Located on the airport property, this Avis is a smaller outlet as is fitting for a smaller airport. I returned my rental car here that I had picked up at Panama City. This is one of those that does not have a staffed return aisle, so you park, get your gas/mileage, return the keys at the counter, and go. Note: There is NO gas station nearby. The closest that I found was the Murphy Express in Niceville. The nice gal at the counter said it was because this is federal property. read more

I would leave a good review but when we picked up our car we were getting a full tank and return a full tank. But when we drove away we only had 1/2 a tank. We drove back to the airport and went back INSIDE and told the lady, Lliona, who we had JUST spoken with. Lliona said she would make a note in our record that we only had 1/2 a tank and to return with 1/2 a tank. When we checked in today we even mentioned this to our check in man and he said it's in your record. No problem. Then we get the receipt and we're being charged for 1/2 a tank of gas!!! we have tried to call the number numerous times at AVIS Destin Airport and no one answers. This is terrible customer service to charge us for this when this was your mistake not ours. We came back and thought we had it taken care of before leaving and trusted you would make note of it like you said but we're still being charged over $50!!! not cool. We will be is disputing this on our credit card unless we can get in touch with someone to remove it. terrible customer service. read more

Imagine a world where a mother and her twin three-year-old children are involved in an auto accident. Trying to find a method of transportation to get home to Texas. This was my wife on Monday of this week. After searching and calling around, Avis rented her this vehicle. 1,583.00 for 3 days! They told her she needed to take all the protections, etc. to make it to Texas. To make this even worse, it had a check engine light on, a service the oil system soon, etc. Just thought this might be helpful to warn other parents, wives, families of this attempt to blatantly take advantage of you when you are stranded! read more

Cannot get in touch with anyone at the counter after leaving a personal item in the rental vehicle. They also charged us for gas, even though we were told to bring it back at half a tank and it was over half a tank upon return. Pitiful customer service. read more

We arrived on 04/16/22 at Fort Walton Beach Airport. The rental counter is inside of the airport located close to the baggage claim with a short walking distance. We made the mistake of waiting for our luggage first before going to the rental counter, then had to wait 40 minutes in line to check out our rental. We returned on 04/22/22 around 8am, and the car rental return process was one of the easiest! We simply followed the Avis signs directing us to the attendant. Once there, the attendant gave instructions, was friendly & made the return process very easy. When flying into Fort Walton we will now use Avis!!! read more

Kim at Avis/Budget was amazing!! Super accommodating and very friendly. She could not have provided better customer service! We made an online reservation with Hertz and they called us immediately to let us know they didn't actually have any cars available. Then we called Enterprise and they told us we could pick the car up in Destin for a 10am reservation. We showed up at 10:05am and were told to come back later because no cars were available. In the meantime we went to breakfast. During breakfast Enterprise called us to tell us no cars were available for the day. We then called Enterprise to see if there was a car available at the VPS airport location. They insisted vehicles were available and there would not be an issue showing up with a same day reservation. When we arrived at the VPS Enterprise location they told us that no cars were available and that 15 parties were ahead of us waiting for a rental vehicle. We then asked the Avis/Budget counter if they had ANYTHING available so we could go enjoy the afternoon vs sitting at the airport. Kim at Avis was very friendly and found a car for us to rent which we felt was a miracle at the time and for a better rate than the other companies offered! Thank goodness for Kim! She saved the last day of our vacation from spending hours in an airport and did it with a smile! My boyfriend and I have worked in customer service for 20 years and people like her deserve a raise. I cannot believe other companies let us make a reservation through a person over the phone (not via a 3rd party online) and then could not fulfill that reservation. Kim, thank you so much for your great customer service! You seriously made our day! read more

Zootopia comes to mind. The scene with the sloth at the banks and wily the fox who keeps you leading you astray. Let me explain. I travel all of the time. Preface - I'm also five months pregnant (so organically a little unhinged). Anyways , the normal routine is to get off plane, get a notification and/or when getting to rental lot (not desk) there is a board with your name and car spot. Just the only place in the world that could mess up this process ... beachtown, Florida. I get a notification saying to head to the preferred desk to pick up keys. So I collect my things, head to the lot and there is not such preferred anything. So have to walk alllllll the way back in (you know I'm angry strutting at this point) back inside to a line. I soooo wish I took a picture of this , maybe I can add later. But the sign literally contradicts itself of where to "queue" up (as if I want to queue up anywhere , just want my damn keys). I queue away though, second in line. 18 minutes later that I could be enjoying the beach I'm finally brought to counter (sucks for the 11 people the lines up after me). I try to explain to the agent that this isn't typical of Avis process, never had to use the main desk. She won't even make eye contact , says "welcome to a small airport. Not sure where you're from , but this is how it works". YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHERE IM FROM. I don't say this , because no sense talking to brick walls. So now I'm here venting my frustrations. The agent could've changed this by appeasing me for a minute or just listening to my concerns. Instead I left ten times more mad sloth lady. read more

Avis was the cheapest 7 passenger van. We got a nice Toyota Sienna that had room for 8 ppl, clean, new, filled with gas. They didn't have a lot of extra fees like Alamo and some of the other ones we rented from. We drove from Pa to Fl. Easy pickup and easy turn in. read more

staff was incredibly rude. Lady at the desk blatantly ignored more as I was asking her questions, and then proceeded to get in my girlfriends face to whisper to her (during pandemic). People next to us seemed to be receiving bad service as well, they looked really upset but idk what was going on. If you can book with someone else I would. read more

Do not rent from here. Currently still in line after waiting for 45 minutes. Hertz cleared out their line within 10. I don't understand what is taking so long.
