    Power Bar, Almond Milk Latte

A quiet and spacious corner café on Willow and West 16th, serving a variety of homestyle baked goods, tea and coffee. This is definitely a solid café to visit if you're in need of a quiet space to read, work or study for a couple of hours. The prices are very reasonable with pasties/sandwiches ranging from around $1.75 to $7 and coffee/tea/smoothies starting as low as $2.75. The owner is super friendly and hardworking as he tends to manage the day to day operations on his own. It's quite a standard café with decent bold espresso and a good variety on their menu. The Power Bar was also just okay. Nothing too unique or different about it.

I never been to Willow Café until my friend told me that they changed the owner in Fall and the bakery and pastries are pretty good. Sure! Just go and check it out. When I went there on Friday late afternoon, they have no customer there. I guessed the owner (Chinese man) checking around and briefing the staffs. The staff was friendly and told us the bakery made daily freshly. We got a brewed coffee and chocolate mousse cake to go. I found the coffee was a bit old and chocolate mousse cake too sweet and barely taste chocolate flavour. Hope they can survive for long.

Nice seating area and best banana bread I have ever had until I bit into a giant eggshell which really made me want to hurl. Friendly staff and nice place but they close really early like 4;30. They didn't have any nice mousse cakes in the photos that I really wanted to try.

Amazing baking done in house by the owner. Very friendly, priced reasonably and outdoor seating available. Street parking.

Thought the shop was cute and I find it a bit pretentious of her to tell a shop that it is hindering the beauty of the neighbourhood - get over yourself.

They were showing each other the flavors, and shapes, and designs. Sweet plus savory. Cutting them in half and sharing. It was the least we could do to bring these high quality goodies, made by high quality bakers, to these high quality nurses in the cardiac unit for my mother-in-law. We were so impressed with the staff at L'atelier. They know their stuff and their recommendations are top notch. The bakery itself is so cute and modern and fun. I loved that you could sit outside even in the rain because they have stellar permanent awnings.

Unfortunately, this one was a bit disappointing. The interior was overly moist, the caramelized crust lacked the crispness I was hoping for, and the honeycomb structure wasn't very well developed. Overall, it was just average. We also ordered the Strawberry Pistachio Tart. The strawberries were fresh with a nice balance of sweetness, and there was a good amount of pistachio chunks. However, it lacked the layers of flavor that make a tart memorable. On the bright side, the coffee was excellent and easily my favorite part of the visit. I'd happily come back for a coffee, but I'd probably try different pastries next time.

It was a huge hit with everyone! The 6 inch cake was $69 and I added a customized birthday message on chocolate for an extra $3 which was a nice personal touch. They also offer a gluten free option for an additional $10 which is great for accommodating different dietary needs. One thing to keep in mind is that you'll want to order online well in advance because their cakes sell out quickly. I can definitely see why. They're fantastic! I'll be ordering from Gary's Patisserie again for future celebrations.

Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. When we went, they had a BOGO deal with the mango cake jars. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.

As I love desserts, I was so excited to see Chinatown and visit this place for the first time. This place was located in an area that would be best to walk with a friend or a small group- I was not quite prepared to see and experience what was going on all around. Finally, we made it there and were glad to order some doughnuts. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by the sweet smell of doughnuts and the two friendly staff. Everything looked so good, so narrowing down our pick was very hard! At the end, we ordered two flavours- Matcha and Tiramisu. The matcha doughnut was soft and the filling was light yet full of matcha flavour that one would expect, I loved every bite! My friend had the tiramisu doughnut and she said that she enjoyed the fluffy texture of the dough and the creamy filling- it felt like eating tiramisu in a doughnut form.
