My friend & i love going here after work. If you sit outside in the back/picnic table area - they have let us bring out dog. They even brought a lil dog water bowl out. I love dog people. Big menu with something for everyone. The starred menu items (reco by Black Sheep) are always great. I usually opt for a glass of wine over a cocktail here. For 2 apps, 2-3 glasses of wine each, it comes out to about $50 per person with tip. We'll be back lol read more

It's a great place, but the vibe decreased once the bartender changed at 8 p.m. The bar has a wonderful selection of beers and hard liquor!! The girl on the morning shift was incredible. She was on top of things, changed beer when it was close to the bottom and made money for the place. The lady on the evening shift decided to get her tips by getting half-naked and flirting with boys, which i would not mind if she would work and not only talk. My husband and I had zero attention for a solid 20 minutes. So, besides changing the music to some mumbling rap/r&b, she was a horrible bartender. There's something for everyone at the Black Sheep, and for me, it's usually a good beer, good friends and a chill time. Nothing can really beat their beer selection or the bartenders suggestions (Liam is awesome!) They're a great meeting place for clubs and trivia night is always packed. I just heard they are expanding in the coming months to include a beer garden to which i say, hell freaking yeah. Has day drinking on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in a spacious beer garden become a thing of the past? Ample seating both outs and indoors here. All tables have either an umbrella or are under a tent so you always have shade. Their beer menu is so long that it requires it's own fold-up menu. There is something for everyone and they ONLY have craft beers. If you're looking for a new beer to try this is the place to visit. As per Cuomo rules, you must order some sort of food item at the time you order your beverage. I ordered the cheddar grilled cheese. It was delicious and went perfectly with the Ghost Brewing beer I ordered. We were the only people outside at 5PM on a Sunday. It was sunny, not too hot, but nobody was outside except us (and the host who sat and waited on us). For a place with such an expansive beer selection, I expected more patrons on a weekend afternoon/early evening. Still, I can't complain. Beer was delicious and cold. Food hit the spot. Few public houses in Nassau to begin with, none as welcoming, well tapped and cozy as the Black Sheep. Familiar faces though it's been a while since we've visited. Eclectic and well constructed tap menu with great more in bottles. Even a nice little creative cocktail sheet. Tons of TV's and Wednesday night trivia at 9:30 pm, where incidentally, I first learned of the Black Sheep as part of a Yelp trivia team ( I was embarrassingly pathetic, knowing nothing at all to help the team) If you haven't been here, it's a must. Although there are free hot dogs in the little oven with buns and mustard/relish to adorn, there is no food menu, so feel free to picnic or order in. Parking in the rear is a little bit of a challenge, it's a tight rear of the building that is also residential upstairs. If so, choose a surrounding street and easily walk over. read more

I work right near here and have passed it for years without stopping in. When I learned that Black Sheep went vaxed only this summer it became a must. They set up a great outdoor area that is fun and comfortable. In the fall, the heat lamps kept it cozy. The service has always been friendly. The beer is always cold and the food is terrific! I was happy to see this neighborhood classic reopen and adapting to the pandemic. They still have an extensive tap list with the best selection of craft brews that I've seen on Long Island, but now they also have food in house. There is a food truck set up outside that serves their new outdoor seating, but the staff takes and picks up your order for you. Early on a Sunday afternoon, I had the entire beer garden to myself and was able to enjoy a quiet lunch of a beer and fried chicken sandwich. The whole experience felt like being able to attend a nice neighborhood BBQ while still remaining distanced and safe. I'm looking forward to coming back and seeing how they handle trivia night. read more

They hosted a fund raiser for North Shore Animal League America in their beer garden. The owner Vince and bar manager were very gracious and generous to our cause. The black sheep's beer list leaves nothing to be desired. This bar has the most extensive beer list I have ever seen. The bartender was very helpful when it came to helping us decide new beers to try based off what we typically like. I used to frequent this bar and it is just as I remember, a dark and cozy hole in the wall. Good music and a juke box if you want to listen to something in particular which has always been a must for my friends and I. They have a little corner nook that has seen better days but is great for a large group of friends to sit around and talk or play one of the many board games they have. There is a lot of seating to the side of the bar and high tops by the bar. There is also a dart board by the bar which is always so much fun. Where do I start? Well, I guess I'll say that I feel ashamed that before this past Friday, I probably haven't stepped foot in here since the spring. But that doesn't mean Black Sheep isn't somewhere I like to frequent. On the contrary, I wouldn't mind setting up a cot in the back so I could have full access to the ever-changing beers on tap. What I'm trying to say is, you need to come here. At the corner of 2nd St and Roslyn Road is where the magic happens as you really can't miss the black and gold lettering and usually a few beer goers hanging around outside the front. Entry from that front (there's a side door too) will bring you by the bar (on your left) complete with chairs to sit and get up close and personal with the tap handles. To the right, a few high top tables and darts further down. Tap handles line the front of the bar, but don't get used to the ones you see, as I said earlier the beers on tap change more frequently than you might change your clothes. The back wall of the bar section is made up of multiple chalk boards with the name of beer, ABV, and price, making it easy for them to remove something on tap or add a new write in. For the season, Black Sheep is featuring a ton of different pumpkin beers, which is another great feature of the place as they often load up on seasonal selections. I went with a local choice (Garvies Point Pumpkin Picker) which wasn't the best pumpkin brew I've sampled, but the fact that Black Sheep is featuring such a new and upcoming local brewery is downright awesome. Want to know more about the eclectic choices available? Grab one of the paper menus with a nice description of each beer on tap and a list of bottle and can varieties as well as some rarities that might be worth the extra few bucks. Beyond all this beer is a world of casual fun and hangouts with friends as there is a wall of board games available to be played (go for Jenga to read what people write on the pieces), plenty of TVs to get caught up on sports (I've watched my fair share here), and free hot dogs (yes, hot dogs). You might wonder a little about that last one, but after a beer or two (or three), the idea of a free steamed hotdog sounds delicious (and it really is). Favorite spot to sit is the back square booth which we happened to get lucky enough to acquire that night. It gives you a little privacy while still overseeing the ongoings of the bar. Once there, you almost don't want to leave. Black Sheep has that affect most of the time (except when it's occasionally mobbed). It's quaint and relaxing and makes you feel at home. Overall, I wish Black Sheep was my home, but it's nice enough to know I have a bar with such amazing qualities not too far from my actual house. As long as I'm around, I'll keep coming back to Black Sheep for the beer, the games, the hot dogs, and the brew-filled memories I continue to make there (corny, but true). read more

I simply don't live nearby to ever frequent this place again, but it was a fine enough, no frills place with interesting craft beer offerings. I didn't love the ones I had, but they were rich in the flavors they were made of. Wednesday Trivia Night was fun because the questions were actually challenging, but also because it had a music round! Don't know if that's standard protocol, but it should be! This is a good bar for what it is - a local neighborhood bar. Came in last night after work, the bartender was very nice and attentive. He was serving other customers, but he let us know that he would take our order shortly. They had a good drink selection. It pains me to write this poor review because I like this place but I have to. Your waitress at the bar tonight (Wednesday 9/14) was horrible and unprofessional. Btn 7-8pm, the bar area was relatively slow and she completely ignored me even after multiple eye contacts and proceeded to get orders from other customers to my left and right who came in after me. It was so embarrassing that a customer next to me jokingly asked if I had done something to her and it was obvious she was ignoring me. This happened for about 5-7 mins. Now, I'm a black man in America and everyone there who was served before me was white, at least when I was there waiting like an idiot. The bar wasn't full. If it wasn't for a nice white gentleman who told the waitress that I had been waiting after the waitress picked him before me, I would still be waiting. The waitress kept making eye contact but she chose to serve someone who came after me. Such a behavior is unacceptable. A restaurant/bar is a service industry. Bob is one of the kindest people I've ever met in the industry and made us feel like family! Trivia Night at Black Sheep! Now that's my kind of fun. This place is great. Let's start with the fact that when you walk in the front door you're met with (what seems like a mile of) beer taps. So many choices! I loved the fact they had a large selection of IPA's and even cask beer. There's a huge menu board behind the bar with the beers on tap or you can ask the bartender for a beer menu. Most of the beers were between $6 and $7.50, that's pretty competitive for the area. They even have Delirium-tremens for $9, a personal favorite. Head further into the bar and you'll find the tables in the back with board games. It's a fun place to hang out with friends. I was there for trivia night so this became center stage for the trivia game. Each table played against each other and the rounds include spoken clues and visual clues, some of the rounds were pretty tough. So now you put together an amazing selection of beers add in a comfortable place to hang with friends and throw in a game of scrabble, it's a winner. Oh, speaking of wieners, they also have an unlimited supply of hot dogs cooking up all day long. And best of all the Hot Dogs are FREE! The bartenders and waitresses here were very fast and friendly. Just the way I like it. I really like this place, I'll definitely be back to explore the beer menu at Black Sheep. You should try it too, Two thumbs up from me, it's a winner! This is my kind of bar. "Chill bar" is what some would call it. Good for a great beer (I have yet to try a cocktail there) and some low-key convo.
