We went there 2 days in a row back to back. I brought 5 red bean taiyaki the 1st day only because the man had an attitude and also didn't want to make me the vanilla cream ones. The red bean taiyaki was pretty good and had a bit of a crunch when it was warm but kinda less so when it turned cold and soggy. A good point was that the red bean filling was not overly sweet like in some other dessert fillings. My sister and niece went back the next day to get more and was met with "What do you want?" in a really testy, I can't be bothered with you kind of questioning when it was their turn to order. This time he did make the vanilla cream ones but his overall attitude soured us to the patroning experience. Not sure we would go back again based on piss poor attitude alone. Delimanjoo is a hidden gem in Ellicott City - their taiyaki is a must-try! The stand is located inside Lotte Plaza, all the way down left from the entrance. They sell roll cakes, Korean pastries, and snacks, but my go-to since childhood has been their taiyaki - fish-shaped pastries with red bean custard filling. They're always served fresh and hot, which is a plus. The ladies running the stand are sweet as well, and it's pretty grab-and-go. Each fish costs $2.50, which is higher than before, but reasonable. I highly recommend checking this place out! I often find myself craving taiyaki, so I'll certainly be back. read more

Eh. Wasn't impressed with the service. It was likely due to a language barrier, but the gentleman working definitely wasn't interested in helping me out. Came for the taiyaki, but left without ordering as they had no ice cream that afternoon. Also, although chocolate and vanilla were mentioned on the menu as a filling option, red bean was only available. It's a food stall inside of lotte mart but it's amazing. I had two of the Taiyaki and they were perfect. Like packed waffles with red bean paste inside and at 2.50 each! I want to pick one up everytime I'm in the area and wish they were closer. Visited Delimanjoo to get Taiyaki, and it did not disappoint! We saw them being made fresh. They were warm, sweet and delicious! Their pricing is also very reasonable. They only had red bean when we went, but they apparently have different flavors (vanilla and chocolate). We hope to revisit and try a new flavor! read more

Bungeoppang, or tayaki, or red bean filled fish cake pastry is the hot item from this little food stall in the Lotte grocery store complex. Hot off the grill, the pastry is crispy on the outside and warm and chewy on the inside. The red bean paste is perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. At $2 a piece, it's a good deal to tie your hunger over until you get home with your groceries. Currently do not have the J shaped ice cream thing, the owner said something to do with covid? It looks better than what it actually tastes. First off, they have a ton of sample spoons next to the ice cream but get really angry and say no if you ask for a sample. I went ahead and tried it out anyways...come to find the cute little fish cone/bread is actually frozen and hard. They pre-preserve it for their own convenience so I couldnt actually eat it which was sad. I enjoyed the custard in the inside, definitely not worth trying again, especially considering their horrible customer service! read more

Was so excited about this place opening! They make these little fish pastries that are filled with red bean (bigger size) or sweet cream (snack size.) They're so delicious, and freshly made by this cute couple that owns the place. They also have other prepackaged sweets/bread, gelato, and drinks for you to buy. It's the perfect dessert after getting food at the lotte food court. read more

Attendant wasn't wearing a mask inside. But that's not the real reason I'm sad about the visit. We walked up to the kiosk and I guess the attendant was talking to his friend because he ignored us completely. We decided not to be rude and take a look around the small venue and as we were looking at the ice cream flavors the gentleman looked at us as he left his kiosk to walk outside and smoke with his friend. I always got these when I was in Korea, every chance I got and there was one location in Virginia that sold these but wasn't able to visit as much. They have a variety of options but mostly the fishes will either be filled with custard or sweet red bean filling. I've only tried the small fishes with custard and the boongohbbang with sweet red bean filling. As another reviewer said - these are perfect with coffee! I love this place! It's inside the Lotte by the food court area. I have had a few different things from them now so I feel it's time for a review... My husband and I got a roll cake to share at a holiday gathering and it was very tasty. I got a mango bubble tea last night and it was delicious. I have had some really mediocre bubble teas so it really stands out to get a good one. We also got some of the small fish shapes pastries with cream inside. Sooo good! The larger red bean shaped fish (bungeoppang) was good too and hot when we bought it. I did like the small fish better though. Also, it's cool to see the owners making these delicious treats right there. read more
