Had the pleasure of going last weekend. This was my first drive-in movie experience. So they usually play 2 two movies for the price of one. So I was able to see back rooms and obsession. They also sell snacks as well. Since it is a drive-in movie theater is first come first for car assignment. The parking lot was very clean. I would suggest bringing some bring spray. The movie screen was huge and the audio was great. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about any drive in movie questions I had. read more

I have been to many drive-ins where you watch the first move at one screen and then you can hop to the other screen for the second movie. I've been going to the Delsea Drive In almost every summer since it reopened in 2004. I'm a big fan of the place, and of drive ins in general, having been to them all over the U.S. Watching a movie in the car on a warm summer night is such a classic American experience that everyone should get to try at least once. I last went to the Delsea Drive In on Saturday July 9, 2022 with my 7 year old son and my girlfriend to see Minions: Rise of Gru on screen 1. We got there at about 8:00 for an advertised 8:50 start time. The line was not too long and moved quickly, but they weren't checking cars at all like other reviews have noted. Every employee we interacted was friendly and courteous. This review is primarily for the concessions stand. Two years ago towards the start of the pandemic, they implemented changes that made sense at the time: only online ordering, to be picked up at the door, no customers allowed inside. This last visit was my first time in two years, and I was surprised to see these same changes in place, even though the pandemic has eased in this area of the country. The concession stand used to be one of my favorite things about the Delsea Drive In. The atmosphere inside was electric, packed with movie posters and classic arcade games, and a bustling staff behind the counter working on food orders, and quickly moving lines. People could sit and eat their food at the picnic tables outside and still be able to see screen 1. To be frank, the system they have in place now is absolutely idiotic. You order on your phone, minimum $10 order, and when you're notified that the order is ready after 20 minutes, you still have to wait in line for another 20. The whole concession area is now just one giant line of annoyed people. Luckily the movie started about 25 minutes after the posted time on their website, so we didn't miss much. Next time I'll just pay the $20 fee to bring in my own snacks. Other things to note: I wouldn't recommend seeing a show on screen 2. I think the screen is just too small compared to screen 1, especially if it is an action movie. As others have noted, the bathrooms are way too small for the amount of people on a Saturday night. And I'm glad they have amended their policy to state that things like hard candies for diabetics do not count as outside food. read more

Back in the day when drive-ins were given over in desperation to Planet of the Apes and Police Academy marathons, the films themselves were largely irrelevant to the nocturnal goings on in my father's cavernous Chevy Biscayne wagon. The food sucked and the sound was terrible but frankly, the objective was Paradise by the Dashboard Light not Cinema Paradiso. Fast forward forty years and we rumble into the Delsea Drive-In and miraculously, nothing has really changed except my sciatica and the dimensions of my ride. Now with the prospect of actually having to pay attention to the film I find the experience interesting and different but I really have no way of knowing if the nostalgia is talking or am I just in the market to alleviate boredom. Whatever the answer is, the entire evening was still kinda fun and if nothing else it forces me to clean my windows - but I do miss those damn, dirty Apes. We've had this on our date list for about a year now and we were grateful we finally got to check it off, during this pandemic. We looked this place up and it was cool to know that they actually still exist, especially in NJ. We heard and read it's been there for over 50+ years. This place really gave a old school feel when it came to the atmosphere, food, music on the radio station you had to tune into on your radio for the movie. It's a really nice place for a family movie night or date night. Next time we know to pack our foldable chairs to sit outside and watch the movie. You get a two for one double header movie, that's a huge plus. The food was really good despite the negative reviews we read on the pizza, we loved it, lol. One small complaint when it came to the customer service we purchased two bottles of water and were refused a cup of ice, we didn't bother to go back and forth but that seemed "extra". First experience at a drive in so I don't have any other experience to compare it too, plus it's during covid times. Overall experience was good. They have quite an extensive menu for food, and the prices are reasonable. But given it takes so long to get your food, I think most people would probably sneak in outside food (which isn't that hard to do) or pay the $20 fee if you're an honest type of person. I ordered a cup of milk online, and the eta was an hour long. They also text you when to pick it up, but the line to pick up was long so in total I probably spent 1.5 hours waiting for my drink. Tip: get there early for a good spot (we were 30 mins early) and you can also bring chairs if you want to sit outside. The sound plays from your cars FM radio. read more

We have not been to this place in eight years. The last time we went, the concession stand was available to go inside. Now all the food is ordered online and you get a text when it's ready. We waited an hour to get the food. Considering what we paid for the two hotdogs, small popcorn, onion rings, a soda and a root beer float, I would've been better off paying the outside food permit. There aren't too many drive ins left in the area..but this is one of them! I've been coming to the Delsea Drive In annually for about 6 years now. They used to allow you to bring in your own food if you paid a ~5 dollar fee but that's no longer. They do have a food hut which has a *very* surprisingly extensive menu and reasonable prices...candy, fries, burgers, popcorn, sandwiches, snacks, coffee, tea, sodas, icees, etc. You pay per person to enter and can stay for the double feature. There are two screens here, and 2 movies shown on each screen per night. So, you select the screen 1 or screen 2 combo but can't move to the other screen halfway through, if that makes sense. If you have a truck with a bed, that's the ideal car to bring. If you have a hatchback or SUV-type trunk they likely won't let you sit in the back with the back door propped up because it blocks others view, so you can either sit in your car or sit outside your car (bring soccer chairs!). Overall this is a really great spot. Bathrooms and video quality are a bit outdated but not too bad, and it makes sense for the experience. Definitely check this place out in summer or early fall! My family took me to Delsea for my birthday; this atmosphere allowed social distance while giving us something fun to do outside of the house We waited until Tuesday or Wednesday for Delsea to add the movies for the upcoming weekend, since it was the 4th of July weekend we were unsure if they were open since this was a first time but sure enough the new schedule was posted and the tickets were purchased with glee!!!! One thing we noticed is Delsea does not answer their phone at all, as we were going out of state and wanted to ensure they'd be open ahead of time. They were faithful with posting the movie nevertheless. When you do call there is a very detailed voice Message to make everyone aware of their concerns regarding their policies surrounding Covid-19, which was very helpful. We purchased our tickets and on the way purchased our food online (which was the only option given). I read many reviews which discussed the long lines waiting for each car to be inspected for outside food, this did not happen to us. This was very good, as we had our small dog with us and we were just interested in finding a nice spot. Our food was available when we arrived, which was good. The weather was perfect and the whole environment seemed so cool and nostalgic. You must set your radio dial to the right station to get the film, while awaiting the film the dial played classic music . We arrived about an hour earlier, we had time to get comfortable, eat and take everything in. The ground staff was helpful and friendly. The younger concession staff were friendliest older staff just seemed to be going through the motions. Food was good enough, We have never been the type to expect full course /five star meals from any theaters, I loved the funnel sticks though very light and tasty....my husband and I are popcorn lovers and we expected the popcorn to be much better than it was. This is not the end of world at all, but it could've been fresher. The projector was clear and the whole vibe was very relaxed. Everyone wore mask and maintained social distance. Came here to watch Lion King and Annabelle as double features. This may have not been the best time to come given that we were in the middle of a heat wave. Overall, our experience was an okay first-time experience. Neither of us had been to a drive-in theatre before so this was all new to us. I highly recommend going to a drive-in theatre at least once in your lifetime but I don't recommend it instead of going to the movies. We got there at 8:20pm for our 8:45pm movie and was able to get - in my opinion - the best seats in the house. The screen was right in front of us and it wasn't too big nor too small. Other than having to fan ourselves throughout the entire movie while being sticky with humidity + bug spray it was a good time! Concession prices are reasonable too. Tips - First-come first-serve - Get here early (20-30 mins early) for good spots - Bring bug spray and fans - "No outside snacks" Other notes - For the movie's audio you tune into a specific radio station and listen to it via radio - You will have to pop your trunk open for a car search before entering - Engine cannot be on while watching read more

Absolutely everything, they push you to get something from the snack stand that takes 2 hours to get. Can't hear anything if you don't have a working radio. Say they have radios to rent, that's a lie. Don't waste ur time the real movie theater is better and definitely easier to sneak your own food into lol. read more

I love going here. It's about an hour outside the city. MOST IMPORTANTLY GET THERE EARLY. Our first movie started at 8:50 and we were there around 7:30ish. No issues. You won't get a huge selection but it's 2 screens showing 2 movies each night. We went last night and saw Toy Story 4/Aladdin. So it's not old movies that are passed their prime either. So 2 adults cost me $26 bucks. I don't think you can shake a stick at that. When entering make sure you are sneaking shit in. They check your trunk. We did end up spending $34 on food. It adds up quick. You might be surprised though it's not your normal theater junk. I got a roast beef sub(horror sub) that was really good and pretty large. My wife got a veggie wrap. It was steamed veggies on a wrap but for being so simple was pretty excellent. The pretzel bites are the weirdest I've ever had. I can't tell if I like them. I think they too last weekends pretzels and deep fried them in the funnel cake machine. We got popcorn, we got drinks, funnel cake fries ..... SO FAT. I don't have children but I think this would be the best place to see a movie with multiple kids. Pull the minivan up backwards and set up lawn chairs. They have space to play before and in between movies. They have a yearly event that is a classic car show while watching Christine. Finally got my butt over to the drive-in with a group of friends and the kids last week. It was 100% awesomeness! 8 bucks for adults for a double feature... $7 for a food permit if you want to bring in your own snack, but I've got to tell you, the food at the snack bar is BANGIN. I got a spring roll and grilled asparagus, along with an apple cider milkshake. This is not your usual movie theater-fare. The food was seriously decent and reasonably priced. If you order your food before the first movie starts, you also get entered into a drawing for a free gas card. The catch is you'll wait in line forever. There's virtually no wait once the movies start. There's two movie screens, which are both visible from any vantage point. So there is a total of 4 movies showing on any given night. If you decide you don't like the movie you're there to see, you can always switch over your radio to the other movie's channel. The spring time is ideal to catch a movie if you've got small children because sunset is still pretty early. Just make sure you bring lots of pillows and blankets to cuddle up in the back of the van. My significant other and I had a great movie date at this drive in theater during the quarantine. It was his very first time attending and it was great. We were able to enjoy each other's company while being out and social distanced. The concession stand was well managed and we enjoyed the chicken fingers and fries we purchased. For at least 8 years, I've been saying that I'm going to go to this drive-in theatre one weekend... Year after year, the weather turned cold before I thought of it a second time. Last weekend I was searching for something to do with my 9 year old daughter when I remembered that she asked to see Despicable Me 3 (again), and I found that it was playing here... For a 9 year old that's never been to a drive-in, this was a nice surprise. We saw the movie she wanted to see, and Spiderman... At $11 for an adult and $8 for a child, and also getting to see two movies, this was much better than going to a regular theatre. You can bring in beach chairs to sit on if you'd like, beach umbrellas in case it rains, balls games or frisbies to toss around before and between movies. The only thing you can't do is bring in outside food and drinks... And these folks check your trunk and interior to make sure. Then have staff walk around to see before and during the movie. Had an amazing time at the Delsea Drive-in! I was nervous about the lines to get in and concession stands due to some reviews, but there was no issue at all. I ordered my food around 7:50, right before the movie started, and it was ready 15/20 minutes later. Great value for the meal - chicken tenders, fries, and drink combo were only $11, which is great compared to movie theater prices. Tickets are per person, but $14 is a great value if you stay for the double feature. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and you didn't have to rent a portable speaker/radio if you just used your car's radio. The audio was very clear! Some complain about the $20 to pay to bring your own food in, but you have to understand they make most of their living through concession stand sales. With the reasonable prices of the concession stand, I don't see it as a problem. Definitely support them, and keep drive ins alive! read more

Do not feel sorry for the owners and believe all that hype about concession sales helping to keep them in business. The owners are wealthy doctors. So here's the deal. You pay $11.00 per person for two movies. That's 4 hours sitting in your car. You are not allowed to bring food or water or anything. You must buy it. Fine. Seems fair, except after you place your order on your phone you have to wait in line for THE ENTIRE MOVIE!!!!! No sound so you're standing in a dark, open field getting eaten alive by god's night critters. I'm writing this review while standing in line. It has been 40 minutes and looks like at least 40 more. The order has been placed. Why do I have to wait in line for an hour and a half?????? Needless to say, you get one movie for your money. That's if you still want to see it. Personally I'm done with this dump. I think I will just continue to find terrible things to say about this place until I'm done standing in this line and am actually watching a movie, which I paid to do. I get it if the movie was free, but we paid to see this movie and there's no outside sound so you don't get to watch the movie you paid for. Why would people come here??? Why don't you just allow people to bring their own water at least. Why charge $20.00 for "outside food permit" when in reality you should say on your website the $20.00 is a "you don't have to stand in line all night fee".....8:45pm. Still waiting. What happens when your love of watching movies (with popcorn of course) mixes with your love of old time USA? Delsea Drive-In happens! This place is such a hidden gem I can't believe I haven't seen a movie here earlier. When in-season, pick a Friday or a Saturday night and bring your whole family or special someone to watch a movie under the stars. My girlfriend and I went here last weekend to see the movie Hustlers. Planning ahead, we packed my car full of pillows, blankets, sweatshirts, and sweatpants. Make sure to bring a rope or bungee cord as well to tie down your trunk to not block the view from cars behind you! Upon arriving at the gates, 2 employees greet you: one will inspect your trunk to see if any outside drinks or food is in there and the other collects the money for the movie (cheap I might add!). They have a policy where you'd need to buy a permit to bring outside food and drinks, although it would be pretty easy to sneak some in a bag I would imagine. There are employees directing you to your movie screen either Screen 1 or Screen 2 (as they show a total of 4 movies a night, 2 on each screen). You can either pull into your spot on the dirt/grass or back into it...we decided to back into it so that we could watch from my trunk. After parking we set up my trunk with the blankets and pillows and counted down until it was ready to wait in line for popcorn! A large popcorn was about $5 which was very filling and definitely hit the spot. Great menu too with tons of other foods available. Once the sun went down and the movie started playing, all headlights and cars had to be turned off, and the sound was played through the car radio. I used to consider the Delsea Drive-In a decent divey time. Sure the lot was a mess. The food was just plain bad. The screens were rusty and stained. The staff were....surly at best. Rules were enforced randomly and haphazardly if at all (smokers were everywhere, cars would be driving with headlights during the show, people openly consuming alcohol, etc. Almost never saw anyone do a thing about it.) But for the unique experience of watching a movie outdoors, you accepted all of the ugly warts and sucked it up. I thought I was hoping to help a good local business. I just can't do it anymore. Anyone with any common sense would know that it is unreasonable and unacceptable to expect an individual suffering from Type I diabetes to get up, walk to the concession stand, wait in the always extraordinarily long and slow moving line to order something and then ingest it in a sufficient amount of time to stave off a hypoglycemic event. Deleonardis has suggested that if you don't like his rules, son't come. Done and done. Never again under the current ownership. Would rather drive out to Becky's Drive-In theater in Berlinsville, PA. Curling up and watching a new release double feature with your fam and friends under an almost full moon on a gorgeous, cool summer night : Awesome. This place: Not so much! I was so excited for not only my first drive in, but to take the kiddos to theirs!! I had visions of scenes from "Grease" (I may or may have not even played the soundtrack on the way over) I had thoughts of "necking" in the back seat with hubby too. Wink Wink. Seriously though, I was reeeeeally looking forward to it. I even put it on the summer bucket list! We did enjoy ourselves throughly, but that was only when we were ingnoring the obvious flaws this 75 year old theater, located about 40 minutes from Philly has. -The line to get in. All the way down the highway and LONG!! We were warned to arrive early and we did. (6:30 for an 8:30 show) We still waited. That's probably because they literally search each car for outside food or drinks. Ok, I get, you want to make money on concessions, but not even a bottle of water!!! You're allowed to at least bring that to any concert or ball game. That's a tad insane. -So, you can't bring anything in, you must arrive a few hours early for your movie(s)....obviously you're going need to snack and drink. Oh, but wait....the lines are insanely LONG! Yet again! It took us 45 minutes to grab our food. There was a continuously long line the entire night even after the shows had started! I felt trapped. We had no other options but to wait in this crazy line and then wait again a long while for our food to be prepared. -One very small bathroom for both screens. So yea, you guessed it, a LONG line. Again! -They allowed cars to enter long after the movie had begun. I guess this wouldn't have been so bad if the headlights of those cars weren't shining in our eyes while we were trying to watch the movie. Not cool! -The second screen where adult movies (not porn people, PG/R rated) are showed and can be seen from where we were seated at Screen 1 watching children's features. Please tell me what sense this makes?! Any kid can and will and did turn their head to see what's going on the big, huge, easy to see screen to their right. They were playing horror movies ('The Conjuring'!!) after the first comedy!! Way to give all the kids nightmares! Ugh!!!! Common sense people! - Someone definitely messed up the night we were there watching 'Finding Dory/Alice Through The Looking Glass' because they showed a preview laced with profanity. Not one or two words, but a half a dozen or so! It wasn't such a huge deal for us as my kids have heard it all as I have the mouth of a sailor, but everyone around us commented on how inappropriate this preview was!! Again, not cool! "And you still had a good time" you ask? We did. The movies were adorable and admission was $11 or so for adults. $6 and change for kids 4 and up which we thought was fair especially for two new movies. The food was actually pretty darn good, very reasonably priced "junk food" and there was a huge variety! Veggie burgers, edamame and such for vegans! Really, life is what you make of it and we always make the best of any situation. It's the company you're with, not necessarily the place sometimes. This is the only drive in under 2 hours from Philly so it's really the only option on a whim and the only option for most which is probably how they are still around. It is really hard to understand how this place has been around so long with all of these obstacles. Mind you, ones that can easily and should be rectified. A little rearranging of screens and the addition of another food shack and restroom would make a world of a difference. read more

Still a legit spot; you can see two movies here for less than you can see one at just about any other theater in the tri-state area (at least). Not much more to add to my last review, but I did learn a few new things: -You don't need to be a selenologist, but check the waxing and waning when you're thinking of coming; near full moon last night was like having someone shine their high beams at us all night. -The $5.75 chicken parmesan sandwich, while being averagely tasty, was not a chicken parm. I'd call it a chopped chicken pizza steak, and there were bigger chunks of meat in my pulled pork sammy (still a spicy good steal at $4.25) -Gates open at 6:30, but if you want prime seating (parking?), you really only have to get there around an hour before start time. If you are earlier, consider bringing a frisbee, football, etc. to help pass the time (we got there at 6:15 and saw lots of families doing this while we twiddled our thumbs) -If you don't bring your own, they rent large resin chairs for $2 (http://chairs-guidesntips.blogspot.com/2011/07/resin-patio-furniture-or.html). I think drive-ins are a lot of fun. This place has 2 screens, but there were a few things I really didn't like about this place. The parking space was TIGHT. And you are so close to other cars, it's hard to see the entire screen. The concession stand line is a joke. I've been to another 2 screen drive in and they had 2 concession stands. If you charge to bring in food, have enough concessions to serve people without having to wait for a long time. Since this is the only choice around here, you don't have much choice. I just really don't like how jammed it is when you park and watch the movie. read more

I write this review with great sadness this place used to be one of my favorite things to do with the family. The food gor the price was good and the concession stand was a decent turn around speed. Not any more. Do to COVID you must place your order via the app. This is not all bad but it requires you to pay ahead of time and you can't really customize. Once the order is placed and your money has been taken they send a txt with acknowledging the order and giving a wait time. We were half way through the movie when the txt arrived. I now had to leave my car and stand in line with my back to the screen and the sound quality was horrible. When I got to the front of the line (about 15 minutes) they took my name and the real fun began. Now I had to wait again. Almost 45 minute while they made my shakes. The justification for mot making my shakes before txting. They might melt. Well they were fresh but my pizza was cold. In addition my onion rings were just burnt rings with no discernible onion They made no effort to accept responsibility for me missing most of a movie and subpar food. Probably the coolest movie night out experience you will ever have! I'm not sure why all the complaints about food/drink policy ... you can pay for a food permit and bring all the outside food your little heart desires! One reviewer argued that you can bring a bottle of water into sporting and concert events and should be able to bring a drink here, which for one is a lie! Any such venues I've been to always make you dispose before entering! The admission prices at the Drive In obviously cannot support a NJ business (a measly 5-6$ per adult, per showing). People pay double or more than that at the national chain movie theaters and then get hammered with $7 fountain sodas! So, either buy your food/drink at the Drive IN's concession stand, or secure a food permit ... and enjoy yourself! Most importantly, support your local businesses, especially one that is the last of its kind! read more

A wonderful Friday night adventure. Most of the downsides only add to the charm of one of last drive-in movie theaters in the country (bring bugspray, concession stand pretty crowded, hard to find a comfortable place to sit for a car of 4 people). The staff has pretty strict rules, like not bringing in outside food (they checked our trunk, opened a backpack in there, and peeped into the windows), and we couldn't leave and come back while waiting for the movie. Friends told us to get there early, around 7 PM (and the website says to get there when the box office opens, at 6 PM), to get decent seats. We definitely could've gotten there much later, at around 8 or even right before the movie started. We were watching Jurrasic World on opening weekend too, so it probably was one of the more crowded weekends. There was plentiful space at around 8, from what we could tell, although the concession stand lines get really long around that time. Cheap food. Bring a radio if you want to sit outside!! We rolled down the windows and blasted the sound, but it would've been much easier if we'd just had a source of sound outside. Great place for a date or family night! Double feature too, although many people left after the first one. read more

Not growing up in the states, the idea of a drive-in movie theater was something I saw in American movies and associated mostly with either the south or the midwest. Last summer I happened to have a conversation with someone who grew up in New Jersey and his recollections of how drive-in's were much more common at the time struck a cord with me and got me to do some searching. I eventually found Delsea Drive-in, the only Drive-in movie theater in NJ. A few weeks ago I finally got the chance to go here. It was a beautiful spring night, with a light breeze the day I came here. There are two screens and my boyfriend and I were late to the first movie being shown on our screen of choice. After parking the car I looked at the place with astonishment, it was like a different world, like time slowed down and all I could do was relax. We took the opportunity to go to the concession stand and get some food. For $8 per two features they pretty much don't make any money off the movies, as noted on their website, but only from the food. You can get a pass for $7 to bring your own food in there, or probably sneak it in. However, I suggest purchasing food there for two reason: 1) This kind of place needs as much support as it could get, I would hate NJ to lose its only Drive-in movie theater. and 2) the food is both cheap AND good. Yes I mean it. Not only is the food extremely affordable, and they have about 3 or 4 times the amount of choices as a regular movie theater, but the food actually tastes good and the service at the concession stand isn't bad either. Since we were late to the first movie and weren't paying attention to it, we didn't have to stand in the long food lines, and were able to sit on the benches in front of the concession stand and relax. You can also watch the movie on the other screen while eating. The movie quality was pretty good, we happened to park at a spot where the sound quality was not the best, but for the most part it was good. If you come here with your significant other you will realize that this experience can be very romantic. This place is a two and a half hour drive from my house, but I can't wait to come back here because it really is worth it. read more

You need a food permit and they made me throw away a perfectly good bag of popcorn. During a pandemic, they steal the joy out of a night out. Would have been happy to pay for a food permit 21$! But their website wasn't working and they said they only could take cash. Not exactly smart infection control and not very accommodating during a stressful time. Poor customer service. We love this drive-in! You can't beat getting 2 movies for the price of 1 regular movie ticket. We recently went and were lucky enough to get a triple feature! I love supporting concessions and went there hungry. I was impressed by their updated menu and couldn't decide between a couple things so I got them all! Very glad I did. Started with the wing dings and had a specialty cheesesteak with barbecue sauce and onion rings. This thing was loaded and delicious. I was so full i couldn't eat the other option i ordered. The roll was so soft and fresh and i couldn't believe to say i got top 5 all time cheesesteak at a drive in theatre. Well done guys! read more

The drive in is easily one of my favorite places to go for date night. Affordable double features and a reasonably priced and very diverse snack bar. Go here if you want to get dinner and 2 movies for the price of just dinner anywhere else. Also, for the fellow dads, the restroom has changing tables. read more

I love love love this place and I want them to succeed. But online admission is way overdue. They have got to fix the admission process. When we wait 50 minutes to get in, and opt to get dinner at the snack bar to keep them in business, then wait another 40 minutes, somethings gotta get fixed. We showed up for a double feature on time, but the line was so bad, we lost out on the first feature altogether. read more

If I could give it less I would. The movie started with sound no picture then picture no sound. The website say when ordering you can stand anywhere and you would receive notification when your order is done well that was untrue. This was the WORST experience I have ever had here. Rules state no smoking well that doesn't include weed. I will never return. Poor service Because the way they handle their business I didn't get to watch the first movie. read more
