The flight sure wasn't cheap being last minute, but the company is paying so that's the deal! I've flown in and out of the little airport on Redding Ca, near where I live and this is a little bigger, but still a small airport. Not a ton of dining options like OAK, but then there no parking or crowd problems either. It does have a sort of rustic design to the terminal, but really do I care about what the place looks like, I just need to get ion and outta here a quick as I can. I was met easily by my contact person here in Elko, so that's way easier than like at OAK when I have to return. I had a decent experience here at EKO and I'd fly in and outta here again. EKO I like ... SFO forget it!

The monitor attendant also performs bag checks. The security screening conveyor belt for baggage comes out directly at the 1 gate. No dining options once you're through security into the small waiting area, only a drink vending machine. Within the lobby of the airport are the mini museum, artist displays, 3 booths for car rentals, and snack area. To answer a couple complaints by other reviewers, they do now recognize pre-check and have a separate line to the left of general boarding. Also, for late arrival flights, Enterprise re-opens during that time. Car rental places are closed for the 535am flight to Salt Lake, but they have a drop box for the keys next to the entrance, so no big deal. My experience was very good. I have heard in the past from colleagues who fly through here more often that when there are issues with the plane, you're kinda screwed.

I've never in my life cancelled a reservation upon arrival at a hotel. It was THAT bad. I arrived…read morein the late afternoon ready to settle in for a week-long stay. The young host greeted me warmly and check-in was smooth. He said he put me in "the best room" because I was the first to check-in. Then came so many red flags: the rank smell of the lobby, the exterior door that was unsecured in spite of its electronic lock system, the threadbare hall carpets. Then came the room - he'd said it was one of the best in that it had been recently renovated. Indeed, the carpeted floor had been replaced with faux wood, and it had clearly had a slap-dash paint job. It was easily 90 degrees in that room when I opened the door so the first stop: open the window and turn off the heater! The screen was torn, but it's winter so bugs won't be a problem. THEN...the fridge. It was off, so I bent over to plug it in only to find it plugged into a power strip (not the wall, a potential fire hazard). I flipped on the power strip, but the fridge didn't fire up, and there was a ... smell. Opened the fridge door and...that's all she wrote. It smelled so rank! I picked up my bags, went back to the desk, explained the situation and asked if that really was the best they had to offer. The poor kid at the desk said indeed it was. I called around town and found another room available for the week (lucky given it's a BUSY week here in Elko with the Cowboy Poetry Gathering in town), then returned to the lobby to cancel my reservation.

It is so wobbly that I am having trouble typing on my laptop keyboard while writing this review. My fingers keep hitting the wrong keys, because the laptop is swaying left and right so much. When I moved my chair to another location, the chair's arm rest pulled apart. The room does contain enough electrical outlets. The place does have free Wifi, but it is a little slow. This place also come with a indoor pool (closes at 12 midnight). The showers worked fine. There was enough water pressure and the water temperature was fine. The bathroom came equipped with the industry standard Sunbeam 1500 hair dryer. A good compromise between compactness, weight and heating power. It was able to dry my 2 feet long hair within a reasonable amount of time. They also offer complimentary coffee (no decaf) in the room. Overall, I have stayed at better places. The fact that nobody noticed the problems with the table and chair is remarkable.

The carpets are dingy, the elevators are best, the whole place needs a makeover, but if you're looking for a cheap, comfortable bed and pillows to sleep on, and not much more, this place is just right. The bed and pillows were surprisingly comfortable. The pool was great and warm (in the water. Outside, was freezing as they were doing some construction and had a massive fan blowing). The staff are friendly and helpful. You can buy some basic food items (milk, drinks, cereal) in the lobby. Was a relief to be able to get milk for the kids. There's pizza and Chinese across the street. It was quite at night even though I-80 was right behind.
