Taqueria Miranda is an old gas station converted to a taco joint in Tallahassee, Florida that further reinforces my old belief that the best Mexican food does not come from high-end restaurants, but rather these humble little mom-and-pop type places that have zero ambiance, but the food coming out of the kitchen is killer and shows how amazing of a cuisine Mexican food can be. As I walked in, I glanced at their menu hung up next to the cashier. I ended up going with two tacos (one asada and one chorizo) and a gordita (for this protein, I opted for barbacoa). The tacos were about three dollars each ($2.49 to be exact) and the gordita was four dollars. After I ordered my food at the counter, i chose a table. The food came relatively fast. I went over to the salsa bar which had onions, cilantro, radishes, and three sauces and grabbed a sampling. All in all, the food was very good. Well, the tacos were. The gordita was okay, but nothing amazing. I would definitely recommend this particular establishment and I will give it five stars overall. read more

I have ordered chili relleno after chili relleno in Tallahassee restaurants for the past twenty years. THIS is hands down the absolutely best chili relleno I have found. They were huge poblanos, stuffed with the best tasting filling and smothered in a very flavorful, spicy but not too hot red sauce. We ordered takeout and also had various street tacos: Chicken, carnitas, steak and shrimp. The homemade tortillas were stuffed full and their salsas, fresh and delicious. The salsa verde was not spicy hot, but the avocado salsa was. Mix the two together and you have a flavor bomb! And the pickled red onions added that extra zing . I was lazy and wanted to order and I heard this place was good. We ordered 2 asada, 2 shredded beef and 2 carnitas tacos. We also ordered rice and beans and chips and Chips & Queso. It was all average. Not bad but definitely not craveable. The tortillas also seemed a bit stale and I guess delivery didn't make it shine. The beef seemed a little dry, a little bland but it was tender, the carnitas taco looked more like shredded chicken and was also bland. The Chips & Queso was a miss for me too, the chips seemed like a mix of fresh and a bit stale and the queso was a bit watery. If I want to order I will not revisit this place. It's not bad food, the order was exactly as expected, inexpensive (even through DoorDash) but it was just so middle of the road and think there are better taco stands. Places that make you do the happy food dance. Maybe eating there is better but if I'm that area I'm going to a near by spot that is way better tasting to me. I haven't gone to their physical location, but I did get to experience their food truck last weekend at the free concert Cascades Park was hosting. Have to say that I'm surprised to find authentic Mexican food around these parts. Mainly saying this as the two carne asada tacos I had were delicious, but adding those sauces, particularly the hot sauce, oh baby! That hot sauce made me think of my childhood. My dad, a Mexican himself, often made spicy goodies that made my mouth be on fire. I hated this as a child, but now as an adult, it's a feeling I love. I slathered on the hot sauce, not expecting it to be spicy as it never is, and well, my companion told me I was red and resembling a tomato. I somehow resisted the urge on getting a third taco, too, so yes - I definitely need to remedy that. I want to go to the actual location and try more varieties. Moreover, I believe I saw menudo on their menu and that's not something I see every day. read more

Taqueria Miranda is outstanding. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, great flavors, excellent service, and all at a good price, look no further. When you walk in there is a large menu on the counter. It covers all the bases and from what I've eaten, and what I've seen, you can't go wrong with anything. I love street tacos, and love the ones here. I had three tacos: pastor (pork with pineapple), barbacoa (shredded beef) and lengua (beef tongue). I got the Mexican style, which comes on corn tortillas with cilantro and onion with lime wedges on the side (they also offer Tex-mex style with lettuce and cheese and you can get flour tortillas). I also had rice and beans on the side. Everything was fantastic. They have a counter where you can get cilantro, pickled onions, radishes, and 3 types of sauce. All delicious. The building is very hard to miss. It's an old gas station. We became a regular at this place quickly. Just about every time I visit tally, I show my face here. It's SO good. Staff are very nice every time and pretty personal. I got to know many of them fast. Tuesday's were my favorite day to go because of taco Tuesday and the special. I'd get 3 tacos with a side of rice and beans. Even if it wasn't Tuesday that's what I would still get. It never steered me wrong. Bottom line, I'd definitely recommend this place. Let me preface this post by saying this review is solely based on their menudo soup. This is the worst menudo that we have ever eaten in any restaurant. Just by the first appearance, we were put off by the amount of oil sitting on top of the broth. I have never had a menudo with this much oil floating on top. The broth had a beautiful red color and we were expecting the flavor to overcome the greasiness of the broth, however upon tasting the broth, there was no flavor and no hint of spice. We continued to try to find something positive out of our entree, but when we began to scoop up the tripe with our spoons, we encountered the pieces to be 3 to 4 inches in size, when the pieces are supposed to be bite size pieces that it very difficult to eat. Definitely one of the more authentic joints in town. One of my favorite things about this place is the toppings bar. The bar consists of chopped onions, grilled jalapeños, pickled onions, grilled onions, and various sauces. It was nice to be able to put what I want on my food in the ratios I like. From what I can tell this looks to be a newer establishment, Located across the street from Woodspring Suites on W Tennessee are the bright orange signs of Taqueria Miranda. Ordered carne asada tacos and a quesadilla and they were ready to go in minutes! The tacos don't come with any toppings so make sure to grab the onion, cilantro, lime & salsa etc so that you can top it otherwise it's just meat on a tortilla. Adequate portions for an almost unbelievable price. The tacos were good, decent amount of meat a touch on the dry side but nothing the salsa couldn't fix, the tortillas were alsobit tough. $3 for a quesadilla gotta be too good to be true. The quesadilla was more of an open faced taco not quite the gooey pressed presentation I'm used to but still good! Big highlight, they have jarritos! Decent food for crazy prices. read more
