As a little reminder, I was the outsider today. So I don't want to send the wrong message to a local celebrated Bar N Grill. Let me start by saying that Pine Hollow Road is a very busy street, with vehicles traveling at speeds in both directions, so be careful crossing. DEL'S BAR N GRILL does not have a parking lot. Parking on the streets are free except on Fridays which is limited by time so read the signs (pictures enclosed). I gave this establishment 3 stars on the food that I had. I am not representing the whole menu. *In fact i had the most delicious crunchy juicy buffalo drum sticks I have ever tasted in one sitting and that was for starters. I then ordered the Snouders Burger with fries. Burger was a bit greasy and unappetizing, fries were thin and over cooked. Fountain drinks lacked sweetness both for my ginger ale and my friend's coke, so order without ice if you can? Service was very attentive and polite. Tables opposite the bar sit high and there are a enough to satisfy a large crowd. There is a juke box on the wall. Today was fairly empty inside when I arrived. The TVs were a little loud with WHEEL OF FORTUNE not something interesting like sports. Separate Men's and ladies bathroom was clean and presentable with a strong electric hand dryer and almond smelling hand soap. Location of Wall ATM. Pricing was reasonable. It's Friday and my wife and I wanted to eat somewhere different. Our friends agreed that we wanted to go to a local place. We selected Del's Bar and Grill in Oyster Bay, NY. We had eaten there before and were pleased with the food and serve. Tonight, we arrived for an early dinner. The bar was rocking and locals were enjoying each other's company. We sat down by the window and our waitress, Andrea, met us with a big smile. We talked and joked around with her. It was like visiting an old friend's home. We ordered our drinks and she came back quickly. I was surprised because she was bartending and serving the tables! She was delightful and talked with us and made us all feel special. We ordered a dozen Buffalo wings with Del's special BBQ sauce as our appetizer. They were amazing and we loved them. Three of us ordered the Angus 8 oz. burger with onion rings and one had the Rum Runners wrap with onion rings. Rum Runners wrap was marinated grilled skirt steak, sautéed mushrooms and chipotle sauce. It looked delicious and my friend loved it. The menu was full of references to Teddy Roosevelt and different buildings in Oyster Bay (e.g., Rum Runners, disco bar back in the 70s, Snouder's a building on Main St., the Baymen and Teddy's Boys). We took our time and enjoyed our friend's company. There was no rush at all. When we left Andrea smiled and thanked us. When we walked out we met some more friends, who asked how the food was, we all said it was great! Del's is a place to relax and enjoy the people you are with. Stopped in to this place for a quick bite . My grandmother used to live in Bayville so to say I've passed by this spot many many times is an understatement! That being said , place was pretty lively for an early Saturday afternoon ., I got the last seat at the bar and was greeted by Lisa who was super lovely and nice . I decided on the grilled chicken sandwich with melted mozzarella, roasted peppers and balsamic glaze ., delicious! Paired perfectly with shoestring French fries that were crispy and hot . So good ! The best kept secret in Oyster Bay for those who prefer paper napkins to cloth and aren't in a rush. Locals love this place for casual /inexpensive and generous eats and cold beer/drinks. We also order for pick up often; nothing comes close to a Del's burger in the area. If you enter, grab a seat (you don't have to wait for an invitation-this is a friendly joint with little front of the house help especially at off hours) and get ready for the best burgers served with fresh thin-cut amazing fries (included). I also heartily recommend getting an order is the chicken nuggets for your table; they're actually deliciously battered crisp chicken tenders (served with honey mustard: I ask for their ranch or Chipotle sauce instead). French onion soup is delish and not overly salty at all as it is in so many other bars. Their wings are top-notch, and if you ask for spicy expect SPICY! Weird vibe. Walked in to grab a bite to eat while visiting the water front. Seemed like a decent spot from the outside. No one greeted us when we walked in though. No one offered to seat us. It's like a dive bar kinda vibe but for locals I guess, Kinda like "sit wherever and figure it out". Guess we were expected to sit by the bar but we tried to get the bartenders attention and that didn't work. Kinda felt like we bothered them by waking in at 4:30 in the afternoon which was unusual to me. Seems like a reasonable enough hour to expect walk ins. We had to walk out of there. Went down the road and found a much better spot. This spot is cool I guess if you're a 50 to 60 something year old and you like to pound bud lights at 4:30 in the afternoon and like to complain about the humidity on a hot summer day. read more

This bar is filthy. It tries to hide behind the term "dive bar" which is fine, but please be careful and think twice about ordering food from their kitchen. The conditions are filthy - it was so bad I took the time to file a complaint with Nassau County Health Program's office as well as write this review, so hopefully others are warned. I am normally a lazy person / willing to write things off but went out of my way to type this out because of how bad my experience with this place was. We use to love visiting thus bar but tonight was the worst experience I have had in my entire life. It took over an hour and a half for my daughter to receive her chicken dinner. After waiting 50 minutes (when 30 -40 minutes was the estimated time the staff said it would take for the chicken to cook) and watching 4 tables of people around us who arrived after us, receive their food we asked about our food. He was told the chIcken would be another 20-30 minutes. My husband and I received our food 15 minutes later and then after another 10 minutes when she still did not receive her food I asked if we could at least get her fries but I was told it would be right out. We waited another 10 minutes and it was finally brought out. Not once did any of the staff members apologize for the delay- they just stated they had a lot of tickets. One of the blondish waitresses was then extremely rude when we voiced our displeasure in our wait time and said she would bring us a box for my daughters food since we were obviously in such a hurry to get somewhere and that we needed to leave. My daughter had not even eaten her dinner at this point as it was still hot from the fryer and she ended up in tears. Shame on that waitress! We will not be back. read more

When I heard they finally reopened one of my favorite spots in Oyster Bay, I had to know could it live up to the hype. All the talk was this place is amazing, so of course I needed to investigate. I got into my car and made the trip to get answers myself. "Del's" has the same curb side parking as before. Looking at the place from the outside I knew they meant business. Going inside I had to stop and fight back tears, this place was well worth the wait; what a spectacular upgrade job they did. It is under new ownership and they set the bar high with excellence. They wanted to set their business apart from the old one. I feel they did a bang up job. Talking to Brian the bartender I see they even did a great job hiring good help. The old staff was wonderful, but like I said they are heading in a new direction. Brian talked to everyone and did great getting drinks; my brothers only issue is they raised the prices a bit on beers. I understand, they spent all that money on renovations, they have to get it back someway. I was denied a burger days ago, but that wasn't the case today. I ordered a "Rough Rider" and while I waited I chowed down on some soft pretzels. The only issue I had was the cheese for the soft pretzel was too watery. I mean come on, I'm a man, creator of fire! I want some thick gooey cheese! (Did I mention I love CHEESE). But at least the Burger lived up to the hype. That burger made me forget about the watery cheese. The cheddar on the burger was sharp the bacon plentiful, and the onions added that little bit that I need to make it all work. I was please with my food. The place has a great atmosphere, great bartender, and good food, it's safe to say I will be back. "Del's would have gotten 5 stars if the cheese was thick. I had gone here after reading a rave review in Newsday. Since I lived in the area, I figured it was worth exploring. I passed it the first time- it's kind of a small and unassuming place and since it's on the main road going through Oyster Bay, you might be driving so fast you can miss it if you don't know where it is. I was impressed with how clean the place was for a town pub as well as the quality of the food. Not your typical bar food, you can tell there's some care put into the preparation. The only thing I was disappointed in were the fries- they were a bit on the greasy side, but the sandwich was great and the service was too. First off, Mike, the owner is an absolute gem! He is so kind and takes great pride in his business and the food there. He wanted me to be more adventurous with their burger menu but I am a burger purist. I went with a bacon cheeseburger with some delicious fresh cut shoe string fries and Pickles on the side. The burger and fries were PERFECTLY cooked. The flavor of the burger was unreal. Complimented by the very crispy bacon and gooey american cheese. The burger patty had crispy crunchy edges and caramelization that make me drool when i think about it. The bun was even great quality.Napkins and ketchup in the bag (many restaurants forget so this is a plus for me!) I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. We were in town for a concert and were looking for somewhere to grab a snack and beer beforehand. We stumbled upon Del's and almost didn't even bother going to the concert! The atmosphere was warm and cozy, the owner was bartending and was very friendly and inviting. It's clearly a local hangout and all of the locals were really friendly too! Good variety of beers on top and in bottles. Only ended up having the warm pretzel app for food but it was very good as well.
