I was in town for one week and am in the process of learning to kiteboard. I spoke with Bob (the…read moreshop owner) and the instructor, Jaxson, about my skill level (beginner, got up on the board and moving forward during the last lesson I had) and goals prior to arriving. My first lesson with Jaxson was not good. He was not prepared from an equipment/communication standpoint for the lesson. He had only a waist harness (no seat harness) for a beginner lesson. He brought only one size kite, which seemed too small for the amount of wind we had and my body weight. He brought only one size board, which was ~20cm smaller than the board I used during other lessons. It is my understanding that larger boards are preferential for beginners. He asked me if I wanted to wear a helmet (yes, I am still learning). He did not bring an impact vest. He did not bring a method of communication (ie BbTALKIN). Whenever I would ask Jaxson a technical question, his basic response was "that's just how it is". I am a very technical person and I appreciate understanding how things work. I like to know the details. When I tried to dig deeper for further details, I could sense him getting frustrated. He would just reiterate what he had already said. After our lesson, he sent me a text stating that I wasted his time and money because I misrepresented my skill level (I told him I was a beginner). He also stated he was upset with me because he bumped me ahead of other students that had been waiting for at least a month for a lesson (I did not ask for this). If you want to learn to kiteboard, please go elsewhere or you will be disappointed. I wasted my time and money (and excitement). Please don't waste yours!

My family and I rented a pontoon boat for our family of 8. We filled out the waivers ahead of time…read moreand arrived early to go over any additional paperwork. The people on the dock gave us a very brief overview of the boat and gave us a map to use on the bay. We headed out and within a few minutes of leaving the marina, we noticed something wasn't quite right with the engine. It was making a sound that reminded us of metal clinking together. As we continued on, the motor stalled out and would not start again which brought on some serious panic. We called the number that we used to book the reservation and the woman on the line stated that she didn't handle this sort of thing, which was not helpful in our current situation. We finally realized that the person on the dock wrote his phone number on the back of our map. We called it several times with no answer. This brought on more concern as we were stuck in the channel and had no way to get back to the dock. We finally received a call back 30 minutes later after waving other boats down for assistance. All in all we got back to the dock to switch out boats but the scary part of all of this is the fact that in a true emergency, no one is available and things could have been much worse. This company needs another hotline besides scheduling if any renters need support or assistance.

First I would like to say that I have rented boats before from other places in the U.S and this was…read morethe first time I had to deal with such a horrible experience. TO begin with it was this past weekend, Memorial Day Weekend, and everyone is out trying to rent boats. It's a fun thing to do with a group of friends and we were very much looking forward to it. We called around to a few boat places and although Delaware Marine Group was not the cheapest, they boasted that their boats were a lot faster then the others around them. Since we wanted to go tubing, we thought this would be our better option. First of all this place is so unorganized. We made a reservation and they completely forgot about us. When we finally got that figured out it took at least 30 minutes for them to bring our boat up to dock. AND THE BOAT THEY BROUGHT WASN'T EVEN OUR BOAT. They accidentally sent our boat out with another party. This created a problem since we were a group of 13 and the boat they wanted to send us out with only carried 12. Well they said it wouldn't be a problem. They took our money, didn't go over any safety rules and didn't have us sign any contract or anything so off we went. We were on the water for about 30 minutes, on a boat called the Hurricane, which was too small and too slow for our party, before the cops pulled us over in the middle of the bay. They did a random inspection of the boat and found that we did not have enough life jackets on the boat, and that our driver didn't have a license (we didn't know we needed to have a license and we were never told this) When we returned to the harbor the owners seemed SHOCKED and acted like they had told us all the rules. We politely argued and the cops fined them for the life jackets and fined us for the license. We asked for a refund but the only refund they wanted to give us was TO USE THE TIME WE STILL HAD LEFT ON THE BOAT AT ANOTHER TIME. We paid 380 for four hours and only used 30 minutes, and it was our last day at the beach. We told them that since we did not sign a contract with them, he could not hold this requirement against us. However he said since we made the reservation it was our RESPONSIBILITY to know what the contract stated- EVEN THOUGH THEY NEVER GAVE US A CONTRACT TO LOOK OVER. After bickering for 15 minutes and getting no where, other then we are going to sue you for legalities that he was gong against, he had one of his staff take us out on the same boat for the remaining time. THe kid that drove us was really nice-however he said that DMG has problems with all of their equipment and will never issue refunds. For example, that day someones jetski died in the middle of the ocean. Thank god that person had their cell phone on them, or else he could have died. He wanted a refund but instead they sat him on another jet ski. This place is all about money and not about customer service, don't be fooled. The owner comes off really nice but he isn't and all their boats and jetskis have problems. They are old and run downed and they are charging way to much. There are cheaper boat rentals in other places, especially Ocean City. They say you get what you pay for but we paid almost 100.00 an hour and got a slow boat ride and ocean police ticket. BEWARE

This time we traveled south in the bay since the current was moving North. That made it easier for us to kayak back to the kayak base. We returned within one hour. I showed up on the day of my arrival and rented a 10" board with no problems. FYI - the 10" board fit in my compact-size SUV with the headrests removed, front seat down and fin removed. The rental included a paddle and the board also had a leash. I had my own Coast Guard approved lifejacket. I also booked the Burton Island's wildlife guided tour which was a 2-hour tour thru the salt marsh around Burton's Island. Bob (our guide) gave a quick "kayaking 101" before we started and off we went. We had 8 total in our group which was a perfect size for the tour. On the tour we observed ospreys, lots of different types of sea gulls, cormorants who use the bay as a runway before taking off into the blue sky, horseshoe crabs, teeny-tiny fiddler crabs no bigger than a quarter, and little turtles popping up to see what was going on as we were paddling thru the marsh. Bob is a great tour guide with lots of info about the area and wildlife. The meeting point for the tour is the Burton Island's trail head located on the north end of the Indian River Marina inside the Delaware Seashore State Park. For me, it was a short15 minute drive from where I was staying in Fenwick Island. Price wise - the tour and SUP rental were quite reasonable. I will definitely rent from Coastal Kayak the next time I'm in Fenwick Island.

Our group of jet skiiers included everyone from parent/child combos to adult couples and even expert jet skiiers. My wife and young daughter went on the banana boat experience since my daughter isn't old enough for jet skiing. They had a blast getting a ton of ocean spray in their face while being towed behind a motor boat (make sure to wear goggles). My son and I shared a jet ski and I was really impressed. They are certainly powerful (we got up to 60 km/hour), but have some impressive built-in safety features. There is an auto-break that applies whenever you approach the jet skiing boundaries or get too close to another jet ski or other boat. As a novice, I really appreciated that feature. The staff was uniformly friendly. The location is nice, located next to a public beach that we relaxed in afterwards, as well as a couple of bars (note you can't drink before jet skiing). There isn't a ton of parking, so factor that in as needed.

I also loved being on the beach at 5:30pm when dogs are allowed back on the beach, so nice to see everyone's pups excited to get their paws wet. I got a very low key vibe on this beach and I found it to be relaxing here. I missed out on much of the stores/restaurants in town being open as I was there a couple of days before the start of the season, but it looked as though there were a lot of options, all with in a 10-15 minute walk.

Terrible service - RUDE OWNER We stayed at the hotel next to the surf shop and was very interested in renting some water craft to make our stay more enjoyable. As my son and I waited for my daughter to come down, we built a sand castle on the sand and watched SEVERAL GROUPS go out on the water. After we realized my daughter was not interested, we walked over to the booth to reserve a paddle board for him. The owner said he would be right back, and I filled out the forms. After waiting for a while we decided to go for a walk to the gazebo around the corner. When we came back, not only did the owner say he was closing for the day, but was VERY RUDE without offering any explanation as to why he was done for the day at before 1pm other than the weather was going to get bad - all he kept repeating was "Can I help you?" Even the people sitting under the cabana didn't understand why he was being such a prick, the weather was just fine. We went to the beach and enjoyed the beautiful weather for the next 3hrs. Pop up storms my ass, if it was so dangerous, why did you just send out a group of 10 people just before us?!? ... And can you post anymore signs about how "employees work for tips" I hope the employees don't loose out on too many tips balancing out the owners terrible attitude. {EDIT TO JANIS RESPONSE} Thank you for your thorough response Janice. However, no one remembers this incident better than I do, and I will ALWAYS remember the owner (YOUR HUSBAND) being a prick. In regards to the safety, HE JUST PUT A PARTY OF OVER 10 PEOPLE IN THE WATER BEFORE US!!! Some of which even stated it was their first time doing anything like that. If you want to talk about safety, why was anyone even in the water then?!?!? We were on the beach well after the lifeguards pulled off the beach at 5pm that day - your weather map is shit! My 19 year old 5'6" daughter who is a collegiate swimmer and certified life guard herself never even came down to the bay that day to be sized up to determine if she was "experienced" enough to handle the 8mph winds. And my 13 year old 5'5" son, who is also an accomplished swimmer, was never even given the chance to prove that he was "experienced" enough. Even though we do not own our own, both of my children kayak and are very capable to handling themselves in the water. And had your husband have apologized and offered complimentary free service for the next day, we would not even be having this conversation!!! Instead, he was rude with his responses and left me feeling disgusted to look at the paddle boards/kayaks from my balcony for the rest of our trip! I'm glad that other customers walk away with positive feelings or you wouldn't have a business. read more

My family and I had a great time at Delmarva Board Sport Adventures! A few of us rented paddle boards, and the staff was very helpful in explaining to us the basics of using the boards and any safety precautions. My aunt rented a kayak instead of a paddle board because she had foot surgery years ago that has caused her to be much less steady on her feet. The staff helped her get in and out of her kayak safely and made her feel comfortable with the whole experience. They even offered some tips about how she could safely try paddle boarding if she ever wishes to in the future! The bay that you use the paddle boards/kayaks in was beautiful and we saw lots of wildlife including a dolphin. We liked our experience so much that we came back the next day with more of our family members. When we were leaving on the second day, we discovered that out car battery was dead. A staff member (I believe his name was Mike) so kindly let us use his truck to help jump our car! All in all, we had a great experience here and would recommend it to anyone vacationing in the Bethany/Dewey/Rehoboth area. The staff was friendly, knowledgable, and committed to giving guests a good experience. read more

Janis and George at Delmarva were fantastic! My boyfriend and I have wanted to try windsurfing for a few years now. We decided to give it a go while down at Rehoboth beach this summer. We had an absolutely wonderful lesson with George. In two hours we went from having no idea what we were doing to being able to windsurf in small spurts. The location was great for a first time lesson and George was never far away and always giving input on how to improve our approach and skill. George was also extremely flexible with our lesson appointment as the first day he was a bit worried there might not be enough wind so he graciously rescheduled for the following day. We are forever grateful for the lesson and it was definitely the highlight of our trip. We loved it so much we recently bought some used equipment of our own to continue to learn while at home on the lake. Thank you George! We hope to see you guys again on our next trip down. read more

Delmarva Board Sport Adventures is a cool place. Customer Service out the wazoo !!! My sons and I went sailboarding with lessons from George. Outstanding day. He was prepared for us like no other lesson I ever had. He had all the gear ready to assemble. My sons loved the hands on attention. George put us on the water and the boys learned so quickly because George took the time to explain each move and answered all their questions. He was observant and listened and adjusted things so they would not be pushed too fast. My sons loved their experience so much that we are now regular customers. My youngest is 10 and he talks about going back all the time and what he wants to do next. We have never had a better experience. read more

We went online to check availability for single Kayaks and had a super easy time navigating the website - it made it so easy to book! We had no problems finding their location and checkin was super fast and pleasant. Everyone working here is fantastic, professional, and kind. It was so refreshing to see smiling faces around every corner! It was organized and fast. We checked in, then went around the corner for life vests, then received tips and instructions prior to getting in, then we had people helping us onto the Kayaks. Delmarva Board Sports was fantastic! All of the staff were friendly and helpful! Great experience overall. Lizzy, my instructor for Paddle Boarding, was super great. Although we had a large group and most of us hadn't paddle boarded before, she had us all up and looking like pros in no time. I had so much fun that I want more and more! I can't say enough how wonderful the whole experience was from the welcoming staff, to the lesson on dry land to the water and back to land. Lizzy took photos of all of us on the tour and sent them to us for no additional charge! She was great; very friendly and helped to make us all comfortable. I highly recommend DBSA. read more

Kim was a very friendly guide! She took pictures of our party and was excellent in her instructing. Great location! The water was waist high, very calm conditions in the lagoon. Our teenagers were first timers and did an awesome job and had a great time. The owner is a condescending prick. Bought a boogie board for my kid to start out with and just had no input nor interest. He came across as a local shore elitist jerk. Ironically enough his business would go belly up if it were not for "outsiders" coming to town. He said he wanted to charge me double because I was from Philadelphia. The website noted that the fishing conditions weren't prime yet, due to currents of some sort. But as we were a group of total newbies, we were just as excited about going out onto the ocean far from shore as we were to discover fishing. The charter departed right on time. We went to several spots to fish and everyone caught at least one fish - we think we had a ringer with us, judging by the 6 fish she caught. We hooked a flounder but it was undersize and had to be returned to the ocean. You can take your fish home and clean them yourself or walk over to the shop and have them clean the fish for you for a very small fee. This was a lot of fun and we enjoyed eating our fresh fish quite a bit.

Captain worked hard to put the boat over fish, and our scouts caught fish...well, at least 1 each, mostly kingfish and sea trout. Plus an unfortunate skate. The mates were patient, helpful, funny- perfect fot the kids. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! Coat was $70 plus $5 rod rental + $.50 per fish to fillet afterwards on the dock. Plus, a 20% tip is posted as typlical gratuity on the boat. Would definitely come back to Anglers. Highly recommend.

This is the place to go for shark fishing. Captain Pete really does give a hell of an effort to…read morefind the fish! We caught 5 sharks and had a few more not hook up. Holy cow.....the fight of a lifetime! You have to try Captain Pete and his private charter out if you are looking for a great time. I had 3 younger kids out there with us and they all got to reel in sharks. He went out of his way to make sure the kids enjoyed themselves. The price was more than fair in my opinion. Captain Pete works his butt off the whole time. He earns it!!!!
