Our group went for dinner on Sunday. Not a popular time so we were seated right away. We tried the "dinner for two" which comes with Appetizers, Vegetable samosa, Vegetable pakora, chicken curry, vegetable curry, chicken tandoori, sheikh kebab, chicken tikka, basmati rice, Bread naan, Raita, mango chutney, Dessert kheer (rice pudding), Tea or coffee. You can choose your spice level, we chose medium. It was a great deal and enjoyable experience as the dishes came out and filled the table. My personal favorite was the vegetable curry (great flavor) and chicken tandoori. Good, attentive service. They even gave free dessert to others in our group (very kind!). Our meal came with it. Visiting a friend in Columbia SC so spouse and myself went to Delhi Palace for lunch buffet at noo .. Place only had about 8 other people dining there.. Sorry to say but it was a very disappointing dining experience.. The nan bread was dry, dense & tough... The tikka masala had dry chunks of chicken and so so flavor.. Most of the other offerings were non meat vegetable dishes with only a few having a nice Indian spice heat.. The rice dishes were pretty good and will say though the Tandori Chicken was the best thing on the buffet being very moist, tender and flavorable.. Not sure where all the positive reviews come from other than assuming individual ordered of menu dishes better or dinner time a better chef or experience.. For us it was one of the low bar Indian restaurants we have dined over our decades of loving that cuisine.. read more

Buffet has been consistently solid for actual decades for me. There is always something or 3 something's worth repeating every time I have ever been there. While other Indian restaurants may exist in the Columbia area, most of my experiences elsewhere have resulted in overly spicy dishes and not enough variety, let alone an actual buffet. Gotta love a buffet to put the choices in your mouth. I would recommend staggering from off peak hours for best selection, service; and results. Working through a sinus infection, figured it was time to have some local Indian food last night! I couldn't have made a better choice than Delhi Palace. Fresh, perfectly blended spiced and creamy Navratna Korma with an ample amount of rice to mix in and delish garlic naan bread made my day. Terrible food! I was very excited to try buffet after so many months since covid hit. But this was a BIG disappointment. Samosa were dripping oil - it was THAT BAD! Dessert was the worst I ever had any any restaurant. Their bottle gourd halwa (lauki halwa) had uncooked lauki. My husband puked it out the moment he tried. Dal was so bland it felt like they just served a boiled dal with no seasoning at all. Staff was friendly but slow. Take away - don't get tempted by the buffet fact! I was having a craving for Indian and my go-to spot was closed for most of the week so I was super excited to find this place was 1-open and 1-closer to me. I called in my order; she gave me a 20 minute turn around time and we were there in about 12 minutes. It was being bagged when we walked in! I love it! The aroma filled the car and I knew it was going to be delicious. I ordered the Saag Paneer , spicy, and wow! Just wow! We tried to save a little for lunch the next day but we failed. There was two chunks of cheese drowned in their creamy spicy sauce. I toasted up some naan I had in my freezer and went at it (yes with those two chunks). I'm not sure which I enjoyed more...the meal or the little bit we left! Ordering was easy and you could hear a smile over the phone. Walking in to pick it up you could see a smile in her eyes. I am a regular for the lunch buffet. The food quality is consistently good. The Chicken 65 is excellent. Just the right amount of heat. My other favorites are chicken tikka masala, eggplant masala and even okra masala and I'm not normally a fan of okra! Ordered chicken tikka masala while substituting onions out for paneer, mixed appetizer vegetarian platter, vegetable pakora and garlic naan. None were like what I'm used to ordering, but everything was packaged great and the food was "good". The tikka masala lacked any coconut cream/milk so it was very acidic. Not what I'm used to. Also, the paneer was cut into huge chunks that made it hard to decipher from the chicken. Not sure what they bread their vegetables with, but it's not what I'm used to and they were actually quite spicy. Couldn't eat them. The garlic naan lacked flavor but was a very good sized portion. Although I would never eat here again, it's only because it's not what I'm used to eating. If this was my introduction to Indian food I'd love it, but what I'm used to is very different. read more

So in all honesty, I was super scared to come in here and eat because I have never tried Indian cuisine before and I was pleasantly surprised. We were going to another place and they were closed, so we journeyed to Delhi Palace. Upon walking in, the aroma of this place was to die for! I mean, all of the smells of spices were doing a number to my taste buds. It made me want to hurry up, get seated and go get in line. I normally steer clear from buffets, but this one, I walked right on in. Now, to me, none of the food was recognizable by name or by ingredients, but I put a little rice on my plate, along with some fire red looking chicken, some goat, and chicken masala and I went back to my table. Fork to mouth, and I was elated at the happiness going on inside of me, lol! I will most definitely be returning here for lunch or dinner. read more

Some of the best Indian food I've ever had. They only have the buffet during lunch hours and it's $14 weekdays $16 weekends. We did the dinner for 2 for $38 and it was phenomenal and enough for 3 people. They gave you a choice of mild medium hot or extra spicy, we picked hot. It was perfect! This is one of my favorite Indian cuisine restaurants. We went on a Saturday for the dinner buffet and had a great experience. The buffet was ~$15 and there was a wide selection to choose. My favorites included tandoori chicken, chicken Tikka Masala, navratna korma, nan, kheer (rice pudding). The servers were great. Plates were cleared quickly. My cup of water was never empty. I have been eating at this place for years and the quality of the food has been declining more each year. I don't think it is because of COVID because the problems have been there for years before pandemic. The last time I had a curry-based dish, the chicken tasted like it had been frozen, defrosted, re-frozen, and cooked again. It tasted OLD, watery, and freezer burnt. This seems to be the "new normal" at Delhi Palace. I have wondered if Delhi Palace freezes the leftover buffet food and then reheat it when there is a takeaway order? Because, 9 of 10 times the takeaway I order does not taste fresh at all. Sometimes, the meat in the curries are so tough and inedible - I can't even chew it. My dog wouldn't even eat the tough chunks of chicken that was in the last Vindaloo I ordered. Why is that? Delhi Palace, if you continue to raise prices please offer better quality food. I literally never know what to expect when I order now - will my meal taste freezer burnt again? Will the sauce taste bland and watery (like it was frozen for many months) or Will it taste like someone dumped an entire bottle of cayenne in the sauce? read more

We just moved here from Southern California and this restaurant is AUTHENTIC! I had the lunch buffet and it had a great selection of entrees and everything was delicious! I went with 2 friends and they ordered off the menu and they loved it also. I highly recommend and can't wait to come back! read more

Popped in after a long day on the road and picked up some to go for the hotel. Ordered Chana Masala, extra hot with a side of bullet naan. The host was nice enough to offer water while I was waiting. When I got to the hotel (6 miles away), I had finally got a nice break from work to dig into the chow. Unfortunately, they had left out the naan. After looking at the receipt, I was definitely charged for it, it just wasn't given. I called and was told I could drive back to get it. The chana masala was actually pretty good and had plenty of spice. I will stop by tomorrow on the way back to hotel and see if they give me the Naan I paid for today. If so, I may change review. Until then, don't stiff the customer. read more

Indian buffets are pretty great huh? Especially during COVID. (I know its frowned upon to be out and all that but look some of us just HAD to for our own self care! Also, they manage the precautions exceptionally well.) moving on.. We like to go to this place over most in town, mind you this decision was pre-covid, because they have the best selection on the buffet line with authentic Tikka. There are a few other places close by but either the Tikka isn't authentic or the other has a very limited selection. Granted during Covid they are the only buffet we have found and the selection is smaller but, still good. Id recommend this place for the buffet or dine-in experience. read more
