We've even referred friends + relatives to them (high praise). Our salesman Chad Schirtzinger, his sales manager Chrissy Boasetti, and their fabrication + installation manager Toney Curry were all wonderful to work with - knowledgeable, professional, fair, reasonable, and genuinely nice. They have a big selection of slabs, and a huge room of remnants they can fabricate for smaller jobs, too. We weren't planning to, but found a rem to upgrade the countertop in a half-bath, too. This install was big and challenging - it took 3 huge slabs of matching Quartzite for a giant island and a full-height wall backsplash behind the stove. It took 8 strong men to carry and set the big island slab - I promise we were holding our breath the whole time they were carrying it in. There were a few small hiccups - that's going to happen with a big and complicated job like this. They fixed everything to our satisfaction - no hesitation, no complaints, no problem - they consistently "did the right thing" (which is refreshing and somewhat unusual these days). We kept changing our minds in the design process, and they handled our ideas and frequent changes with expert guidance, kindness and grace. AND... because hard surfaces aren't cheap, and Quartzite is quite expensive (2.5x-3x the cost of granite) - their prices were fair, fair, fair. They were fully 1/3 cheaper than another well-known granite fabricator I've spent a LOT of money with in the past (and never will again). The Granite Guy's prices were fair and reasonable for what we got. I cannot say this strongly enough - we recommend The Granite Guy 100%. 1,000%. 10,000%. Our customer experience with them was awesome and what you'd hope for, their prices were fair, the people are awesome, and we got exactly what we wanted at a price that didn't feel like we were being ripped off (if I show you the quote we got from "those other guys", you'll understand what I mean). The first step was turning on the water. Ours is located in a utility closet off the laundry room as we have no basement. The technician could not locate the turn on and kept saying she found most turn on valves in the basement. We have no basement. After a few minutes I suggested we reschedule if she was not confident about she needed to do. The technician was promptly out of the house and did not acknowledge me calling after her to ask if there was anything I needed to do. I called the office and received no sympathy or apology for the problem. They need a course in customer service. The earliest they had was 18 days away. Both the owner and individual I spoke with first had no interest in trying to work me in sooner. The owner came across to me as irritated by my call. On top of all this they sent me a bill almost immediately after the technician left. They have also sent me a reminder, but say they have canceled the bill. They were great as AK Irrigation.

When I later examined blinds at big box stores and other stores, I saw the quality differences in the blinds. Hunter Douglas blinds were clearly superior. Description of Work: We had the shower seat torn out and replaced with granite. The seat front, sides and shower basin were removed and replaced with tile. We had two showers we wanted old, dated tile removed and new, large profile tile installed. The…read moreshowers were simple and straightforward. Carifa supplied the Schluter materials and installed them (Kerdi Board wall substrate behind the wall tile and Ditra Uncoupling membrane under floor tile). These are without an equal. There was a lack of communication during the home visit to prepare a quote. It was disappointing. We almost cancelled the entire project with Carifa based off that experience. The Owner, Joe, got involved when I called the Carifa office after no response from the salesperson. Joe listened to my experience, took over preparing an accurate proposal/quote. An important detail to note: each homeowner is responsible to select and purchase any tiles and certain Schluter products like edge or transition profiles. You can work with any supplier you want. The salesperson will steer you to The Tile Shop. They said they used to work at The Tile Shop. We had already purchased our wall and floor tiles from Floor and Decor. Carifa's salesperson started telling me we had purchased factory defective materials and subpar materials; something that is not true at all!! We had not picked up the tile from Floor and Décor yet so they did not "see" our materials but made these disparaging remarks. Why did we continue with Carifa? Because they used the Schluter products and had the installation craftsman. After getting past the preconstruction details Carifa sent Paco who prepared the areas where work was performed by covering all floors and furniture with protection. The same day Paco demolished and removed all the existing wall tile and materials down to the framing. Paco is a hard working, focused worker who kept our home clean during the demolition phase. No dumpster was provided during demolition and demolished materials were piled on our driveway until a dumpster was delivered a day or so later. After demolition Jack and Pedro arrived to complete the prep work and begin installation of the Schluter wall and floor products. I recognized quickly that Jack is a talented craftsman understanding that the products being installed under the finished tile are key to the final product. Jack kept us informed with everything he was doing including asking for our input regarding installation preferences. I cannot say enough good things about Jack. After he completed all the installation Carifa advertises they perform a "final walkthrough." It's also in the proposal. Jack completed all installation on Wednesday February 25th. On Tuesday of the following week, March 3rd, I had no communication from anyone at Carifa. There were a couple things that Carifa did not perform; sealing the grout that the proposal said would be performed 96 hours after the tile was grouted and reinstalling our toilet removed to install new floor tile. I reinstalled the toilet. I emailed Joe at Carifa of these items and asked for a (credit) for the items not performed. I never got a reply. On March 3rd I contacted Tom, Carifa's project manager, and asked for a status update and requested a date for the "final walkthrough." Tom came out the next day, Wednesday March 4th; one week after Jack had completed all installation work. Tom acknowledged that Joe had received my request/email for the deduct for work not performed and forwarded it to Tom. He spent a few minutes (literally a few) looking at both showers. Having performed hundreds of similar "close out final inspection walkthroughs" on projects I was ready to bring my Carifa experience to some closure. 3 weeks after the "final walkthrough" I received a final invoice that did deduct what I had requested. I promptly (the same day) paid the balance due. There has been no "thank you for your business" nor any communication from Carifa whatsoever. Here's my point: people who choose Carifa are going to pay a premium price for the privilege of having work performed. Carifa may use the finest materials available and have craftsman like Jack installing materials, but when everything before and after Jack is bush league and amateurish it sours the experience and make no mistake about it: you are paying for service too. The bottom line: would I choose Carifa again? Maybe. Having more 4 decades of high end construction experience I have not often been "the customer" but I know what a customer is. I moved forward with my eyes wide open hoping I would get the end result I sought after: two showers that will provide years of trouble free use. I believe I received that. Each person who has read this far will need to make their own decision. Lots of Yelp reviewers did not have this experience. My Ratings: pre and post construction experience gets a One (1). The installation work performed by Paco, Jack, and Pedro: I give Jack a 10, but Yelp limits the highest choice to 5 out of 5. Overall Carifa gets a generous three (3).

We were given the contact information for John Lowry. We reached out to John via text message, and he got back to us quickly and set up an appointment to meet with us at our condo. John arrived with a large variety of samples, and he made informed recommendations about practical floor options to best update all of the rooms in our condo. During this same visit, John measured all of the rooms and helped us decide on both carpeting and hard flooring in under two hours. Written estimates were provided to us via email before the end of that same day. We were able to schedule installation within a couple of weeks. We probably could have had the installation scheduled even sooner, but we had painting that we had scheduled to complete first. We were no longer living in our condo when the installation occurred. Everyone involved with the installation easily worked with our realtor, who was on-site to grant access to the condo, and with me via telephone. We were very pleased with the final results. Worse, I received a $150 gift card for the deep clean, then was told that we'd have to pay an additional $100, despite the gift card stating it was all included. We were also told we'd get to keep the equipment used after our cleaning... we don't have a mop. For four hours, only one person cleaned our house. Literally nothing quoted via email, spoken about over the phone and written on my gift card were completed except a thorough vacuum, the window sils and some of the blinds quickly wiped down and 3/4 of the floors were mopped. And the bed was made. She even had the nerve to tell us that we owed her another hour because it took her longer than she expected. Beyond disappointed. I clean better than this and I will never use this service again.
