    Hole in shift cable bellow

    I had a very bad experience with Delta Breeze Marine. Possibly due to uncertified mechanics. My boat was stranded on the water due to no cotter pin in my shift cable. They also forgot to tighten the bolts on my water pump pully. They also returned my boat to me with a hole in the new shift cable bellow that they installed and they installed the exhaust bellow and gimbal bearing bellow incorrectly. I paid for a carb rebuild and it ran worse then when I brought it in. Lastly, my boat still dies in neutral, something I paid to have fixed. It was so bad I had to bring it to another mechanic because I did not trust their workmanship. The spark plugs did not look new either, I paid for new ones. They told me my boat was sea worthy, good thing I did not bring it out into the ocean.

    I have a restored 1989 Miller Boat w/454 engine and Berkley jet...I have an oil leak somewhere, is this something you could look at and possibly fix?

    I will say Ken is a straight forward guy and I do appreciate that. However, it was a disaster…read moreworking with him. He charged me top dollar to re rig a new outboard motor for my boat recently purchased and delivered to him. He called me when the job was done demanding I " come get the boat NOW because I need room!" Then he added " just one little problem, it doesn't run" He wanted me to pay him the full amount we agreed on too. He said it was a harness problem and take the motor back where I bought it. I showed him a video of the engine running at the dealer location including with the factory harness which they are required to do and he said "they probably used a different harness to cover up the bad one they sold you" Ken also clipped some wires he said " I didn't need" The dealer repaired Kens wire cuts and explained these harnesses are all plug and play and very simple to install. Ken also ignored the fact my battery cables were old and would also contribute to the engine failing to turn over. I shouldn't have paid him but did so thinking once it was proven there was nothing wrong with the motor he would man up and return some of my money especially after now having to fork over $800 to the dealer for repairs of his work .

Mel is always booked weeks in advance, and there is a reason for that - it's because he is very very good. After buying an older model boat and getting ripped off by a couple of unscrupulous marine mechanics (unfortunately there are a lot), I was referred by a friend to Mel. I am confident saying I've met my mechanic for life. Mel is hard working. I've seen him break a sweat hauling big engines over his shoulder or having to use a hand or electric Sawzall to cut out an uncooperative part of an engine. He is committed to doing to the job and doing the job right. Mel is smart. He knows out to think creatively when challenging situations arise with older tough-to-service boats. Mel is knowledgeable. There is nothing he hasn't seen. He has thousands of hours (over 30 years) of Marine mechanic experience and is certified in every meaningful marine mechanical skill. Mel is honest. He won't pressure you into doing work you're not ready for or don't need. He will give you an honest accounting of the facts and help you make the right decision for you, your boat, and your budget. He believes in the long-term relationship. I can't recommend Mel highly enough. It's a privelege to be his customer.

    BEWARE OF LENNY HE FAILS TO TELL THE HONEST TRUTH! This shop and Lenny were selling a used boat…read morethat I called about 1 day before going up there and wasting my day and time and I asked Lenny specific questions about the boat having any type of chips or spider cracks on the hull through text and over the phone and he said NO. Well I make way up to northern Cali which was 6hrs away and stayed a hotel the night before to go get the boat the next morning and when I get there I start to look around the boat and low and behold I find various crack and a big spider cracks on the hull and he also for got to mention the ceiling on the cockpit has mold and mildew and the cockpit smelled badly. He also forgot to mention the bunks on the trailer needed new carpet. This place needs to do a better job on being open and honest with their customers before they spend money on hotels and gas to go buy something that's not as described. Lenny you failed to do your due diligence and do a thorough walk through around the boat and notify customers what you're truly selling. Shame you on LENNY! You should have paid for my gas money and hotel for not being open and honest and wasting my 2 days driving up there. Lenny Next time just bend down and take pictures of the hull like I did and tell your customers what's really going on!!! Stay away from this place or they will make you waste your money. The owner or Lenny should reimburse me my $360 I spent on gas and hotel for not being open and honest!! Better business bureau will also hear about this. SHAME ON BUCKS!

I felt this way about Mello so I wanted to share my experience in this review and hope others give them a chance and come away feeling the same way I did. I stumbled upon this place during my search for a used wake surf boat. They were listing a used Calabria boat that I went to go check out. We were greeted by the owner Sally and we got to talking about wake surf boats in general. She spent about 30-45 min with us talking about her history, wake surf boats and telling us about the Centurion boats that she sells. Since I had never owned a wake surf boat before she gave us some really good info and insight into what makes a good surf boat and why Centurion was one of the top manufacturers. We left knowing we had to do more research which I did. Fast forward a year later, I ended up getting a used centurion wake surf boat. My point is I would have never thought about a Centurion boat until speaking with Sally, and we really appreciated her time and knowledge on the subject. We certainly don't have new boat money but we never felt dismissed or judged or made to feel less important because we weren't there looking at new boats. We also never felt like Sally was pushing us to Centurion or a specific direction. She was certainly highlighting why she felt the Centurion boats were the best, but I did my own research and eventually came to the same conclusion. I felt like the Centurion boats were high quality builds and they were the ones that started the whole wake surf boat build. I just recently dropped off my boat to Mello Marine to have them service it and add some features to it. It's not the closest shop (2 hrs away) but it's the one I felt most comfortable with and trusted. I first spoke with Luke who was great and helpful on the phone and I have since been dealing with Ricky. Everyone I have encountered at Mello Marine has been great, helpful, courteous, and professional. I have been genuinely impressed and pleased in all my interactions with this family run operation. So far, I have had great experiences with this shop and I have no doubt it will continue. I like to say Sally brought us back to Mello. Ricky made sure we're staying with Mello. To all the good people at Mello, keep up the good work and thank you!
