Well, I had one terrible experience and one great one. Despite having an appointment it was a crazy visit. Over an hour wait. The numbers and letters called are in no specific order. The second time it was rather quick. Even if you have the updated license they will ask for your passport if you have a fraud alert on your profile. My last 2 visits here have gone pretty well. You need to know the rules to achieve success here... and it's not easy to know all the rules. For the DMV, you can't just show up. Just assume you need an appointment for any DMV related activity and you should do ok. Keep in mind, for some things, such as renewals, you can avoid this place and do it online. I actually find it interesting to come here. There's really no place like these places. No matter what state you live in, they are pretty much the same... I like seeing the people, how they deal with the system. The people who work here are generally very nice and helpful. Could use a little modernizing, but not a biggie. I got my reservation online, only waited about 10 minutes before my number was called, and received a copy of my automobile title in short order... $10. I always feel good after I accomplish a task at the RMV, like the feeling you get when you complete a tough puzzle. read more

Nightmare! Moved the office, literally just down the street, and the amount of paperwork to update the business license, is enough to make you never want to move. So confusing. The office holds 2 business licenses so it's double the aggravation. The website isn't clear and there's an order to doing this correctly. The first time I called, I was on hold for 40 minutes and when they went to transfer the call I was disconnected. Finally I got through to someone and was told I needed to go to the office in West Palm Beach so they could sign off on the paperwork. This can only be done in person.. I spent the entire morning driving up to the office and meeting with someone to sign the paperwork and pay the fees. Step 1 complete, now I can schedule the building inspector and the fire marshal. The gentleman I met with told me I could go straight to the tax collector in Delray and pay the business taxes. It was busy and walk-ins were not welcome. I was told I couldn't pay the taxes today because I needed the Building Inspector and Fire Marshal to sign the paperwork. Finally got everything completed. It took over a month. After numerous phone calls and different instructions, I got a bill in the mail for the renewal of the 2025-26 business tax licenses with the new address that could be paid online. read more

No one actually LIKES going to the DMV but, if you gotta go this one is okay... The bureaucracy is strong, you can't hear anything, half the people waiting with you smell unbathed, but... Very very confusing, forms without addresses. Nobody answers the phone. I held for 45 minutes and was disconnected. The website is not clear and when I asked my question, I got a response that I will hear back from them in three days. It's just easier to come down in person. There was a police officer standing at the door checking that people had appointments before entering. When I looked online it was over a month for an appointment. I wore out my arthritic feet and need surgery next week. I wanted to get a temporary disabled parking permit. There has to be a better way, this is really ridiculous! What happens to people that can't wait a month, can't navigate the website, can't get through by phone ... Two weeks later, I received a letter from the tax collector that my check should've been written now to Palm Beach tax collector instead of Florida tax collector. We came here so my daughter could take her driving test! The officer in the front had a good sense of humor and said to me that I should give her my car and I should take an uber home! Of course, assuming she passed (which I knew she would). We waited a bit passed our scheduled time of 9:30 am and then we were called up to the window. She told the clerk everything in a positive response to the questions, took her picture for her license and then went to take her driving test in the lot. K went outside but could not see the area where they were! (My only complaint was that the restroom needed tidiness!) We all went back inside (clerk was stoic so we had no idea if she passes) but when we went inside- yes, my daughter passed with flying colors! Fantastic service to current or new Florida residents in Palm Beach County. They are by appointment only!

For a governmental office, this place seems to be organized in terms of the process flow. When you walked though the front door, you first line up to get to the customer service where they ask you the purpose of your trip, then hand you a ticket with a number on it. You then go sit down in the large waiting room and wait for your number to be called. In terms of efficiency, well, what do you expect? I waited over an hour to get to my turns but from what I hear from other people who had been here before, you could be waiting anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 hours. And also, they really got to get their acts together. I called the office prior to my visit about updating our company's tax ID to the vehicle's registration. On the phone the customer service rep. told me to bring a copy of the W9 to the office and the clerks can get the records updated. But when I was there, I handed in the document and the response I got was they have no idea how to do it. I asked for the supervisor and she said they don't know how to enter new information into the system. I hate to say it but this is very typical when dealing with governmental agencies. To save my time and frustrations, perhaps I'll just go to one of those tag agencies next year. read more

If dmv's deserved Emmy awards it's this spot. The staff super courteous and kind and really appreciate their civil service to patrons here. While most of these places are sketchy or scary this location i felt did everything right and beyond. They were organized with appointment checkins and a greeter and had spacing for social distancing. Definitely come here with a preplanned appointment. While most dmvs take hours, expect under 90 mins with an appointment. And you're out! You can even do appointments for TSA precheck! Who knew! Way to go Del Ray! I would rather be subject to Water Boarding by Senator John McCain than have to visit this place again. I had to renew my driver's license and the NEW system requires the following: 1. Identification Birth Certificate (gee let me find my copy.....not) or Certified US Passport (got it) 2. Social Security Number Bring in the original card (really...I have not seen it since I was like 18 years old) or W-2 form (I am self employed so I don;t have one), Paycheck stub showing SS number (I am not on a payroll) or 1099 form (gee....let me ask my accountant). Be warned - most 1099s do not list your complete social security number and only list a partial one (THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE to them) so good luck finding one 3. Residential address utility bill (good luck if you pay online), mortgage payment book (my house is paid off thank you), rental agreement (I am not a renter), mail from a financial institute (what about us people that do online banking), voters registration card (yep, I got one of those), automobile insurance policy (got one of these too). 4. CASH or a check for $55.25 What about using a credit card.....NO way Jose, that would be way too convenient. 5. Photo warning - they do not give you a countdown and actually seem to enjoy it when your photograph makes you look like a crack addict or someone on Americas Most Wanted. I had a wonderful experience the other day when I went to Delray Beach Tax Collector office to get TSA approved. Not being a tech savvy older woman, I went in without and appointment which could only be done online. I was hoping someone there would be able to help me. I was right! Mylaine was my savior and hero. She took the time to go online using my phone to create an appointment, which happened to be available at that very moment. She took me to the TSA application area and then slowly walked me through all the steps. Her explanation as to what was happening and what to expect via email was wonderful. How do you not provide masks in a government building? I had to cut up a sock and use it as a mask to come in because, in the whole building, not one employee/manager had a mask. People are waiting months to be able to have an appointment People are new to the states People are coming rushed from work on their break to be able to go to these appointments. And you all are going to make someone reschedule for not having a mask? Not even refusing to wear, because that wasn't the issue. NOT HAVING ONE. I have never seen such a poor quality of customer service. Not to mention the way I was treated by the women who helped me. I cried under mask (sock ) out of frustration while she was giggling with her partner right next to her. Also, while I was waiting for my stuff, the lady right next to me did not speak much English. And the person who was helping her was being so disrespectful towards her language barrier that it was so hurtful to watch that I intervened to help this lady out by translating for her. 11/22/2017 visit & subsequent review update: I have been to this particular DMV location a couple of times throughout the years and ALWAYS been in and out in less than an hour. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Delray DMV staff who are responsible for processing so many customers so fast! I highly recommend coming to this DMV location. Even though there can be long lines it moves quickly. On this particular visit they straightened out multiple address appearances on my motorcycle registration in the Florida database. Agent ID: Apatel I completed a fingerprinting service on 07/18/2022 at the Delray Beach Office. The employee who helped assist me with the fingerprinting spewed inappropriate and disgusting comments. No employer should tolerate BULLYING of a staff member towards a customer, it is absolutely absurd. After the agent looked at my ID she said "you have gained a lot of weight" then proceeded to tell me "you still have time to lose weight". I was completely flabbergasted at those despicable comments. I cannot imagine all the other customers who have been bullied by this employee. No one was available to answer questions or advising residents. Browsed county offers much better service and they check your documents to advise if there is anything additional one might need prior to waiting in line. With the high taxes we pay in this county one would think the service would be better. I had one set of guidance from the person checking me in and another set of guidance from the person once my name was called. A colossal waste of time. I got here at 7 o'clock in the morning. They open at 8:15. The early bird gets the worm. This is a great place to get in and out as long as you go early in the morning I was out before 9 o'clock. I got my car registered today, ran to a bunch of people that I'm friends with on yelp and on Instagram. It was a lot quicker than I thought it was the people were a lot friendlier than I assumed and everybody was very helpful. It doesn't have to be THIS hectic to have your tax collector services met. I made an appointment, double--no, triple checked my documents. I checked all the FAQs and still had issues. I arrived and there was a line of 30 or so people standing, a crowd of 75 seated. Contrary to what the State run website states: they do not accept credit cards. Cash or Check only (at least for today--she says). Overall, a stressful experience. Err on the side of caution and bring cash--extra cash at that. read more

I went there last week to renew my drivers license, I did not know that there wasn't any walkins and I did not have an appointment. Nobody was very helpful to guide me in the direction to remedy my problem as soon as possible. The next available appointment was on June 28 and I cannot drive with an expired license. They also told me that there was an online option but that also takes 7 to 10 business days. I had spoken with somebody inside and they were extremely rude and angry because I had shown up with no appointment. An hour later after I got off the phone with a number that told me to dial just for someone to tell me the same thing over the phone. A lady came out and told me that there is a way to expedite your drivers license if you do it online and you will get it sooner than the expected 7 to 10 business days. She helped me last time with vehicle transfers and it was a pleasure. She gave me tips to make vehicke transfers and lien adds easier for the person completing them. You know, I can't believe I am in a position to give the Tax Collector (Driver's License section) 5-stars, but I have to, they've earned it! I recently moved here from Colorado and needed to change my residency / get a new driver's license. I was DREADING my visit as I knew it would be an all day ordeal. To my surprise- it wasn't! The location opens at 8am, I arrived at 7:45am to a line that was wrapped around the building, oh this'll be fun- their doors opened PROMPTLY at 8am and I was on my way. Once you enter the building you will be directed to a serpentine line to be screened for the service you need (driver's license, tags, tax payments, etc) to ensure you have all of the proper paperwork / documentation (awesome idea by the way, there's nothing more frustrating than waiting for hours only to discover that you have left something at home). When you finish you will receive a ticket with your number on it and an approximate wait time- find your seat and wait for your number to be called. I was VERY impressed that the wait time was between 30-45min and they had over 28 counters available to service patrons. Everyone there was SUPER nice and very accommodating- I was beyond pleased with their high level of customer service and all around pleasant demeanors. You don't see that often, if ever. I think a lot of folks that reviewed this location are angry because they didn't have all of the proper documents so instead of taking it upon themselves to do their research they'd rather bash the location as a whole because hey, not everyone can take responsibility for their own actions now can they? Delray Beach Tax Collector's office, there is no room for improvement, you have it figured out- I had a stress free visit and was in and out within an hour. THANK YOU! read more

Well I have to say that this is my 3rd time here and they are truly good. Ok, we cannot runaway from the lines and the wait, but they always do their best to make your experience here less painful that should be. They have funny announcements on the overhead speakers. They asked for us to give a student who had just passed the driving test a round of applause to congratulate her while playing the tunes of Celebration! All the attendants are very helpful! Don't forget you still have to wait, but at least it's a pleasant wait. Whatever issues I have with the DMV will be solved here. read more

We all hate the DMV, but this one, I kinda like. No, really. Maybe it was the day, maybe it was the location, but this was the best DMV I've ever been to. Normally, you're greeted by a sea of miserable faces, employees and citizens alike. Here, was quite the opposite. Upon entering the building, a super friendly and a genuinely funny police officer ushered each person to the right place. From grandmas to kid's getting their first license, this man was kind and caring, and kept the place organized. No cash? Head to the ATM. Renewing license? Jump the line. If you can make people at the DMV laugh, you should pursue comedy as a career. Now, the police officer could have been a one-off, but no, the entire place seemed to be jolly. Everyone behind the counter treated me like a lifelong friend, they were more than helpful and got me in and out within 30 minutes -- I know, it's unheard of. If you're going to a DMV in south Florida, this one comes highly recommended. read more

So this is the California equivalent of the DMV except none of them are open on a saturday and if you are looking online its crazy hard to tell where to go for what. So after going to the wrong place we ended up here, the right place for just about anything you could need DMV related. Got licenses (bring your out of state license, soc security card, and lease or a bill) and our car registration + plates. Tips: Get here and in line by 7 AM. You will be about 10-15th in place but that guarantees you get to walk right up to a teller when it opens at 8:15am. So no need to be earlier than that. read more

I asked the girl at the front desk and she gave me an attitude when I inquired about why none of the b tickets were being called. Sh told me that I goes in the order of the service waiting time. Very efficient office. Front desk that processes your reason for visit was super friendly and funny. They told my my wait time would be 3 hours and were very close to being correct. I believe I may have waited 3 hours and 30 or 45 minutes. Because I live locally I was able to go home, get some things done around the house (because we were leaving on a road trip the same day) relax and return in plenty of time to take care of my driver's license. The gentleman that assisted me, wish I knew his name, was super friendly and we had a great interaction. Overall I would return to this location because they just have it together. I went there today and had a horrible and very confusing experience. I was livid by the time I left there. I went to renew my drivers license I bought my birth certificate and gave them my license and voter registration. My license has my married name on it it's been that name on my license for at least forty years now. They saw on the computer that I was divorced and they asked for my divorce papers even though I never changed my name back to my maiden name it doesn't make any sense to me. I had an argument with the employee and then the supervisor about why do they need my divorce papers and the supervisor told me they can't help me and that I can never go back there. He's such a weasel. I have never been so mad I have had the same name on my license since I moved here 35 years ago. I went back again to find out why I need to do this and I was talking to the guard at the front door when the weasel came over and told the guard I wasn't allowed to go back in there. This place is rude and obnoxious and just horrible. I think you need to be another person to get a job there. So now I have to go to another place to do this. I am beyond pissed!!! We went to renew the tags on our car. Most of the people who worked there were very friendly and helpful. I wish they could move people through faster. Check in and getting a number was quick, but after that we sat for about an hour. Once our number came up we were through in about ten minutes. read more
