This is a pretty funny sign!
Mikey H.

It was raining above and we found ourselves wandering around the underground city. When hunger set in, we found ourselves in front of the DP. The signage was funny and I thought, what the heck. The lone worker said we could sit anywhere. There were a couple of families and some other wayward people eating. It's also adjacent to the central train station, so I'm sure this place is a zoo on a busy day. We ordered a bottle of wine....I mean...why not? I also ordered the poutine to share. Not bad, but not authentic. Made with mozzarella, gravy, and some limp fries. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with a salad. Really huge portion of the salad, which was dressed well. The burgers that came out were good, but the same limp fries came out with. Granted, given the location, this is not a gourmet foodie kind of place, but a kitchy kind of diner. It's not a bad place to grab a meal. Some of the other items on the menu looked promising. But if you ever find yourself wandering down in the underground, this place is worth checking out.

Deli Man...provider of bad food!

Look...up in the sky...it's a bird...it's a plane...it's...it's... Deli Man!!! Who? Yeah exactly...Deli Man is the superhero that welcomes you to this mess of a fast food joint in Montreal's Deli Planet restaurant. Picture Applebees minus the bad food. Yes it is that bad! Now granted, the location I visited was directly below my hotel. In Montreal they have an Underground City, which comes in handy when the weather is bad outside. Oh and it was bad. On a -30 degree day in this beautiful city I went underground and came across this happy looking place. I was in the mood for bad food. By "bad", I mean "greasy, cheese filled and fun" food...not "wtf is this?" food. Anyways here is what I ordered: Appetizer: Nachos Macho. Yes that is what it is called. No I did not call it that to the waiter. I hate places that give their food items stupid names, I am not saying "fruity tooty fresh and fruity" at IHOP and I will not say "Moons over My Hammy" at Denny's! Just say pancaked or scrambled eggs dammit! Oh yeah back to my review...now while I love my nachos...but this big bowl of chips with melted cheese, salsa, sour cream and jalapeno was just a big bowl of yuck. It came out cold and the chips tasted stale. I told them that the chips were cold, they offered to "warm" them up. Really? Are you going to nuke this mess and bring back a Nachos Macho Soup? I said I was not happy with this and they just stood there with a blank stare. I said I would not pay for this and the guy just walked away. Ha!? Main Course: Ordered the BBQ chicken. Meh...not going to say it was the worse chicken ever...but it surely was not tasty. Maybe because they gave me a side of mashed potatoes and the genius in the back poured mounds and mounds of gravy all over my plate. I mean I love gravy, but this was ridiculous. Besides my gravy pool being everywhere, it was not even that good. I skipped dessert (shocked?)...and paid my bill, minus the nacho chips. Told the woman at the front counter on my way out that I was not happy with them and to look at my table (which was in view) and said that they were still there untouched. She agreed...I paid...and left this joint. Au Revoir.

I forget the name of this smoke meat sandwich but it was juicy ! Fries were swapped for the house salad.

A good friend and I decided to catch up after work for a bite ... amongst many delicious choices, we chose Deli-Planet. The food was good and fresh! The portions were generous. Service was okay- This restaurant's theme is on point! Cool names for their dishes which lives up to every bite.

The Veal Parmesean lunch special.....pretty tasty.

Great deli!! A bit off the grid in the train station but huge restaurant with delicious deli favorites like smoked meat, poutine, brochettes, club sandwiches etc. The food is always good with nice sized portions and moderately priced. If you want the best service you've ever had, ask for Soto.

Another good visit to Deville, this time for breakfast, and boy is it a breakfast. There's so many…read moreplaces you can go for breakfast in the area, but Deville is fun, with great music, a unique atmosphere, and fairly friendly staff. It's quite busy with the brunch crowd, but not like dinner hours. We had delicious drinks, clearly huge servings of great food, and a nice time just hanging out. We didn't feel rushed and got to just enjoy one another's company. It is tight seating admittedly, and not super comfy, but I'll take it for the yummy food. Will be back for breakfast.

Pooh, Marie and I had our New Year's Eve supper here last night…read more We started off with drinks. Pooh and I had their signature Margarita and Marie had their Long Island Iced Tea. Pooh and I loved our drinks but for the price there should have been more alcohol and less ice. Marie wasn't crazy about her drink. She thought it was more like a cherry juice drink We shared the Calamari platter which was piping hot and had a delicious dipping sauce which Marie kept for her fries. For our main meal I ordered their Fried Chicken Salad. Pooh ordered Apollo à la Brasa, and Marie had Lobster Roll with fries and salad. I liked my salad but since it was "fried chicken " I thought the chicken would be hot. It was just warm so the skin wasn't crispy; more loose like sagging skin. Pooh loved his dish but it was a tad salty and greasy. Marie loved everything. Each of us had a Brazilian coffee which was delicious. After we shared an order of their Beignets. These beignets were huge and came with two dipping sauces: caramel and whipped Nutella. They were heavenly Service was fast and friendly and the ambiance was lively - great music too We would definitely return. I will try a different dish.

Dining at Bar George was one of the highlights of our quick 24-hour layover in Montreal. We stayed…read moreat Le Mount Stephen Hotel without doing much research on dining options, assuming we'd just find something nearby. But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. I would absolutely love to come back!!

While the restaurant is highly celebrated and located within a Michelin-recognized hotel building, it does not hold a Michelin star of its own. But it is extremely classy. We decided to do lunch instead of dinner and it was a little more our speed, but if very, very attentive waitstaff is not your thing and $200 for lunch I'd skip this spot. We went because it had reviews for amazing beef Wellington and my husband hadn't had any in decades. And we were on vacation so let's go! The food was beautifully plated and service was impeccable inside of an amazingly decorated dining room that looked like a library in a mansion. The meals themselves weren't obscenely expensive but add a glass a wine, bread (it was not included) and coffee and it put us close to $200. But it was a great experience and I had never had beef Wellington - it was melt in your mouth good. Might go again next time we come up from CT.

He seated us in the booth and got our little children settled in with coloring material. He was so gentle spoken with our children, and for that matter, the entire staff was! Our family felt welcomed and not a bother. You would be surprised at how few places make us feel this way, even though our children are calm little beings. Ok, now... to the food! When I hear brisket, I think of Texas styled BBQ, this brisket is different, this is a deli style brisket, think Reuben Sandwiches. The brisket was sliced so thin and was juicy, it was delicious! Our kids had kids meals and in their opinion, the best part was the ice cream at the end . I highly recommend eating here! The staff is friendly, the food is great and overall, just a comfortable place to be! Tip the staff well, trust me, by the time the bill arrives you will already have experienced their top notch service.
