Very friendly staff to accommodate for my weak French and English only speaking wife! I came here to try one of the eggs Benny specials! I was meeting two good friends here on a Sunday. A day earlier I was told they don't take reservations which is OK. But this greeter woman at the door also told me coldly to stand aside because the full party had not arrived. She was unfriendly, unsympathetic, cold and her tone was like she didn't want to be there nor cared about even a little smile towards customers to make them feel welcome. I never had any brunch restaurant refuse a table to me when I was waiting to meet freinds. I felt as if I didn't matter to her as a customer. It was also crowded, so I was anxious to find a table. One of my friends spoke to the manager and told him these same things, and she too noticed how unfriendly the greeter was. I was insensed and we gladly went to another nicer brunch competitor. I have been here before at least 2-3 times. The decor is average, mostly walls and concrete. The food is good, but service is 50% of the experience in a restaurant! The management there obviously doesn't select their greeters with personal skills in mind! Never again, and the same goes for my friends! The breakfast menu is 8 pages, with lots of egg options (as per the name). Lots of options have meat, but only a few actually have smoked meat. Unless you order one of the healthier options, you will get tons of potatoes - spicy home fries - with your meal. My bacon avocado skillet came with about half a sliced avocado and 2, maybe 3 strips of bacon. It's a convenient location for getting on with the rest of our day after breakfast. read more

This was the first place I ate at while in Montreal, I would like to pat myself on the back for picking this choice and also my fellow yelpers for the convincing reviews that helped in the selection. Arrived during prime breakfast Saturday time and we were seated right away right by the kitchen. Our server, Martin was extremely friendly and thankfully spoke both French and English. Like I mentioned first time Montreal visitor right here. I ordered the Sriracha eggs benny and it was my favorite food during my whole weekend trip! In fact, I would say it is in the top 3 for breakfast dishes I have had! I liked the mild spice and hint of Sriracha but also enjoyed the crisp home fries. The person I was with ordered the three meat skillet and he seemed to enjoy it as well but he did mention it was a lot of food and he was full easily. Ordered breakfast from here online Uber Eats while in Montreal for a conference, and I have to say, I found this place to be quite average. It wasn't great, but it wasn't awful. For context, I ordered from here on two separate occasions. The first time, I ordered their avocado, bacon and spinach omelette with sausage on the side. The second time, I ordered their Big Ben breakfast with strawberries. While both meals were good, there really was nothing about them that would make me want to eat them again, taste wise. We came here during busy lunch hour and were seated quite fast although quickly ignored for a good 5 minutes. The menu was quite extensive and the price is simply lovely. You pick an entree and you get free bread, coffee/tea and juice all for less than $14. I got the two eggs scrambled with Canadian smoked meat with some wheat toast. I was so in love with the Canadian Smoked Meat! It is not the pastrami nor a corn beef. It is not bacon either. It is some thinly sliced, salty tender beef I have fallen victim to. We came here as a group on a Friday for a work lunch. We had made réservations and got the top floor which is a more intimate area, perfect for parties/groups. The location is great, we work right across the street so I can imagine it is a popular spot for breakfast or lunch - note that they close at 3pm. The restaurant itself is nothing special. As soon as I walked in, I thought it looked kind of dated. The tons of orange and brown aren't very appealing and the tables and overall layout is so simple. What I did find interesting was the menu though, there are lots of choices and although this may be similar to other breakfast chains, I found the pricing quite competitive at Ben & Florentine. I took one of the most expensive and filling breakfasts "ten on ten" which was only 14$. You'll get your classic eggs and sausages, or you can opt for the dedicated healthy menu- there are also wrap and panini options for lunchs and really tempting skillets that have a mix of just about every topping you can think of. Food and service was fine - everything was to my liking. Just find it a little strange that they serve apple sauce with most plates. It comes in a tiny cup, not sure if this is supposed to be a topping or a side... This is the kind of restaurant you come to out of convenience. Our company also happens to get a discount, otherwise not sure I would come back to this location. Hoping the other chains look a little more modern because the decor isn't inviting and for similar food, I'd rather go someplace nice. read more

My family and I were looking for a place for breakfast-this place was recommended by Hotel Bonaventure and guess what- THEY MEAN BUSINESS with BrEaKfAsT! They serve it all day! The order- I had ham and asparagus crepes=amazingly delicious! My Mami had the Avocado toast with a poached egg and LoVeD it! My Dad had oatmeal with fresh berries, cream and sugar. Our Waiter- Laurent was exceptionally attentive refilling our coffee cups several times as the restaurant was packed and it took a while to receive our order. Laurent liked to chat with us and recommended some places to go including the World's Largest BARBIE DOLL MUSEUM-more about that in a future review! This spot is a very cozy restaurant. Went early morning so I wouldn't be in a lineup. Got a table right away. Took more than 35mims for our server to come ask us for our drink order. Food was okay, I took the Bacon and Avocado skillet with scrambled eggs, it was pretty dry, seems like it was missing something, maybe sour cream or Hollandaise sauce, who knows. However, I was still able to enjoy the food. All in all, if it wasn't for the long wait, it could have gotten more stars from me. I was there today with my wife for brunch, we sat down and placed our orders then I read some reviews here. Most of the review complaint about the wait time being slow. I can definitely confirm that! We waited at least half an hour before our food was served. Food quality is a disaster (see pictures for example). They served us dry out orange (1 slice) and an awfully done strawberry (not sure if it's a strawberry, but it does looks like one). I ordered a smoked meat skillet; meat with potato and an on top... I tried to find the smoked meat... I really did but it all minced to tiny little pieces and the quality is also tiny. I'm not asking for 2 pounds of meat but at least good 4 or 5 pieces at a size that I can pick it up with a fork not a spoon! Charging $13+ for a plate like this is ridiculous! A very solid place for breakfast in Downtown Montreal I came here for breakfast during my trip to Montreal hungry for some eggs and whatnot, and it did not disappoint. Honestly, there is nothing really special about his place, it just has very good food for a good price. The atmosphere felt diner-esque, quite convenient, nothing special. The service was pretty good, very well done. I ordered the maple syrup skillet, which was great. The maple syrup worked very well with the home fries and bacon, especially with the egg. Being very hungry, I was quite happy with the skillet's portion. Also, the orange juice tasted very fresh. Overall this place is a great place for some quick breakfast or when you feel very hungry. This is currently my favourite spot for breakfast and brunch in all of Montréal. My go to dish is the 3 meat Skillet, it is an absolute must try! I also love their crêpes, but to complete both of these you really need to be hungry as it will keep you full for a while. Having had breakfast here at this location several times by myself and with my family, I would highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast. We have been to Montreal twice and stayed both times at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel. The restaurant is very close to the hotel, offers many options including sweet options with Nutella. The kids loved the Sweet Tooth and Avalanche! I have to admit, I like those too but also the Portuguese Omelette. This particular morning I had a taste for that omelette, fresh fruit, French toast and Nutella. This is not on the menu but my waitress still obliged my high level of maintenance and made my request appear just a few minutes after my order. This Ben & Florentine doesn't offer much more than other breakfast restaurants (e.g. Cora) in the great Montreal. In fact, nothing that they have on the menu is amazing, nor revolutionary. Preparing eggs does not require any kind of fancy degree, therefore everything that Ben & Florentine offers lives up to expectations. The main reason why I visit this restaurant so often? Its location is extremely accessible - Walking distance from McGill University and from several Metro stations. The reason why I am only giving out 3 stars to B&F is because of the inconsistency of their service. Sometimes, incredibly rapid and efficient. Some other times, slow and incredibly rude. Being in the customer service field myself, I do understand that rush hour can be a bit overwhelming and stressful to employees. However, it should not give those employees the right to be impolite towards customers. Sadly, some waiters at B&F have not yet realized that fact, which costs them 2 stars! Whoops! read more
