The store is very nice and has a nice selection. However, be careful when you buy pets from here. We got our dachshund from here many years ago and they lied about a lot of things. First off, we was told she was a mini long-haired dachshund.. which if you seen my sweet girl, she definitely is not mini by any means. We also asked if she would shed a lot and they told us no. Turns out that she sheds quite a lot. I wish that they would be more honest about their animals. They will say what they want you to hear. We love our dog so much and wouldn't trade her for anything in the world, but it would of been better if they had been honest about her. We also bought an allergy spray from here and got home only to see that it was expired. Just be careful if you shop here. :) read more

I recently moved to Bloomington and I had to find a new groomer for Matza. My neighbor suggested Delilah's. They were very friendly when I called. I had called 2 other services ( one never returned my call and the other left me on hold for 15 mins). When I took my doggie in everyone was friendly, Matza, who can be skittish, seemed comfortable quickly. The cut was fine. Matza had some matting in his fur coat, I don't see any nicks. We love Delilah's! We've taken our super spoiled llhasa poo and goldendoodle there the last 3 or 4 times to get groomed. When we pick them up, they look better than we could have imagined. Had my shihtzu groomed there...she was so terrified when I came to pick her up she was screaming and trying to run away. Nothing I did could comfort her. She was clearly abused during her stay because she has NEVER behaved like that with any groomer or even any person. I was going to go back into the store and tear them a new ass but my priority was to calm my dog...which literally took a few hours. Thought I should share my experience. My fiancé and I have always enjoyed stopping at Delilah's over the years any time we are in Bloomington. It's basically become a thing that we must stop there every time! Over the last year, they moved to a new location and have more space and more room/play pens to mingle with puppies. We absolutely love their resident Persian shop cats which are super friendly and purr up a storm when you give them head scratches. One or more times they've had kittens over the years and they're so charming. We love to keep a look out for a new puppy when we're there. They usually have a good variety of pups and they are kept in large open top pens rather than crates, cages or behind glass like a some pet stores which is really great and seems much nicer for the dogs. If you're looking for a bird, fish or reptile, this isn't your place though. They also have a huge variety of food, treats, toys, etc. They only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because we have not actually purchased a pet there or had our pets have some service with them, so I can't vouch for that process or experience. read more

They had it fitted and customized in a couple hours. SO FRIENDLY! Got a crocodile bone treat for being such a good boy too which is a hit, their selection is HUGE! Highly recommend!! I have a 5lb Yorkie and a 25lb Corgi Mix and they groomed them to perfection! I had them shaved very short (which I requested). There were no shots missed, no shave marks, their nails were trimmed well, and they smelled great afterwards. Also, the people were super friendly and my dogs returned to me in a very happy mood :) The price was also fair. It was only $85 before a tip, which is more than 20 dollars less than the average petco or petsmart price. I brought them in at 9am and was able to return at 2pm, however, they told me that I didn't have to come until closing at 6pm if I had things going on during the day until that time. p.s. They put adorable purple scarfs on my dogs after their grooming! It was a nice touch! read more

My daughter's bought a dog for us from Delilah's in December as a Christmas gift. The dog was supposed to be a Chug. She turned out to be a mutt with at least 16 breeds. She must have been abused at the Pet store because her fear of EVERYTHING was tremendous. She is a smart dog and we have been able to see her through a lot of her fear (the broom must have been used a few times), but she is still very aggressive with strangers and occasionally with us. Training is helping. But seriously, my daughters paid an obnoxious amount of money to these people for a dog that turned out to be something other than what it was sold for and must have had an incredibly hard early life. Thankfully these people will not be able to support the puppy mills by selling dogs in their stores for much longer. A not good rating is way too high. read more

I had recently bought two "female" kittens from Delilah's. One was a ginger tabby in which they sold to me as a female and is marked on the paper work as a female. I know good and well that they knew that cat was not a female ...if they didn't they have no business selling cats. After a quick vet check the cat is in fact not a female so now I'm rushing to get them fixed. I also noticed the paper work didn't tell me how old they were or hardly any info. What kind of pet store does that ? I'm very not impressed and I do not recommend getting your pets here. read more

Absolutely do not take your dog here to get nails trimmed, especially if you have a medium or large dog. I've given them THREE separate tries to change my mind and every single time it's the same. They aren't able to hold my dog and they get stressed out, which causes my dog to panic even more, they call me into the room to ask me to hold my dog, they use pinchers instead of sanding, they've made him bleed every time, and always miss nails. Absolutely ridiculous that I'm paying someone money to have to hold my dog down ON MY OWN and have my dog stressed and hurt. The staff is kind and elderly but they shouldn't be offering nail trimmings if this isn't something they can handle! Super frustrating read more

I'm shocked by all the bad reviews here. They're owned and managed by some really lovely people who actually care about the animals there. They make sure they visit the homes of the animals to make sure it's not a puppy mill/from an unsafe environment with antibiotics etc. They encourage people to come in and play with the dogs to make them more comfortable with other people. I personally got a beautiful little beagle from here and it was a great experience. I think they care about every animal in there. Highly recommend read more

We previously took our dog to Doggie Styles, and they did a pretty good job, but the people at Delilah's went above and beyond! He is an adopted dog, and he does not take kindly to new people and situations. They took the time to get to know our dog when we went to drop him off, and were very friendly to us as well. They made me feel comfortable leaving my dog there while I had to go to class. They spent a long time working with our dog during the grooming process because he tends to lash out while being groomed. When we came to pick him up, he looked like a brand new dog! They told us that he just needs time to get to know them and that should make him more comfortable. I definitely recommend this place, and I will absolutely take my dog there again! read more

In a moment of stupidity, I decided it would be a good idea to buy a puppy from a pet shop. While I found the staff to be friendly and the prices on pet food/supplies to be reasonable, there's still the fact that they buy/sell puppies of questionable breeding. My dog has had many health issues that are breeding related. Her temperament in general was terrible from birth on. She is a dachshund from a breeder in Bloomington. When I looked into it, that specific breeder had been reported to the ASPCA TWICE, if that shows you how much they look into the breeders they're buying from. Please, please, please. Visit a shelter and give a needy dog/puppy a home! At the very least, visit a reputable breeder if you're set on a purebred puppy! read more

I took my dogs here for the first time, they went back with the first dog to cut his nails and my dog was crying and struggling to get out of there reach, so they held my dog down while cutting his nails. I took my first dog back and comforted him after his traumatic experience, as they took my next dog in, he whimpered and cried too. On the ride home I set one on the seat next to me and one behind me. Both blankets had a white towel. When I got home, my dog in the back seat bleed all over the towel, because they cut through the vain in his nail. Will not be taking them back. read more

After years of hearing wonderful things about Delilah's, I took my new baby maltipoo for his first grooming to Delilah's. Leslie is a master of her craft--from what I saw on that first visit. As a new petowner, I was completely clueless as to how specific I should be or what words to use to describe how I wanted my baby to look. He was perfect. Unfortunately, Leslie is no longer grooming and has been training new groomers. Though hesitant about having a new groomer when it was only his 2nd grooming experience, I gave Delilah's the benefit of the doubt. The second experience wasn't terrible... it also was NOT worth the price. He looked nothing like the picture I showed them and the worst part--he came home COVERED in fleas. Not only did I pay for a haircut that could've been done better at PetCo, but I spent the next 48 hours giving my dog a flea bath, washing all sheets, covers, blankets, dog toys, AND cleaning my carpet. After one less-than-satisfactory haircut, I decided to give the new groomers ONE more shot with my baby. When dropping him off, I specifically told Leslie (of all people) that my main concerns were his ear hairs. The rest of the body needed a trim, but I couldn't get myself to pull those ear hairs out and it was getting messy so I definitely needed that done. I also specified that I like the puppy cut, especially for the face because I am NOT a fan of the mustache/beard that they always give to maltese/maltipoos. When the groomer brought out my dog, I was... indifferent. I just watched as she brought out a white maltese that seemed to resemble my baby. 3 seconds later... It hit me. She was carrying MY baby. He looked NOTHING like what I had asked--he was barely recognizable. My 6mo. old pup looked like he was actually 6 years old, with an awful part down the top of his head, a beard, SHARP nails that left scratch marks on my chest/shoulders (which has NEVER happened when I've clipped his nails at home) and with all this, I was in a rush to leave for Indy so I was willing to pay the full price and deal with it. When I took a closer look at my pup in the car, I realized one last thing. They didn't pluck his ears. AT ALL. I was livid. I took him back in to the store and waited patiently for one of the staff to become available. I will give them props for their service--they were very nice and offered to fix him up at no extra charge. Leslie apologized--though the real apology should have come from the groomer herself. On top of this, I had to wait around an extra HOUR--causing me to miss most of my big family dinner AND left myself and my car completely covered in freshly trimmed dog hair. The main reason for choosing a maltipoo was for its NON-shedding qualities. My other gripe about Delilah's comes from the two times I've called to ask for tips on home grooming. You can understand that after such terrible grooming experiences, I'd like to give it a go myself and possibly save a lot of cash in the long run. The first time I called, I asked if they would allow me to watch them clip my dog--not ask questions or interrupt in any way--just watch. They gave me a speech about how "it's how they make their living" so they prefer not to show owners how to clip their pets but if I insisted, it would be O-K. I was put-off by their tone so I didn't bother watching that third (and final) grooming. My second call was made today. After spending over $200 on professional grade clippers and blades, I merely asked to speak with someone for basic tips--since they are always so helpful when giving tips on everything else. The lady that always works the register answered, talked to someone else the WHOLE time I was speaking to her, and simply said that she didn't know much about grooming and only works up front and nobody was available to talk to me. "I do hear them mention that they use blade size 4 a lot but I don't know if that's appropriate for your dog." ...gee. Thanks. I used to be impressed by their customer service and extensive knowledge on pets and all of the different products available for petowners. Today, I realized that it's all an act and all they want is your money and loyalty. I can't blame them for wanting the money, as I'm a businesswoman myself. I'm all about staying loyal, especially to small local businesses, but they have officially lost my business, as well as my close friends', after their complete lack of helpfulness regarding grooming. I'm extremely disappointed in Delilah's and upset to see such a well-reputed business not living up to their previous reputation. read more

I can't attest to whether or not they sell puppies from mills (which I am completely against btw) but I did take my dog Scooby here to be groomed and they did a beautiful job. I was resistant to take him at first because of the reviews but decided to give it a shot last minute and I'm very please with the work they did. He looks beautiful and the woman who grooms is very caring and answers all questions and the people who work there are very friendly. While I would never buy a dog from a pet shop and only have rescue dogs, I will be taking scooby back to get groomed there again. read more

I came here with my service dog today wanting to look around and possibly find a new store to shop at, after today, we will not ever go back. We mistakenly went to look at the puppies and an employee informed us he could not be back there- perfectly acceptable, we left the area; the employee followed us out of the area, cooing at my service dog and leaned down with her entire body and put hands on either side of my dog asking what kind of "baby" he was. I had to quickly pull my dog away from her and onto the other side of me and walk away from her. She then made a nasty comment and went back to other customers commenting about how ridiculous I was. I went there to get my dog's nails clipped.The big woman behind the counter took my dog into the back where I heard her screaming like I've never heard before and I heard this woman yelling at my dog!! My 8 pound dog! When she brought my dog back, I saw that my dog was tracking blood on the floor! This woman "quicked" 6 of my dogs nails and just left them to bleed. Then, she has the nerve to blame it on me, saying my pup was difficult. Which is ridiculous, because my dog will just roll over on her back and let you do what you need to do (even with strangers). Since then, my dog is afraid for me to trim her nails. I was shocked and appalled that this woman was allowed to be near animals. What's worse? This woman told me that she also worked in a nursing home! I know its a family run business. I would never put my family's legacy in the hands of someone so cruel and rude. They are mediocre. I have had large size pound dogs my whole long life. I recently inherited a very young small dog, maybe a malti-poo, and knew nothing about small breeds, care, training, grooming, feeding, nothing. I took the pup there to buy supplies because of their grooming service. (For years I've gone exclusively to T & T Pet for food and supplies for my big dogs). The first grooming experience was great, but when I went the next time that groomer had left employment. I had one of their other experienced groomers do it, it was so-so/acceptable. Number three was the final time. I asked for a trim, they shaved the poor dog like a bald mole rat. It was cold outside, and the pup was freezing (despite clothes, ugh), and traumatized for most of the week. Willing to accept some of the responsibility for this fubar, like maybe I had not communicated clearly. I honestly could have considered giving them another chance at grooming until I saw the way they treated one of their young new employees. Forget these folks! I run a small business and refer to my employees as co-workers. It is important to me my co-workers are treated well, paid fairly (shared profits!), and happy working. My boyfriend and I got a puppy about a year ago who is a very picky eater. I have used dogfoodadvisor.com to research my dog food before purchasing it. We buy a 4 1/2 (out of 5) star dog food called Taste of the Wild because we are on a budget, and it's only $50 a bag whereas Orijen is $70. The $20 difference is a big deal to us, and TOW is still a very good dog food with no grain and lots of meat. However, our dog doesn't seem to like the taste very much. We went to Delilah's to find a dog food in our price range that he would want to eat. I had never been there, but I knew they had a nutritionist on staff, so I hoped they would be helpful. Instead, upon walking in the store we were shooed into a corner and made to wait because we brought our dog with us, and the individual working in the store was holding a puppy that she said didn't like other dogs. Why is an unfriendly dog allowed in a pet store? Why does my friendly dog have to go and hide? Well, whatever. So we wait about five or ten minutes for the woman at the front to come around. I begin to explain my situation to her; when I say that I use TOW and its 4 1/2 stars, she interrupts me "But Orijen is much better!" I say that I know that, but it's a budget thing. She completely ignores my budget, and starts trying to pressure me into buying the "better" dog food. Her attitude basically seems to be that if I won't buy the most expensive dog food, then I don't really care about my dog. From my perspective, I am a consumer that has educated myself and I'm not going to pay whatever price because some small business owner tells me its better and can't explain why. I started to get frustrated because she was ignoring what I wanted. I repeated my budget, and she scoffed and said I wasn't going to find anything for that price here, so we left. When I got home, I double-checked the TOW ratings at dogfoodadvisor, and it turns out that the particular flavor we've been using actually gets a 5 star rating, the EXACT SAME as Orijen. Either the woman at the shop was completely unaware of this (which is bad), or she wanted to mislead me (which is worse). I am shocked at the pretentious, ignorant attitude of this store. I would have preferred to give my money to this local business over wag.com, but apparently they are not interested in clientele like me. read more

Delilah's is a great pet store. The workers are very knowledgeable and answer all your questions. I would go to the store once a week throughout college and always wanted to buy a dog from Delilah's. I finally convinced my parents to get our dog Brady, a King Charles Spaniel/ Maltese mix. He is a great dog and is healthy. He is bigger than what we expected which makes us question if he is really that mix, but other than that, we are very pleased that we did business with Delilah's. Next year when I can get a dog of my own, I would definitely drive from Chicago to Bloomington to buy from Delilah's. read more

I got my Golden Retriever from this shop 3.5 years ago. I was a little hesitant buying from a pet store, but he was and remains a great dog, in great health and I never had any problem whatsoever with him. I trusted the staff, got a good deal, and I now have spent several years with one of the best dogs I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. It's a great store for pet stuff in Btown if you want to get a little more local than the big chain pet-stores. They are friendly and helpful and have decent prices...I noticed some reviews from people condemning the pet store business but, like most businesses, they vary a great deal and I think most people who visit this place can see that they care about their animals and keep them in comfortable, safe and healthy conditions. Our French Bulldog, Canela, has been saved several times by Leslie and her mother. She had a ruptured disc which left her rear legs paralyzed. Beyond getting the dog wheelie, they provided medical help. One time in particular, Nela chewed completely through her foot, while "sleeping" in her crate. We could see the bone, tissue, ligaments, and it was literally sickening. Leslie recommended a green salve, colostrum, and antibiotics. It took a few weeks, but her foot completely healed! We drive an hour from Paoli each time she is in need and that will never change. This is not an in and out pet shop, but if you take the time to speak with everyone, you will receive the best care possible! Nela just turned 8 and has been paralyzed for a little over 3 years. The puppy warranty is a joke. 72 hours to get you puppy to a vet is not nearly enough, and if something is wrong, they won't take care of the problem, leaving you with the options of giving up a loved pet, or paying the expenses yourself. read more

They have only healthy pet food and snacks, a large variety of supplies and services, free advice....and the staff is so knowledgeable in all departments. I go there, get in and out at a reasonable time. The owners are wonderful people- who 'know thier stuff! Karen and Leslie have helped me numerous times with an assortment of animals.....abused and rescued animals, and as well as with my beloved pets....example: 'baby' was on thier 'bad' dog list....but they still bathed and groomed her....when no one else would! As for 'natural ' pet care....they are the best! My last three dogs have lived to an old age and they have been there for me....even if it was just for support! My son bought a dog from them, and she is just beautiful and healthy! Sometimes they tell me what they think.....even if I don't like it! But I listen, because they have my pet in mind. read more

Never go to Delilah's. I used to frequently visit the store until oneday I bought a kitten there. After a month or so my kitten became very ill. The kitten had a disease that it was either born with or picked up from sharing a disgusting litter box with all of the other cats in the store. He had to be put to sleep immediately. When I called the store to warn them, the lazy woman on the phone acted like there was no way to warn all the other customers who bought the cats with mine because I did not know my cat's exact birth date. I called multiple times too to speak with the owners who were all too busy to get on the phone or even follow up with me. $500 in vet fees and a broken heart later, Delilah's does not care about their customers. read more

Took my pom/yorkie here for the first time after receiving a recommendation. I explained my puppy knotted a lot so I wanted her shorter on the body but keeping her yorkie look and take out the knots under her ears. 6 hour later when I returned for my baby she had been shaved from head to toe. knots remain under her arms and her face was made to look like a completely different dog. Not what I asked for. She was uneven as if a child got a hold of the scissors. When talking with the girl who did not do he job as we requested her defense was to say "sorry she could not glue the hair back on". Really? Pretty disgusting as all the staff there stood around socializing. Very disgusted with this business and how they handle their mistakes. read more
