STUPID to have to pay $45 to get through security with a regulary ID that hasn't been upgraded to a real ID. They don't do any additional screenings to ensure you're a REAL non-threatening person... u just pay $45 and then they look at your regular ID to check your name against your reservation... lol. BUT the airport itself is great! SMALL airport, security is a BREEZE and the TWO little gates are perfect. Allegiant flight was delayed and they put out waters and soft drinks for us so that was a nice gesture from Allegiant. The airport is just so convenient, I will gladly use this one ANY time I can over Columbus, just from the pure convenience aspect of parking and getting to the gate quickly. I will have to drive father and past Columbus to get to this one, and parking is $4/day more expensive, but I will do it every time!!!

With that said, if you're President's Circle or Gold Plus, you DO need to go to the Rental desk first prior to getting in your rental, there isn't a "Black Board" with your information waiting for you. Once you're done with the Rental desk, the shared parking lot is a short walk and you'll be in your rental car in no time. I don't know who controls the inventories, but I was put in literally a brand new Toyota Sienna XLE Minivan with 20 miles on it. it was a great ride, i've never rented a cat and got a brand new car! Returning the rental was a bit odd, they weirdly don't have trash cans at the return area and stated just to keep the trash in the car. bizarre.

This is one of those that does not have a staffed return aisle, so you park, get your gas/mileage, return the keys at the counter, and go. Note: There is NO gas station nearby. As a resident of Northwest Florida it's really nice to be able to say that I've found the best car rental location I've ever used, right here in the Niceville/Fort Walton Beach area. I've rented cars and vans from Advantage Rent-A-Car at the VPS airport over the past year. And I remember thinking to myself what a great experience it was, the first time I did business with them, and in every succeeding experience I've had with them. The customer service at the counter has been fantastic. The ladies who work there are always very friendly and helpful, they always offer me options that allow me to limit my costs while getting the best vehicle I can for the money I spent. Every time I've rented a vehicle from Advantage the cars and vans have been in top condition, and with low mileage. As someone who spends thousands of dollars a year on rental cars it's important to me to get good value and service. The Advance Rent-A-Car office at Northwest Florida Regional Airport is the friendliest, most professional business of it's kind I've ever had the pleasure to spend money with, and they've convinced me to look for Advantage offices wherever I travel.
