Good food at a fair price. Love the biscuits. Open early to grab and go on the way to work.

I was on my way back to Huntsville and looked for coffee shops along the way. There was a Starbucks…read moreand Alabaster. Naturally I'm going to select the local business and I'm so glad I did. It wasn't busy at all so I got to chit chat with the friendly barista. She helped talk me through a few drink options and I decided on a brown sugar latte. The drink was so good I had almost finished it off while waiting for my blueberry scone. Not that they took long, I just kept sipping! The scone came out hot and covered with icing. Highly recommended if you have a sweet tooth. It was a little too soft and ended up being very messy (grab a fork if you order one). The coffee shop itself had good vibes with a modern/minimalistic approach. Lots of seating if you have a big group or just need a place to work or read. I'll definitely be visiting again if I come back this way!

Kind of a classic hipster coffee place vibe. Coffee, tea, and chai available on the menu with non-dairy options for a small charge. I had a seasonal item, the vanilla chai, which was perfectly creamy and not too sweet with a touch of cinnamon and mulled spice. The grilled chicken Casear wrap was amazing - crisp lettuce and the perfect amount of dressing to keep the meat moist without a soggy tortilla. A little on the pricey side but very refreshing for a cute lunch date or catch up.

I was so excited to see that we would be passing by one of these on this trip. I always like to map…read moreout where we would be going no matter the timespan I am going to be in an area. I made sure this was a place to stop since it is a novelty to me as there are none in the area where I live. I told my Dad about it before we left and he was on board as he never had it before. As we neared Scottsboro I was getting hungrier with each mile ticked off. We had had a late breakfast and snacks in between but we hadn't had a meal, per se. Coming down the four lane and seeing the big W in the sky I knew it was time. Pulled in and right into a spot. Went inside and kind of already knew what I wanted and knew my Dad would get his old reliable, bacon cheeseburger. I got the Double Meat Whataburger Whatameal. Everything on it as described. Went with the fries as my side and waited for the food to be ready. We got our drinks and napkins, found a table and sat our table number on the top and waited for our food. They must have been training a new employee that day, or so it seemed. There weren't too many smiling faces there as the manager, maybe, was overseeing the employee with the name tag "Paco Taco" putting in our order. He also served us our food and wasn't very enthusiastic about it. Once we had our food and got our choice of ketchup, one regular and one spicy for me, we started to dig into the food. Thinking my Dad was going to have something positive to say about this experience since he never had it before, but I was disappointed by it. He wasn't impressed and probably would have preferred going to a chain he already knew. Me, on the other hand, really dug into my food...well the portions of it that weren't falling all over the place. It did not matter how I held this burger, how far up I kept the wrapper, I ended up dropping something off of it with each bite. Onions, lettuce, pieces of tomato all falling out and onto the floor. Not even attempting to hit the table, but just straight to the floor or down the front of my shirt. It's always fun attempting to get mustard out of your white shirt. As for the fries, I feel like they were appropriately cooked, but held in a warmer for far to long before being served. They started to have that soggy effect that you get if they sit too long after frying. Was it worth the wait since the last time I had Whataburger? Yes. Should I have lowered my expectations walking through the door? Also yes. I would like to chalk this up to them just opening, but it appears they have been open a few years.
