    Buns

I had the red bean butter, sweet potato goguma bread, cream milk bun, mugwort mochi bun, walnut mocha bread. My advise is go early as they may run out of a specific type of bread. My least favourite was the mugwort mochi bun. My favourite one was the red bean butter and the walnut mocha bread. I find the bread here more unique. It's something you would only find in Korea from the ingredients. I also like that their breads and fillings aren't too sweet. The lady who helped out front was also very helpful when choosing the buns. Tip: try the red bean butter bread and the walnut mocha bread. Remember to choose 6 so that there's no tax!

Ahh...I now see why this place has been so popular and have people lining up for their pastries bright and early as soon as they open! Maison Mori is a little hidden Korean based bakery that is tucked inside the complex by Hannam Supermarket and Midam. A lot of their pastries are very unique with a Korean twist, such as incorporating mugwort, mochi, walnut and chestnut! We ordered the Real Cacao Roll + Moka Mochi Bun + Onion Sausage Bún + Sausage Puff Pastry. The pastries were so good we finished more than half of this within a day between two and it left us wanting more! My favourite wax the Moka Mochi Bún! There was mochi inside the bun that had the perfect consistency of chewiness and the bun itself has a really light chewy texture to it with sugar coated walnuts on top! Will for sure make a return here to try out all the other varieties we missed!

Hidden inside an unassuming part of Koreatown in North Road, I would recommend trying to coordinate coming in around their bread schedule depending on what you want. We got a sausage puff pastry, milk bun, mocha mochi bun, and the matcha roll. In particular I was a big fan of the sausage puff pastry (only available on weekends) and the milk bun. If you do not eat it on the day you buy them, you can heat the various items in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds and they're as good as fresh! Would highly recommend making a special trip to The North Road area to get their baked goods!!

Maison Mori is hidden inside an unassuming food court on North Road. Located next to Midam, this cute little bakery is all the way in the back of an empty mall. The little bakery is decorated with lots of dark wood paneling and a glass case displays all of their delicious baked goods for sale. They also have a bread schedule, so you know exactly when to get your favourite bread. All their baked goods are so aesthetically pleasing and you can tell much care goes into making these delicious baked treats. On this visit I tried their Sweet Potato Cube and Soboro Chestnut Cube. The Sweet Potato Cube has a lovely caramel crust which gave way to a soft and fluffy interior with generous chunks of sweet potato embedded inside. It wasn't too sweet and it was the perfect texture. The Soboro Chestnut Cube has a crunchy streusel topping that was a great textural contrast to the soft bread. Like the Sweet Potato Cube, this bread was also stuffed with generous chunks of chestnuts. Overall, I really enjoyed the breads that I tried at Maison Mori. The level of baked goods produced here is comparable to the top bakeries in Vancouver. I cannot wait to be back!

Another must try bakery I recommend. Hidden in K-town is this Korean-Japanese fusion shop. These treats surely have both style and substance. Pre-ordering highly recommended as they sell out quickly.

Cute little korean bakery in the foodcourt of K-town. I have save this bakery to my to-go list for so long and finally got to try it. Love everything we have got today, but why it's not 5 stars? The prices are a bit on the higher side. If it could be a bit cheaper then it's definitely a 5 stars. Most of the breads and cake slices are about $4 to $6. The size of the bread not big, its about you palm size. But I think they're quite special and tasty, so still worth a try.

HIDDEN KOREAN BAKERY ALERT. Tucked away and hidden away in a small corner is this cute Korean bakery, that specializes in super unique Korean baked goodies. * Milk cream bun ($3.20) ~ I didn't even get a chance to photograph this before I devoured it. this was outstanding! I love their custard cream! It was smooth, soft and not too sweet. The bun was the best part! I'd go just for this haha. * Sweet potato cube ($4.20) ~ the cube cut like butter! Ultra soft and chewy. The sweet potato adds a nice chewy texture to it and a nice subtle sweetness. Overall not too strong of sweet potato but perfect taste as it's real sweet potato. * Butter pretzel ($4.50) ~ thick butter with a nice salty pretzel bun! It was nice and savoury. The bun was super soft too. Personally I wish the bun was more crisp rather than soft as it was with a thick slab of butter. Not my favourite one of the three. * 7/10 ~ the buns are fresh and soft I love the milk cream one! The other ones are decent but not one id drive just to go there for. * 6/10 ~ the menu varies between prices. It's not cheap, but decent portion. total bill before tip: $12.50.

Went there multiple times. Very popular new place. If you don't go there early you many miss their bread as it tends to sold out fast. The owner studied bakery in one of famous bakery school in the world and taste theirs and you know their stuff is good. Many Chewy or soft bread options. There is food court like sitting area that is shared with the restaurant right next to it so you can grap coffee from the place as well and sitdown with your friends for chatting.

Over the past year and a bit this has become one of our favourite breakfast places. But it is more…read morethan just a place for breakfast or brunch. It is also a fantastic spot to work if you wanna have a café setting because their pastries and bake goods are absolutely fantastic. In fact last year for Christmas, we bought one of their Christmas cake options which proved to be super popular with the family. What I love about this location is the decor. On one side it is a simple industrial warehouse. But it has that post modern feel with all of the live plants. The live plants is what I love and the tall ceiling for the plants to fully grow. Though if they are looking for something else, which could really bring this to the top, it would be to have a fish tank. A fish and or water feature around the massive plant island in the middle of the dinning area would be chefs kiss. Of course, what about the food? From here, I find the food here is excellent. Sometimes the flavour combinations are a little weird. But that's typical for the Vancouver foodie scene. Vancouver food scene is a fusion hybrid of local ingredients mixed with traditions from cultures from other places around the world. But the bottom line is the portions are a good size. The platters in particular are large and would feed a very hungry person. You definitely get your moneys worth. You don't get much table service once you are done with your order. But that is all right because of it size and volume for the amount of people who come through. I am totally happy with the self serve station, which could be enhanced and the large setting with all of the very mature plants. If I would offer advice to anyone it would be this. If you are going to be there on the weekend arrive before 9 AM. People start lining up at 10 to 15 minutes before the store officially opens. Plus I find is easier to take the street parking rather than playing with Faith trying to back out with customers who are not paying attention.

I did get a spoonful of the glorious whipped cream on top of my daughter's mango croissant. $8.50 Heaven. We thought it was worth every penny! The only gluten free item they offered on this day was a chocolate walnut brownie. Rich and pretty satisfying! We didn't mind a bit waiting for our specialty lattes but the flavors were underwhelming. Snow Velvet Latte $6.20 Double shot espresso, regular milk, vanilla syrup, velvet cream, cocoa dusting. My iced 16 ozs dark chocolate mocha was also not a memorable one. In spite of the unsatisfying lattes and lack of GF items, I'm still fond of the energy that fills in this cafe so I'll probably return.

The menu has shrunk considerably and their business days/hours are also a lot less than what it was previously. The drinks were not as tasty as they used to be. My Blue Rose drink was the best of the bunch and I would say even that was just OK. I enjoyed the Lychee jelly in my drink. That was probably the best part of the drink. The liquid part was kinda "meh" for me. I think the best thing we ordered was the matcha soft serve ice cream. On the flip side, there was a guy playing piano there and they were taking requests. I suggested Demon Slayer and the guy played the famous "Gurenge" song by Lisa from season one of Demon Slayer. That was kinda cool. He was a very good pianist. Great way to liven the atmosphere. Also, there was a guy who came around and gave us all tiny paper cranes. It's nothing much, but still always nice to be gifted with anything at all. Business must be hard for them. It would sure be nice to see them return to how they used to be, with a bigger menu, tastier drinks and more days/hours again. We love this place for the manga/ anime vibes that it exudes, and love the Matcha soft serve ice cream they sell here. Really wanna give this place a higher rating but the drinks were really not up to par this time, and as much as we love the Matcha ice cream, it is not by itself enough to warrant giving out a higher rating. If they could just improve the quality of their drinks again...then even if they menu remains limited, at least if everything they serve is of good quality...that would be enough to merit a higher rating.

My cousin recently had Cory from HEY! CAKE THIS! Make a cake for her and below is what she said:…read more YEY!!! I found my forever cake designer and maker for all my family celebrations! I wasn't going to write any reviews because I just don't want to spend time doing it. But when I showed pictures of the cake Cory created for my daughter to my family and friends, I knew I had to write one. I was also reminded by my cousin and sisters about that rip off cake I received last year for my son. The cake we all called the Photocopy cake ( see review for Yummy Yonnie Cakes) But first, let me tell you about CORY'S cakes from HEY CAKE THIS! Cory does not limit the style, colour, theme, flavour, filling or size of the cake. He gives his clients free range. But keep in mind, price will obviously go up the more elaborate your imagination. If you can imagine it. He will create it! I reached out to Cory to get an idea of how much a Poppy cake would be and I even sent a picture I found online to him for reference. I told him to put many flowers and make the cake pink. I wanted strawberry filling, with fresh strawberries and a vanilla cake. Boy did he deliver! The cake I received exceeded my expectations. Everything on that cake was fondant. He cut out all the flowers, the letterings, the number, AND the star of the cake.... POPPY! He made a 2D Poppy! Nothing on that cake was a photocopy image stuck onto sugar paper. Look carefully at Poppy. Her dress, the eyes and mouth. So much details. Cory handprinted some of the details on her too. I commented on his Poppy and how I appreciated him not doing a photocopy image. He told me if the image is not complex he will do all it all freehand. I only gave I'm a week and a half for this cake too! Due to the pandemic, Cory offered free delivery. He wanted to make sure his cake was in the best condition for his clients. Cory is also very considerate. When he arrived, he actually took out a fold up table to place his cake on. He did not want to put the cake on the floor or ground where it could pick up germs. After he put it on the table, he stepped back (social distancing) so that I could take it. The box the cake came in was GOLD with a pink ribbon to complete the look. Did you know he actually MAKES all his boxes the cakes go into? No cheap see through cellophane. But a nice gold colour cardstock box. This is better because if the cake was to be a surprise , the box will definitely keep the cake hidden. My kids recycled the box and make gold cut out starts and crowns for their dolls. Cory is definitely a master cake creator. He will not disappoint. The communication between him and I for the cake was awesome. Before he went ahead with anything he was unsure of, he reached out to me. He wanted to make sure his suggestions was something I would also like. Vancouver is fortunate to have their own 'Duff Goldman'. I regret not having found him sooner to make my cakes. The Photocopy cake was an expensive lesson. Don't go to a place that limits you or brush your feedback off. GO TO CORY from HEY CAKE THIS! You won't be disappointed! I look forward to my two other cakes in the next few weeks! I will post it here as well for everyone to see. His work speaks for itself. All his reviews are excellent. Nothing less than 5 stars. I wish I can give him 10 stars! Cory's custom cakes ARE worth the splurge 1-2 or even 3 times a year! Thank you Cory!
