After some drinks down the block, we stopped here for Happy Hour for some food and drinks. They have a large patio in front, which is where dined since we had a little fur baby with us. Everest is a Nepali / Indian restaurant and we were looking forward to the momos. Checking out the Happy Hour menu, we ordered a bunch of items. Chicken Momo, Pork Momo, Cheese Momo, Pani Puri, Pork Ribs, Cheese Naan and Dip, and Garlic Naan and Dip. The Momos came four to an order with a tomato-sesame chutney. The pork momos came in a unique shape and the chicken ones resembled potstickers. The chicken ones were much plumper and filled with juicy chicken. Never tried Pani Puri and these came four to an order with crispy shell filled with potatoes, chickpeas, spices on top of a glass with tangy water. You pour the water into the shell and pop it in your mouth. Fun and tasty. The naans were light and tasty and they came with a creamy dip. Pork ribs came two to an order. Friend said they were nothing special. Service was friendly and efficient. After placing our orders, food came out after a short wait. Will definitely come back if in the area. read more

On July 4, I wanted to eat some Indian food. A friend had mentioned this restaurant and a couple others to choose from. I decided to try this place because it had lunch Thali (specials) and chicken pumpkin which I thought was interesting. We went there early afternoon and got seated quickly. There's inside and outside seating. I decided on the chicken pumpkin thali, ordered pani puri and a mango lassi. My friend ordered the chicken tikka masala thali. The thali comes in a metal lunch style tray. In each section is something different. It comes with rice, salad, daal, naan, papad, avocado raita, potato cucumber achar, and your choice of the entrees listed. The pani puri came out fast. The dough shells were crispy and filled with a spiced mashed potato filling. The tangy flavor water helped cut through the filling. Just dont put too much of the water on it. The mango lassi was good, a little on the sweeter side. I got the chicken pumpkin medium spicy, which felt like a medium. Chicken pumpkin was velvety, had a decent amount of chicken pieces although a little dry. I could taste the pumpkin which had sweetness. I feel for the price of the lunch Thali ranging from $18-21 depending which entree is a good deal since you can try a few different dishes/sides. I ordered the Nimki Chaat because I'd seen it mentioned several times in reviews. It was a fun, tasty starter--too much for one person, but I'd definitely order it again with a group. For my entrée, I ordered the chicken tandoori tiki kebab. The chicken was high quality, flavorful, and didn't have that red dye you see in so much tandoori chicken. I ordered it medium spicy, but it wasn't really spicy at all. Still, it was very good. I'm more of a curry person, though, because I love having sauce to dip my naan in and enjoy with rice. The dish came with a small green salad, raita, and rice. I also ordered the garlic naan, which was really, really good--thin, crispy, and pillowy all at once. I couldn't taste a lot of garlic, but I never really can at any Indian restaurant. Before my meal arrived, I was served a cup of dal soup, which was quite nice. For small plates, I ordered samosas, pani puri, and veggie fritters. Loved it all especially the pani puri- crispy shells with chickpeas in them. Yumm! For entree we ordered chicken tikka masala with plain naan and white rice. My son won't eat the garlic naan which I would have preferred. The samosas were good except they were big so one was good for me. I didnt realize their size until it came to our table. One order was two large samosas. Oops. Tikka masala was good but I found it to be more stewy than thick, which is my preference. The servers and service here is lovely! They're so patient and friendly! This was my first time here and was seated right away for dinner on a weekday. There was a HAPPY HOUR FOOD menu and we took advantage of that and ordered the Momo's (dumplings) and the ribs, and both were delicious!! We got the butter chicken with rice and it was creamy and delicious !! The restaurant has plenty of open space and restrooms were pretty clean. The hard part was parking as street parking isn't so easy around here and there's no lot. Storefront parking could also be difficult during busy hours as it is a busy street. This restaurant is quite spacious once you enter. We received complimentary lentil soup! The steamed momos were alright. If you dip them in the sauce they really tasted better. The chicken chow mein was a bit different from Chinese style but I did thoroughly enjoy it......really full of color. The chicken tikka masala wasn't bad. They use chicken breast. I prefer thighs but perhaps the breast is more traditional. The pharsi chana is reminded me of a vegetarian curry but was pleasantly surprised by the taste. The garlic naan was good. Been to this place at least three times now and it's great! In a lovely neighborhood with decent parking, and convenient enough for my friend and I to always be able to meet up. Something I always like to start off with on their menu is their hot chai tea. It's hot and creamy with just the right amount of warm spices on a cold day in the winter. It also wakes me right up. Everything that we've ordered has been delicious, esp. the nimki chaat, dal, and spicy tofu. Their papad is also tasty and great for snacking if you're not too hungry. The service is always great, whether they are busy or not. Food always comes out promptly and they always check upon us to make sure everything is alright. While searching Yelp for a new restaurant to try out, my wife discovered Everest Kitchen on Solano. One of our other favorite Himalayan/Nepalese restaurants is also located on Solano, so we were eager to see if Everest would be comparable. Upon walking in, the establishment is quite modern, spacious, and has capacity for quite a few tables. The handful of times that we've been here however, we've yet to see it at max capacity. They also have a bar for additional seating options. One of our favorite things here so far is the Garlic Naan. Everest does an amazing job of making naan that is light, fluffy, and crispy. Do NOT make the mistake of coming to Everest and not ordering the garlic naan! On a flip note, we were not as big of a fan of the wheat naan. Other favorites include: Butter Chicken (Creamy Curry): A moist, delicious chicken thigh simmered in a creamy onion and tomato-based sauce. Served with a side of rice. Salon Tikka Masala (Creamy Curry) Service here is extremely friendly and very consistent. They'll always make sure to stop by your table to check on your meal and if they need to clear any plates. And they'll help you box up any leftovers you may have at the end as well. Parking is available for free at the street level. It gets pretty busy on Solano, so I recommend the side streets if you can't find parking directly on Solano itself. read more

We got the veg samosa to go. It was almost 9$ for two samosas. While the samosas looked fresh and homemade, they lacked flavor. The inside was mainly mashed. The sauces (mint and tamarind) also severely lacked flavor. Even salt would have been nice. For the mint it felt like I was just adding water to my samosa. The samosas are 2-3$ more expensive than nearby stores so I suggest you get them there. We got these to go but the store was very beautiful in the inside and the staff was kind. read more

Service was very friendly yet not in your face, I like that Started with Samosa Chaat which had a great mix of flavours and textures. For three people this was a great starter. We got garlic naans for our two curries and their flavour and texture was banging, perfect mix of form vs buckling under the curry sauces, regardless of your choice of hands or cutlery, a solid pick And that's not even the curries! The saag paneer was made with a wonderful thickness, and also was not overloaded with cheese so a great balance. The Goat curry was CRAZY. The only downside for me was that it was not as thick as I would have liked, closer to consistency of water. We got spicy level for both of these and I can take spice. We ordered an Nepal Old Fashioned and Farallon which was a gin drink. All the plates were absolutely delicious and my ultimate fav was the Pani Puri. A shell filled with spicy potatoes and chickpeas sits atop of a shot glass of spicy water. Pour the water into the shell, enjoy all the flavors and repeat. Our daughter wanted me to come here to Everest Kitchen Himalayan/Nepalese food for a long time. It was easy to get me in there with the opportunity to have yet another curry. The place was clean and well lighted, and we were greeted when we came in the door and cheerfully seated right away. There were three of us dining together. After going over the menu, we ordered our specialties, and we made sure that we tried the Lentil soup, Tofu Tika Masala, and Lamb Saag. We also had the Lamb Curry because it's something that we don't have that often in our normal diet. I ordered a beer which they forgot and later made sure that it didn't wind up on the bill and we also had the garlic naan and I gotta tell you right now, it was amazing it's so good. We were immediately guided into this restaurant and waited for a place to sit down. It was way past the busy lunch hours, so after the tables were clear we got a place to sit. What also attracted our attention were the lunch tray menu options, so we decided to get one of each with different curries; we also ordered a plate of chicken momos. Looking back, we must have been starving when ordering because eating a lunch tray of food and then eating 8 pieces of momo is a lot of food. Near the end of our meal, while we did finish everything ,we were above 100% full. The food trays came first and then the momos arrived halfway in our meal time. I love how the lunch tray had rice, naan, and the thin cracker piece. The tray comes with soup, the main curry, salad, yogurt, and pretty spicy cucumber salad. When we ordered the curries, we chose mild to medium spice. Here, the mild level is very mild, from a person with low spice tolerance, it is almost non-existent. However, the cucumber salad, that was spicy. It is spicier than the medium spiced curry. That was very good though; the texture was crispy and crunchy and the nice peppery flavor comes in between chews. The chicken from the curries were tender and juicy. I also believe the rice and curry ratio was balanced, so I didn't have leftover rice after scooping it with naan. Came here starving after 14 holes at Tilden. How did I know about this place? I was getting frozen yogurt the night before, and was lured by delicious smell while passing. Portion wise; rice should be slightly bigger in portion. It was my first time ordering second bowl of rice at an indian place due to less portion. Also it's just plain jasmine rice, without any added seeds or herbs. Not a huge fan of garlicky food, so had the plain naan which was a lovely combination with all things ordered. The dumplings chicken momo were also great. The inside had more of nepalese vibe than indian vibe. Although i appreciate cultural designs in many restaurants, sometimes i like less statues, idols, mustard-orange thick napkins like this place. If you're looking for nice vibe local india/nepalese food, i recommend this place. Service wise, not bad, but noticed only 1 bright-looking, hardworking girl that got the job done nicely of all 3+ staff that worked there at that time which made up what could have been a less attentive service. Everest kitchen is a hidden gem. I've tried many dishes on their menu, all with vibrant flavors and an element of simple perfection. The vegan options are plentiful and crave-worthy, appreciated by herbivores and omnivores alike. If you eat there for dinner they give you complimentary Daal Lentil Soup, which is one the best soups I've ever had. The Veggie Jhol Momos are my favorite thing on the menu. The staff are all lovely people and the service is quick. Not to mention, the restaurant is cute and cozy inside and when the weather is nice, I love having the option to sit outside.
