I'm very disappointed in the bean, cheese & jalapeño Tamales! Didn't taste the jalapeño & they put just a drop of cheese. Manager said they put very mild jalapeños. Delia has become everyone's favorite grandma and she doesn't even yell at you!! They are truly the best in the RGV and thereby probably the whole darn state of Texas! I have no idea of the inside of this location as I only use their drive-thru. I do know that you need to try these tamales whether you are hungry or not! Seriously. Stop there now! The exterior doesn't look like a taquería, but the interior definitely fits the bill. I don't actually like tamales, but Delia's has been able to persuade me with their great selection, especially the chicken and cream cheese, because the texture of the tamales is not gritty since they seem to fry them in oil. I absolutely love their tamales! The service is typical of a Taqueria, with mostly Spanish-speaking employees. I purchased tamales from here and they were soggy and not ready to eat, when I called this location the manager told me its because the tamales were fresh and need time to rest and then they'll have the right consistency. He basically said I should wait 15-20 minutes to eat them. When you buy food it should be ready and able to eat it! I shouldn't have to let my food rest and get cold before I eat it. Delia's shouldn't sell the tamales if they haven't let them rest and they're not up to par. The tamales were falling apart and super greasy, somebody is slacking on quality control. Delia's has always been my favorite go-too for tamales, but recently after COVID the quality of the chicken and cheese tamales has gone down. There is a significant decrease in the use of cheese - which was the creamiest part in the past - and the tamales almost taste like they were frozen and reheated that day. They have these scorching hot tamales on hand and give them to you wrapped in foil. I ordered 1/2 a dozen of spicy pork, and 1/2 a dozen of chicken and cheese tamales with both green and red salsa. The green sauce is so freakin' spicy - I was chugging water while taking small bites. Despite my mouth burning and face sweating - it was so good and so worth it!
