was the only customer. I think I interrupted the girls conversion judging by the lack of eye contact or friendly welcoming chit chat I'm accustomed to. Got the Thursday Soft Taco special and I thought a beef and bean combo burrito, but I received a beef burrito. Whoever shot the photography for the menu did a great job dressing up the food, because the real food looks nothing like the reader board. Meat portions were underwhelming, food was semi warm, cheese wasn't even melting a little. Gave it an "under cooked taste". If flour tortillas are your thing, this your place. I've been to many Del Tacos over the years and this is by far the worst. The food was room temperature, the burritos were barely wrapped and fell apart in seconds. The staff acted like they couldn't be bothered to do anything, wasn't even greeted when we walked in, just got a death stare. On top of everything it was $33 for two people (two combos, two snack tacos and cheesecake bites). Will absolutely never come back, didn't even finish our food, threw away about half of it. Just tried having an early dinner at Del Taco today. Just me and my husband so we thought we'd try a couple items. We both got the two taco combo that came with a small fry and a small drink. I added sour cream and Guac on the side. Wanted to try their burgers so I ordered what thought was a single patty cheeseburger. Hubby wanted a bean cheese burrito from the cheap eats menu. I also ordered the caramel cheesecake bites just see what they were like. My food bill came to $34. Well this better be great for that price. Self serve coke machine was not working. We sat and waited for maybe five minutes and our order was ready. The fries were hot and crispy. The tacos were fine. The burrito was ok. But.... The burger was terrible. Bun was dried out. Meat was an overcooked piece of shoe leather. A small swab of ketchup on the bottom and a typical piece of unmelted plastic cheese on top. I returned to the service counter and complained where was the lettuce and tomato? I was told I only ordered a cheeseburger and that's how it came. Only after I said that the online picture had lettuce and tomato did the shift manager say she'd make it right. After waiting another five minutes I got my replacement burger. Not much better but at least I had a few shreds of lettuce and one slice of tomato. The fried cheesecake bites were greasy and too doughy and hard. I had been thinking about my first meal at Del Taco all day. I was definitely very disappointed. For amount spent ..$34... we could have gone to San Miguel's and enjoyed a real Mexican dinner. I'll never go there again. My recommendation is if want to spend way too much for mediocre food... by all means go to Del Taco but for good food for the same price go elsewhere. read more
