Even so, Coach Ian was kind enough to let my daughter join in with his daughter's training since we were already there. Coach Ian and the whole team were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made us feel comfortable right away. Even though it was only a quick 15-minute introduction, my daughter had an absolute blast! Many people worry that in a gym with large classes they may not receive individualized attention or feedback from coaches. However, that is not the case at Stockton Jiu-Jitsu Academy. The owners, Coach Rich and Coach Sraineth, are intentional about helping every student grow, regardless of class size. The boxing coaches, Coach Shane and Coach Pete, bring that same level of care and dedication to their classes. One personal experience I would like to highlight is my time in the Valley Fit program with Coach Sraineth. After coming off an injury, I joined the class weighing 187 pounds and struggling mentally. There were several movements I could not perform due to my injury, but without hesitation, Coach Sraineth modified the workouts so I could continue training safely without risking further injury. Because of her patience, encouragement, and intentional coaching, I now maintain a weight of around 160 pounds, have a healthier mindset, and feel stronger than ever. Let me add more info since it's so weird for my review to just disappear like that. I had a niece and nephew attend this place for a few years. At first things were great, then the owners got greedy and changed the timeframe of the classes as well as the quantity of classes you could take. They lost a lot of students because of this but those that were loyal stayed. My brother and sister in law contemplated on leaving since the classes were shorter and were only twice a week now instead of three times a week with an additional half hour. Oh, not to mention, THE PRICE STAYED THE SAME WITH THIS CHANGE. So not only were you paying MORE but got LESS. My nephew was on the spectrum and my niece was not. The difference in how they were treated was not what I was expecting. I came to a great amount of their lessons to watch but after seeing how the school was ran, couldn't bring myself to support this place. Obviously the decision to keep them there was not up to me but I couldn't stand it. Seeing the little black and brown kids get very obvious low standard treatment compared tho their Caucasian and Asian counterparts were incredibly sad. They are not at all prepared or even educated enough to handle children on the spectrum. The 'master' has lost his patience many times and tries to play it off but it's very obvious to those sitting and watching. Again, I would urge all black and brown parents to take their kids elsewhere.
