    Cuts bleeding in my face.
    Joseph G.

I am a 64-year-old man who was physically assaulted by a mover after he was prepaid over $600 for a job he refused to do. I was struck repeatedly while I was on the phone with U-Haul, seeking a replacement after the mover refused to complete a job that was fully prepaid. I calmly informed him multiple times (approximately 4-6 times) that there was no issue between us, and that if he would not perform the work, he could simply leave and I would arrange for another provider. While I was still on the phone with U-Haul, the mover suddenly punched me in the face--including my right ear and nose--and forcibly snatched a gold chain cross from my neck. This left me with bleeding scratch marks and multiple injuries. I have pictures of him holding my gold cross and chain. My wife recorded video evidence of the assault while I was on the phone, and we also took photos showing that I was on the phone when he repeatedly struck, the visible wounds, and the perpetrator holding my stolen gold cross and chain. I called the Delray Beach police when officers arrived, they appeared to be intimidated by the perpetrator, I later found out that he has prior criminal records for assaulting a police officer. They appeared to me as incompetent and inexperienced. They saw cuts and scratches on my face and neck. I also showed them pictures of the perp holding my gold cross and chain which he violently snatched from my neck causing bleeding wounds. They appeared somehow intimidated by the aggressor. One officer was mocking me and my wife while I was sitting on the floor dizzy and bleeding. He called me a liar! When I asked for a supervisor, I found out that one was standing on the side being passive. When I asked for his help, the young sarcastic officer was disrespecting the surgent and answering for him and talking over him. When I pointed this out to the surgent he yelled at the officer and asked him to move back away from the scene. But then the surgent said that I "just lost a fight". Between an old man and a young criminal with prior assault records on a police officer. They even advised the mover that he could press charges against me if I chose to file charges against him, and the mover requested the police to ask me not to press charges. Despite my injuries, the police declined to arrest or charge him at the scene, stating that the matter would be referred to the State Attorney's Office. I provided photos as evidence to the police investigation unit, and they also documented my wounds. Immediately after the incident, I sought medical attention at the emergency room, where my injuries and concussion were treated and reported. The police, showing apparent bias, warned me that the video evidence could be interpreted as me attempting to punch the assailant. Sadly, the Delray Beach Police failed to protect an old man after being physically assaulted and injured by a young perpetrator ith prior criminal records for assualting a police officer. The only and one thing they supposedly pride themselves for is to "Serve and Protect" they failed to provide. Is not this what we pay taxes and pay their salary for?

A Federal Agency accepted my complaint and is starting an investigation. Delray Beach won't even file a police report.

They arrested my boy for self defense, not cool man. On top of that, seems like nothing happened to the big back?

The houses are unique in external features which makes taking a drive along A1A very interesting. There are a few pedestrian cross walks where by law, the pedestrian has right of was and all traffic must stop. I still look both ways and make sure the traffic stops because I never know who is not paying attention. The town of Ocean Ridge is not commercialized in the way of shopping and dining. There are no chain restaurants or strip shopping centers. It is really just a little sleepy town where you either reside or use it as a drive through between Manalapan and Delray.

Scrambling to find testing, drive-thru testing is available at South County Civic Center 7 days a week from 9-7. We're all vaccinated and have our boosters. My husband & I tested negative last week when we flew back from Colombia so I'm not too worried, but with the holidays, we have family coming, and we all have to work in the office this week, so just to be safe. The line is long. It wraps all through the parking lot and onto Jog Road. It moves and is well organized. I got on the line at 11:15, an hour later, I'm about half way through. From start to finish it was just under 2 hours. Not they way I wanted to spend my Sunday morning, but it is what it is. Testing for both tests, the rapid and the PCR took less than a minute. Results for the rapid came back really fast. We weren't even home yet when the text came through. So what were the results...my younger boy and I are negative and my husband and the older one will be in a hotel in Miami for the next 10 days.
