The photos online from flavor balance espresso bar convinced me to seek them out. After having a great beverage from a different small business the day prior I was excited to try here June 30th. Menus at these small shoppes offer a refreshing change from the standard places. Matchas, mistos and a "rich and decadent coffee dring with a chocolatey twist" all sounded tasty! I ordered the mocha from the kind barista. Tables and some of the regular customers filled the seats. Sadly the flavor was missing in my cup. Bland espresso and flat flavor from the chocolate was a fail for me. I wanted the "rich and decadent" to tickle my taste buds but sorrowfully they were MIA. I was left disappointed after paying for parking and $8.15 for this beverage. No offence to the cafe or the owner, this drink just wasn't for me.

Old style armchairs and chairs, but new style tables. Staff were friendly. No complaints. Coffee was pretty decent. I also tried their chocolate bun. Looked like a long thin swirly pile of, um, poop. It was tasty though. I liked that it wasn't ridiculously sweet. Went well with the coffee. The place is nice and quiet, and is great for chatting. I'd come back at some point.

Presentation was very nice. When I sipped, the hot chocolate texture was very very creamy and l liked it. Then, Umami(soy sauce) flavor came through and became sweet and savory flavor. However, as they mentioned, " subtle" , umami flavor faded, later on, it became a sweet hot chocolate. Soy garlic biscotti was a bit chewy and It had a strong soy sauce flavor. It is better to have it with hot chocolate and I liked the combination. I wish a hot chocolate Umami flavor lasted longer. Overall, still this place hot chocolate tasted very good.

This time, I ordered Matcha strawberry latte. Their Matcha flavor was very strong, texture was creamy and strawberry puree was just perfect level of sweetness. Service was very friendly and excellent even though their vendor was very busy at festival. I will visit their cafe again and will try their cakes and drink.

The music is not too loud, which make a huge different when trying to focus on work and there is lots of seating - not to mention the seating here is very comfortable. The interior was eclectic and the outdoor style chairs that were used for inside seating were a bit uncomfortable but it all contributed to this intimate, non chain, independent cafe.
