A bunch of us (20) were in the area and stopped to eat here. Some people had the cat fish, wings, pork bbq and hamburgers. Everyone raved about their meal. Not a single complaint. Service is quick and the lake was beautiful to look at while we ate. read more

3 stars for food / 5 stars for location/atmosphere, so a 4 overall. This little bbq joint is located in Jackson County Park right by a boat rental area. It has a little pier/dock that extends a bit into the lake with tables and chairs where you can dine with a view of the water. The view is beautiful -- the lake pushes up against gorgeous green mountains -- and perfect on a sunny day. The view and location alone make it a highly desirable spot to eat lunch. The inside of the restaurant is pretty typical of a southern bbq joint. Unpretentious, comfortable, a little kitschy in an endearing way. You walk right in and order at the counter. The staff was a little overwhelmed when we walked in and had some trouble keeping our large order straight, but they were friendly and considering how busy they were, it was understandable for sure. Plus, our order came out right, which is all that matters in the end. We had the smoked wings, pulled pork loaded fries, and a pork plate with fries, garlic toast, and macaroni and cheese. We tried the sweet bbq and the ranch as our dipping/drizzling sauces of choice. The food was okay to good, depending on the item. Weakest link was probably the macaroni and cheese, which had a very thin, anemic cheese sauce that didn't taste like much of anything. The crinkle cut fries were maybe a little underdone but salted perfectly. They went well with the ranch. The pork itself was pulled a little too finely for our tastes, making it a little mushy. It was also lacking a little bit of smoke flavor. However, we really liked the bbq sauce; it was a great balance of sweet and vinegary, and its addition helped make the pork better. The best thing was definitely the smoked wings. My only complaint is they were maybe a tiny bit dry, but they had excellent smoke flavor and a good texture -- not tough or anything. The garlic toast was also surprisingly delicious. Not soggy at all, crispy crust, and perfectly toasty. If you're looking for a fun road trip from Huntsville (like us) or if you just want to enjoy some beautiful weather by the water, KC's is definitely worth a try! read more

Scenic, serene little bbq joint that sits on the water. Just about 15 minutes from Unclaimed Baggage if you are in the area seeing that. First-get the brisket-no really the brisket is the best I've had across multiple states. It's got a good bark line, and is tender and juicy-no knife or fork required. Their classic bbq sauce is a perfect compliment. The potato salad and Mayo slaw were good too-solid sides. But the brisket-oh man. The wings were smoked evenly and we're just as good. You can't beat the price, the food is excellent, and the patio view on the waterfront during the fall season when the leaves are changing is just perfect. Delicious! All the way! read more

It's fair que, on the water so the ambiance is what really brings people here. I found all of their food to be overly salty or saucy, nothing in the middle. Food is excellent for lunch and dinner. Service is on target. Ambiance is casual. We have eaten lunch and dinner there numerous times and never been disappointed. We had the breakfast buffet and were not impressed. $$$ expensive and limited (no fruit, eggs were scrambled and didn't have much flavor). The view on the back patio is amazing. It was breezy and beautiful on the lake today. Food was good. Will return if we're ever in the area again. Driving through the campsite made me really want to stay there at some point. Pros: the fries were nice and crunchy. The hash brown casserole was really good and reminded me of Cracker Barrel's. Chicken was cooked good and was easy to get off of the bone. Cons: No vegetarian options. Small portion on the hash-brown casserole and no eco friendly dish ware. Beautiful location but mediocre BBQ. Beer selection is all cans. My husband's bbq ribs were very overdone and the bone was disintegrating. My fish sandwich was okay, nice and hot with a little bit of coleslaw, they offered tartar sauce and I should have said yes. The baked/bbq beans were good and the green beans were bland. I'd make sure you get a fresh batch of ribs or maybe ask for a recommendation from the staff. The sides looked good online, would have gotten a few more in retrospect. read more

Brisket was delicious, soft and tender with a nice smoke ring but not too much smoke. Portion size was 3 large pieces. Will be back for the meats. Spicy bbq sauce complimented the meat perfectly. Sides: Vinegar coleslaw is best on sandwiches, not good for a side. Mayo coleslaw was great, not too much mayo just needed a bit of salt. Green beans were very tasty with bacon and onions, must try. I didn't take a picture bc I got it to go and nothing was presented for photographing. The bbq sandwich was good. They chop the pork up and top it with slaw, so it stays nice and moist and the bun is nicely toasted, so the whole taste and texture profile is nice. The smoked wings were very good, and I can see why they are the featured item along with the bbq pork. The rack of ribs was ok, but they are a little overcooked to the point of falling off the bone. They lacked seasoning as well, so I wouldn't recommend them for rib connoisseurs. The location is very pretty, right by the water, and the restaurant itself is a decent size, and the staff are all very friendly. read more

Rude service. Tiny portions. Three starving chicken fingers on chicken finger plate. Asked for extra ranch and double portion of fries for two plates. Didn't give fries on one order. Double portions looked like happy meal for little kids. We asked for ranch and they charged extra even though we asked for extra in the order. Potato was mush. Guy responded when I asked why they charged extra and only gave us a thimble full of ranch in the order. " we have to make that ranch dressing ". Really. We were dining in. Never will go back , don't recommend. Attitudes by staff and there's better places to go. Expensive ranch. I could have bought a bottle of ranch dressing for what they charged for it and food portions. Order was wrong. Pitiful customer service. Don't go. Never will recommend. Smokey fried wings!! I had never heard of wings that were smoked then fried to create that crisp crunch. So good and hands down the best wings I've ever had!! Been back many times and also love their pork potato, smoked chicken, potato salad and baked beans. I'm from Decatur with the famous Big Bob Gibsons - and KC BBQ is better! A close tie to the food is the location! Right on Lake Guntersville with a large patio with a perfect view. You can even drive and dock your boat which we often do. Wish they were open later on Sundays; I believe they close at 3:00. I appreciate Yelp for first pointing me to this place! read more

We came here on a Friday night after viewing the bats at Sauta Cave. We'd already eaten dinner, so review is based on the prime location, pies, and few sides. The peanut butter chocolate chip was delicious. Lots of outdoor seating on the lake and friendly staff. The live music was a bonus. We'll head back to try the bbq! Do not recommend this establishment at all. Food is subpar. Atmosphere is boring, chaotic, overall miserable. The manager and owner, from what I've witnessed and heard, could care less about their employees. Working a 12-14 hour shift and not being able to take a lunch without getting b****ed at, sometimes only 30 minutes or not even getting one at all while working the 12-14 hour shift... Obviously with 2 whole crews quitting within the last 6 months should tell you something right there about this business. I witnessed thru the front view area as old man, the manager I assume, drop a wing on the floor and throw it back into the fresh wings they were making.
