This has easily become one of my favorite food trucks in town. First of all, we all know that…read moredingy hole-in-the walls consistently provide some of the best food out there. Why would it be any different for food trucks? Don't let this run-down looking RV sway you. The food is top notch and the husband/wife team that run it do it very well. She's from Jamaica and she knows how to cook. He's not and he runs the cash register. The first half a dozen times that I ate at Jamamerican Jerk, I couldn't stray from the Curried Chicken. I love everything about this meal. First of all, the Styrofoam to-go box that it is served in weighs like a bajillion pounds and still only costs $8.50. I don't know of anywhere else that you can get so much food for so little. The meal consists of a hefty chicken thigh and leg, white rice, coleslaw, and corn on the cob. The chicken is so moist and tender that it just falls off of the bone. The corn is cooked ahead of time so it can be a little chewy, but it's still spicy and delicious. I'm not a huge coleslaw fan, but I eat it and I don't dislike it. I strayed last night from my beloved curried chicken, and while it was good, I had regret. I ordered the jerk pork. It was also reasonably priced and was served with beans and rice. I devoured the beans and rice. Needless to say, that will be added to my ordering repertoire. The pork was plentiful and stayed consistent with the large portions that I expected. It was juicy and tasted fantastic. Here's my beef...or pork...or beef with the pork: I don't mind having to trim meat, but when it's served with plastic silverware and in styrofoam, I'd prefer to keep that to a minimum. Not in a snobby way, it's just a pain that I'd rather not deal with. I've tried the potato salad and it's good. It's weird because it's served warm and looks more like lumpy mashed potatoes, but it tastes traditional. The jerk chicken taco boats are tasty, but seem to be the least bang for your buck on the menu.

I really like their curry chicken. It's marinated in rich flavors with a thick soupy broth. yum! If you always get the jerk chicken just try something different instead and get the curry. You'll love it. Oh, and get a festival too. Best described as a cornmeal vanilla donut..I could have eaten hundreds of these little guys. oh it's good!

There is also a gravel and grass lot in the rear of building down the side street. You would need to walk about a half block if you park there. There is a sidewalk, but the walk is up a slight hill, so be aware. I did not notice any specific handicapped spaces. The entrance opens into the main seating area, with a stage on the left. The menu is on a white board near the entrance. The ordering counter is in the rear. Seating is all tables with a few seats at the counter. Everything looked bright and clean, even if it was not all new. We placed our order and went to find a seat. The food was brought to our table in about 10 minutes. The Jerk chicken plate was very good. There was some spicy heat throughout the dish but not enough to be distracting. The flavor was very good. The side of cabbage was a very good accompaniment to the chicken. The rice was fine but nothing special. The plantain was cooked properly, but it would have been nice to have more than one small piece. The beef and curry chicken hand patties were quite good. Both had nice flavor and were more filling than expected. The selection of fillings does change, and they also run out of certain fillings so the availability does change. The food here is very good and the variety can keep you occupied for several trips. Or, you can just re-order your favorite every time and still walk away more than satisfied.

Having a place in Kingsport that has a taste of the islands is a real luxury! When you come into the restaurant they have a great "island vibe" with music and tasteful decorations. You truly feel like you stepped into a little cafe off the street in a Caribbean island. For the time we were there I felt like I was vacationing in the islands. The interior was clean and well maintained. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. The two ladies were kind, friendly, and accommodating. I was excited to get authentic Ox Tail and my wife got Curry Goat. The flavors of the Oxtail were wonderful; this isn't very spicy, it is bursting with levels of spice and flavor. The Curry Goat was the surprise; it was so good. One of their sides is cabbage and my wife and I ate all of our cabbage. I drug my rice and peas into the juices and couldn't stop eating. We also had a side of fried chicken, which was delicious. We got a butter rum cake, but was just too full to eat it then. That and a piece of chicken will be a snack!
