Special fish appetizer, "tiger prawn" platter, Butter Chicken, Rice
    Jerell M.

Checked out the Delhi Diner during the Solano St fest because of the nice outside appearance and the reviews on Yelp. When we entered, I was in awe of the restaurant space. The spacious and open ambience, along with the decor, established the vibe of the cuisine. The servers were welcoming and provided all the necessary plates and utensils for my little children, and there were at least 3-4 different staff members who checked in to make sure we were taken care of. It was an extensive menu with some interesting offerings. The special fried fish appetizer was a highlight and one I would love to try again. In addition, all of the stews/curries were top notch flavor and enjoyable with the rice. Regrettably, the tandori chicken was fairly dry (almost like the pre-cook was beyond what would stand well with the sizzling plate) and the serving size didn't justify the price. Also, the grilled tiger prawns made me question if we actually were receiving tiger prawns - they were quite small and definitely did not justify the price of the entree. Between the staff, the restaurant vibes, and most of the stew/appetizer offerings, this is a very good place that I wouldn't mind suggesting to someone looking for a nice casual place to enjoy Indian. However, there are definitely some spots (all grilled plates) that would encourage me to try other places instead.

Ordered from this place through DoorDash and was so disappointed none of my three items that I ordered was taped up for food safety. the naan bread look like it's been tampered with. I don't understand why they don't staple it or tape it up to make sure no one gets into my food before it arrives to me. It was a waste of food, cause I had to throw it all away.

Refused to take a gift card purchased from their website. My parents purchased a 100 dollar gift card as a gift so I could enjoy a meal around my birthday. I would not have returned if I had not been for the gift card. I've been 5 times and the last 3 visits have been underwhelming food wise. Today they refused the gift card and said I needed to come another time when the owner was there. I will not go back. Too many other good spots that serve Indian food to get messed around like this. Congrats you lost a customer and stole 100 dollars.

Delicious food with vegan, dairy free, and gluten free options! Absolutely love this place! Family owned and they are very accommodating with our requests. We get their Pumpkin Tikka Masala with Garlic Roti (all Vegan and sooo good)! Tip: Add extra Tikka Masala sauce if you like to dip. Their Roti has a craveable chewy texture that no other place makes. Also try their Spinach Dosa. The filling is so creamy and flavorful! Tip: Reheat this in your oven until it's crispy. It's even better the next day! We get it delivered through Grubhub. $0 fees for orders over $50. And the restaurant packs everything carefully and thoughtfully!

    Garlic-less garlic naan

Ordered via doordash. Food is mediocre at best - garlic naan has literally no garlic, to give you an idea of the quality. Stay away!

I was in the Berkeley area after class and absolutely starving. I've been wanting to try Indian food for a while because I've heard so many good things about the flavors and cuisine. I found Delhi Diner on Yelp and decided to give it a try -- and I'm so glad I did! The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially since it was my first time trying Indian food. He took the time to explain the menu and helped me choose a few items. I ended up ordering Chicken Tikka Masala, naan, basmati rice, and a Mango Lassi to go. Even after my 30-minute drive back to Hayward, the food was still hot and smelled amazing. The Chicken Tikka Masala was rich and flavorful -- the chicken was perfectly tender, and that sauce... honestly, I could just eat it with naan alone. The Mango Lassi was unlike any drink I've ever had -- creamy, refreshing, and perfectly sweet with real mango flavor. I'm so happy I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried Indian food for the first time here. I paid around $36 for everything, and it was enough for two to three sittings. Delhi Diner has definitely made me a fan and now I know why they are rated some of the best food in the East Bay-- I'll be back soon to try more from their menu! I'm hooked!

goat curry - didn't taste like much, sadly

One line review: This was average -- surprising, given the reviews. We really wanted to like this place. And there were things to enjoy. The physical space is attractive (though a bit cool on the March night of our visit), the service attentive. But the food was only okay. We had goat curry (not enough salt, not especially flavorful), chicken tikka masala (spicy, the way we ordered it; best thing on the table), garlic naan (didn't taste of garlic), lachcha paratha (fine), and veggie samosas (tasty but small). We also had a chai (smallish) and a nimbu paani (this was kind of salty -- like a gatorade -- not my favorite). On the whole, the food was adequate but not special -- disappointing given the huge number of glowing reviews. The service was friendly and attentive, though our waitress had limited English and had a hard time answering some of our questions. A man (owner? manager?) came out to greet us before we left and was super friendly. But even though the restaurant calls itself a 'tip-free zone,' they charge a non-optional 18% service charge. I didn't care for that. I'd rather make that determination for myself. Parking was free on Solano and in the nearby neighborhood. Bottom line: Given the high reviews, I wonder if we just ordered the wrong items on this first visit. But it is unlikely that we'll return, as we've already had better Indian food in the same area and I really dislike the compulsory service charge.

Absolutely love this place -- my go-to spot for Indian food in the East Bay! Great ambience and great food.

Came here on a Sunday for lunch and enjoyed the food and ambience overall. They have plenty of seating space inside with nice interiors. We tried their Chana chaat, chicken tikka masala, malai kofta, naan and goat biryani. The biryani and malai kofta was alright and chicken tikka masala and naan were really good. For drinks their jaljeera was very refreshing. The service was pretty quick and staff was very attentive.

    Plenty of seating.

We are back. Once again ... the tables were clean and well set, superior quality original foods, fresh ingredients, and gracious staff. The place was busy so I think reservations would be a good idea but walk-ins during non-peak times are fine. There was 3 of us dining. Talasi was our amazing server. And he speaks fluently in English and Japanese as well as his native Indian dialect. It was fun to share speaking in different tongues. Also a very nice young lady helped. We ordered 3 styles of different proteins Tofu, Shrimp, and chicken.. You may request Halal, vegan, or regular proteins. We ordered the incredible garlic Naan bread, rice, and I ate the Butter Chicken. We shared as usual. Deeeelish. Everything I have ever eat from here is so complex and tasty. Highly recommended and the service was amazing.

Ate lunch here. The food was very good. I had lamb vindaloo. The lamb was tender and flavorful. The veggie samosas were very good also. Beautiful restaurant. Great ambiance and great service. The staff was very attentive. F/U: I ordered gobi mancherian to go. Ate it for dinner. It was REALLY good!

First thing. I entered the beautifully designed empty building just before lunch ended. The gentleman behind the counter was extremely kind and helpful. He gave me some suggestions, explained what a few other things on the menu were, gave me the best tips on heating the food up. I was buying dinner and it was lunch time. I waited in my car for my food to be ready. When I went back in, he said he came outside looking for me to give me my food. He then gave me a complimentary drink. I don't know what it was but it looked like mango something. I drank the whole thing on my way home and it was delicious!!! I can't wait to have the food.

Sorry ate too much before photo lol but I got the lamb tikka masala, my niece got the chicken tikka masala.

I decided to try this place because it had lunch Thali (specials) and chicken pumpkin which I thought was interesting. We went there early afternoon and got seated quickly. There's inside and outside seating. I decided on the chicken pumpkin thali, ordered pani puri and a mango lassi. My friend ordered the chicken tikka masala thali. The thali comes in a metal lunch style tray. In each section is something different. It comes with rice, salad, daal, naan, papad, avocado raita, potato cucumber achar, and your choice of the entrees listed. The pani puri came out fast. The dough shells were crispy and filled with a spiced mashed potato filling. The tangy flavor water helped cut through the filling. Just dont put too much of the water on it. The mango lassi was good, a little on the sweeter side. I got the chicken pumpkin medium spicy, which felt like a medium. Chicken pumpkin was velvety, had a decent amount of chicken pieces although a little dry. I could taste the pumpkin which had sweetness. I feel for the price of the lunch Thali ranging from $18-21 depending which entree is a good deal since you can try a few different dishes/sides. I wouldn't mine coming again to try other dishes or happy hour.

We arrived around opening (4:00 PM) today, August 29, 2026. Our server failed to mention that the crab samosa was unavailable until after we ordered it. The person who poured and delivered our drinks wrongly gave each of us the other person's drink. My wife was then mortified to discover two unmistakable drops of blood on her glass, and after reporting it to the waitstaff, she was gaslit by being told that they were instead wine. We ordered four dishes total. They delivered three of them correctly and a fourth dish that we hadn't ordered. We immediately informed our server of the issue, but they repeated the name of the dish and left. We called them over again to clarify if this was the dish that we had ordered, as it looked nothing like what the menu described. She said that she made a mistake because both dishes started with the same word. We then told her that we didn't want the wrong item nor did we want to wait for the missing item. Instead, the server left us with the wrong item and then delivered the missing item a few minutes later and charged us for it. In short, the food is good, but the staff at Noor are inattentive and irresponsible.

The chicken tikka masala is a classic and definitely worth getting; it's flavorful and reliably good every time. But what really surprised me was the shrimp curry. I went in expecting the shrimp to be a bit overcooked or limited in quantity, but that wasn't the case at all. The shrimp were actually cooked really well and there was a generous amount in the dish, making it feel like a great value. One thing to keep in mind, rice doesn't automatically come with the curries, so you'll have to order it separately if you want it. That said, we usually skip the rice and go for naan instead, specifically the potato naan and garlic naan. Between the two, you get a really nice contrast in texture. The potato naan is thicker, soft, and fluffy on the inside, almost like a comforting, filled bread, while the garlic naan is thinner with a slightly crispy edge. Make sure not to sleep on the free chai tea, it's easy to miss if you're not looking for it. Off to the right of the cashier desk, there's a little self-serve station with cups, sugar packets, stir sticks, and a large container filled with hot chai. You can pour as much as you want, whenever you want, which is a nice touch and a great way to round out the meal. One thing to note about the atmosphere: there are occasional slow periods where the place can get really quiet, and you might even find yourself as the only table there. It can feel a little awkward in those moments, but it just depends on the time of day. When it's busy, though, it has a much more lively, energetic feel. Overall, it's a solid, low-key spot with good food, a family-friendly environment, and a few nice little perks that make it stand out.

Vik's Chaat is so cool! I can't believe we've never truly experienced it until recently. Located on 4th Street, it's def worthy of checking out during a lovely summer weekend afternoon. I noticed they have happy hour weekly, and the market opening around 10:30a and Chaat around 11a. They have daily specials, and also many kiddo friendly dishes too. Coined "The SF Bay Area's Original Indian Street Food Restaurant", we had such a fun time exploring foods and fare we've never had before. For the market, you can also shop online for delivery/curbside delivery. Food-wise we tried the Vada Pao (fried potato patty in a bun), a Kids Cheese Dosa (served with coconut chutney and tomato chutney), a Mango Lassi, and their signature chicken wrap. Everything was so flavorful and fresh. Nice staff, vibrant atmosphere, plenty of parking in/around Vik's Chaat, and pro-tip: take a nice walk around the area post-meal. We will definitely come back to try more from the menu and maybe next time even come home with a few market items. That coconut chutney..yum!

We got the sev puri chaat and mixed veggies dosa to share. The chaat had a weird bitter taste and the brown chutney on top (which I assumed must be the mint chutney) was not good at all. Everything was soggy not one big crunchy like what you would expect in a chaat. The only thing good about the dosa was the crispy party. Coconut chutney did not taste coconuty at all. The veggies filling inside was not bad. I was surprised to see how packed it was. I do like the idea of the ordering counter and convenience of it but I will not be returning.
