Where do I start! 1) Car damaged from the parking garage leaking efflorescence. Hotel said "not our garage, call the mayor's office" = no response. 2) Breakfast closes at 11AM on Sunday. My daughter was in line to grab some food at 10:45AM and was told to go away...breakfast is closed. 3) Mariott Envoy "pantry" was a nice bonus...but was never stocked they 3-days we were at the hotel. 4) Not us but our friends saw a mouse run across their room! 5) Positive: gym was big and clean. 6) Lobby staff was very nice. One of the worst and not sure how Marriott is allowing them to use the name. read more

I needed to book a room for 5 nights in or around Utica for business and decided to choose the Delta Marriott. I am (or was) a loyal Bonvoy member and tried to always choose a Marriott hotel when traveling based on the fact most of their hotels are cookie cutter in design and you know what to expect. Unfortunately, the Delta hotel in Utica is not one of those. This hotel is extremely dated and broken down. I had a late work day the first night and went down to their restaurant for something to eat. I got their around 9:40 and the kitchen was closed. They are listed to be open till 10. I understand why kitchens do that, so their workers can get out at 10 or 10:30. However, if you are going to do that..prepare for angry guests to complain about it. Next, I decided to check out their pool last night around 9pm. The pool didn't close until 10 or 11. The main entry to the pool requires you to walk through their main lobby and restaurant area which is very cold and slippery to walk on at times. So I went to the lower level where there is also access to the pool. I swipe my access card and enter a completely dark tunnel that is 50 to 75 feet long..at least. No lights whatsoever..at the end of the tunnel of horror you can see the lights from the pool area though. I thought maybe their was a light switch or motion lighting, but their was neither. There was no way that I could see to turn the lights on but I could see that there were lights on the ceiling however. I get back to my room to notice that my shower tub..yes their rooms still have tubs, has not drained from the previous nights shower. I advised the front desk and a repair person came and fixed it. After showering this morning and attending a very early morning meeting, I returned to another tub filled with water. I went to the front desk advising if there was another room and if there was, could I move to that room around 2:30pm so that I could attend the meetings I had before then. The front desk people advised that I had to move now since they were going to book my room with someone else. I thought, "I wonder if they are going to inform the new guest of the crappy shower?" However, I had no time to explore this internal question further since I had to move all my things to the new room which was two floors higher. This was already a huge inconvenience and it was compounded when I realized I had to now use their dreaded elevator for moving my items. They have two elevators but only one works. It is a six or seven floor building and I timed how long it takes to get the elevator and it is 45 seconds to 3 minutes. Depends on the amount of traffics using it. I spoke to a person waiting for the elevator and she informed me that she stayed here last year and the other elevator did not work then either. On top of all my frustration on having to cancel and postpone certain meetings because of this move, I had to wait exactly 17 minutes to use the elevator on one of my trips moving belongings because the hotel staff thought it was a good idea to scrub the floors and polish the mirrors on the only working elevator at 9am instead of 1am when it was less crowded. My new room is pretty much the same except of the fact that there is only one drawer for clothes and the chair for the desk is all ripped up. It is so ripped up that they are better off not having a chair and just leaving a folding chair in the closet in case it is needed. It is pretty embarrassing actually, I am going to have my daughter with me over the weekend and specifically booked this hotel for its high reviews and photos online. The bathroom for each room is 3 feet by 3 feet of floor space! The door when open takes up a good portion of that also. I will say that the front desk staff is pretty good though and so is their wait staff. However, the food is pretty bad. I ordered a medium rare burger and got a well done hockey puck with a stale bun and gross tomato on top for around $15. In summary, the staff is great, especially since they probably have to deal with a lot of guest complaints related to room issues. But overall, avoid this place if traveling to Utica. Let's see how the remaining 3 days of my stay goes. More to come:) So, it is Sunday and I depart in one day and I am trying to use my breakfast voucher, which is valid for two people. My daughter is sleeping in, so I went down to get some coffee. I was informed by the breakfast hostess/cashier that both parties have to be present two redeem the voucher. I advised that I just wanted coffee and that the other member of my party is not awake yet. I was told that my voucher would have to be redeemed to get coffee but I could bring a to-go box if I wanted. To-go box for breakfast? They don't even have microwaves in the rooms! My Kiwanis group came up to Utica for a few days of training. I thought this location was a great spot for us to be. It started with a very central location off the highway and walking distance to some stores and restaurants. The lobby was extremely large and bright. Plenty of sitting area and very easy maneuverability to unload and grab the elevator. There was also a lovely restaurant. We spent a fair amount of time around their bar. Great staff and plenty of room just to hang out. They had lots of tables and work areas to sit at and work with our computers... drinks in hand. The staff here was fantastic... They all were extremely helpful-happy. Happily we had no real issues, even the TV remotes worked well. Rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable with nice pillows. Nice size bathroom and an excellent shower that had hot water... Nice swimming pool, but all I could do was look at it as I had no time for a dip. There was even a children's birthday party happening there. Our meeting room was perfect and the junior ballroom was perfect for our private meals. Food was excellent and we had a nice variation from day to day. We were happy to have the grilled chicken, ravioli, sausage and peppers, mac and cheese. Multiple types of fish and good sides. They also had excellent desserts. This hotel went through a major renovation and they did a great job. Clean, inviting, good staff. KUDOs to the team at the Delta. read more

Stayed here due to the close proximity to the National baseball hall of fame Induction ceremony held at Cooperstown. The hotel used to be part of the old Radisson chain of hotels. My check in was Awesome! Demaris and Peter were friendly, courteous and explained all the amenities the place has. Parking is $7 a day but the fee is waived if you're a higher tier Marriott rewards member. The quick 411: Pros - 1. Parking lot attached to hotel. 2. Close to Cooperstown - Baseball hall of Fame. 3. Decent AYCE breakfast buffet - it's not free, but I had a voucher. 4. Pantry - 24 hour access to snacks and drinks for Gold members and higher. 5. Lobby has a huge open bar with plenty of seating to hang out. 6. The room water pressure in the shower is impressive. 7. Swimming pool. 8. Private Banquet and meeting areas available. Cons - 1. Well equipped fitness center, but the equipment is not properly secured to the floor and temperature of the fitness room was Hella hot, thermostat was broken. 2. Ice machine broken on the 5th and 6th floors for the 2 nights I was there. Note: Top floor is 6. 3. Bed and pillows in my room were too soft offering little support 4. The cable automatically shuts down, but when prompted to override shutdown it doesn't work. 5. When walking pass housekeeping in the morning the staff ignores you and gives off a standoffish vibe. 6. Pantry access - The fancy expresso and Cappuccino machine was broken and snacks and waters were not restocked in a timely manner. Stayed here for a night on Christmas and while service was good and the bed was comfortable, my biggest qualm was I had some extra charges on my credit card. I wouldn't have noticed unless I checked my statement, but once I did and called them they took it off right away. It was just a little strange and awkward and not the first time I've had this happen when staying at a hotel using credit card points. The bed was comfy and the check in process was pretty seamless, so if you're passing through Utica - this is definitely a decent choice. read more

Do not stay at this hotel! The first room I was given someone had already been on the bed, not sure what was on the beds back board, the door had such a gap that you good have gotten in with a butter knife. Room two - the thermostate was broken and there was no auto on the wall unit so the fan ran all night and it made a tapping noise everytime the heat went on. When asked for it to be checked and have the room made up that morning I returned to the fact that maintenance had not gone up and housekeeping dropped off towels, never made the bed or removed the old linens. When maintenance did come up they wanted to just unplug the air unit and leave me with no heat/AC. Room three - had the most disgusting hairdryer you would be repulsed! Only one elevator worked and in the morning you waited on average 12 minutes to get to the lobby, and the concierge room for loyal Marriott guests was a joke, why bother? The evening front desk staff did their best but they could not overcome the dirt and dilapidated condition of the facility. The restaurant's food was decent but so understaffed it was impossible to get service. One morning the buffet was literally empty. The general manager who was supposed to arrive at 7 am was not available on the first day or the second day I requested to see. When I demanded a phone call he had someone else call. I still demanded to speak with him and then when he did call he apologized and asked what he could do. Marriott points would have been nice but he never came through and when I sent him the photos I had he did not even have the courtesy to respond. I then called the corporate office that has the franchise and left a message for the Operations Manager for all of their hotels...thank goodness I didnt hold my breath. read more

I was very unimpressed with this hotel. Their website makes it look clean, nice and modern. While parts of the hotel are updated and clean, our room and much of the hotel was very dated, dirty and unappealing. Our room was dirty/old/worn. There was stained carpet, dirty walls/doors, a used dirty wash rag was hanging on our shower when we checked in. There was a bug on the bathroom floor. The pool area was probably really cool in the 80s or 90s but is very dated and old/crumbly now. We were torn between staying here or the Fairfield Inn and I wish we would have went with the FFI. What happened to this place? Annoyed right off the jump because when I checked in I asked if there was any room upgrades available since I am a platinum member. I was told no, they are "sold out". I found that hard to believe since it was a Wednesday and no events going on in the city. After I went to my room I checked the app and it said there were still suits available. So that was annoying. I booked here 5 years ago and had a pleasant stay. No complaints at all. This time, the room we got was just disgusting. Stains all over the rugs, one being particularly sticky. Food stains on the curtains. The room reeked like cheap aerosol cleaner. We all felt sick from it. Tv didn't work. Finger prints all over desk, tv stand. No microwave in the rooms. Was told that they have communal ones at the ice machine on EVERY OTHER FLOOR. So in order to warm milk up for my toddler, I had to take three young kids out to do it. Honestly that's so obnoxious. The website makes the place look updated and nicer than the typical Marriott. Far from that. I felt like we were staying at some cheap motel that you settle for when there is absolutely nothing else available. I have to give credit though, the beds and the bathroom were clean. Their wedding coordinator sucks at returning emails/text messages!!! She'll only reply when it benefits her. If you're not happy with something and you tell her... she won't reply but if it's something nice and benefiting her or the hotel then she replies. Makes absolutely no sense. Very unprofessional way to handle weddings. UPDATE: 3/20/23 I contacted the wedding coordinator (Val) to ask if we could be put on a payment plan to pay back our outstanding balance for canceling the wedding. I heard back from her ONCE and she informed me that I only had a month left to pay the outstanding balance. Thanks for sending us a reminder email about that. Her first email back to me said to let her know what we decided to do... so that's what I did. I emailed her back letting her know what we wanted to do and added a couple more questions as well. Do you think we got any response back from her?? NO. This place is a JOKE. Her secretary won't even answer my emails either. Check in was a breeze, staff interactions professional and so accomodating, hotel very clean, quiet, mattress and pillows were the best night sleep in a long time! Stayed here for a college conference, was greeted by a very rude front desk receptionist, unfortunately, she did not have on a name trage but I did recall her with a piercing. I browsed the shop for some chewing gum, and when I did not find the kind I liked, the receptionist rolled her eyes. Very unprofessional. The hotel itself was not the cleanest- needs some renovation and updating. I had another stay coming up but I cancelled my upcoming stay, as well as 4 other of my classmates when I sent them video footage from my room and they saw the condition of the room. To anyone looking for a friendly hotel, do not look here. Another example- I called downstairs to find out what time breakfast was over and they responded with a time and kept telling me what time check out was. From the moment I checked in with Quailee, I knew this stay would be one to remember. If you have status with Marriott, this is the hotel where every single perk offered matters (if available). They anticipated my every single need, and exceeded every expectation. They have a nice pantry for elite members that has espresso and snacks which are actually replenished unlike some hotels. They also have a nice bar and restaurant in the lobby. There used to be a hot tub they had when it was a Radisson but sadly that was gone. Also the rooms are a little run down but they did an impressive job remodeling an old hotel. My lock wasn't working for the bathroom and the front door has to be pulled shut instead of automatic. Honestly, none of this deterred from a simply amazing 5 star experience and stay. I've stayed from the lowest to highest hotels. Days inn to Fairmont. However I have to say, this was hands down one of my best experiences! Thank you Delta staff. You all are fantastic, and so is your hotel. read more

Underwhelmed to say the least, apparently it had been renovated very recently - but that leaves me wondering why it seemed to have seen better days. The room was dim, the tub's glazing was severely chipping, the bedside lights that are mounted on the wall were wobbly, and the sheets were wrinkled. Not trying to sound picky but the pictures online are deceiving, and all in all while the room was clean enough there is a lack of attention to detail which does not sit well with me. There is also little to no information provided, not about the town, nor the hotel itself. What time is breakfast? What is the restaurant menu? I wouldn't know and am unable to find any information about this on their website. It's more of a hotel for businessmen, I wouldn't come back. read more

In my humble opinion, the Delta Hotel by Marriot @ Utica is and will be a personal favorite of mine for years to come. From customer service, hotel accommodations, flexibility and going above and beyond, this hotel and it's staff blew the competition out of the water. From day one meeting Mr. Travis, he was easy to talk to and handle any requests i asked from avoiding chaos at the front counter for 30 of my close guests staying for the week, to being approachable and available throughout our stay. Once the week started, I noticed the hours of breakfast were outside of our normal work window. Without hesitation, once i asked K if it was possible to shift the hours to be able to accommodate my guests, he pointed me in the direction of Mr. James and Mr. David whom welcomed the challenge with open arms. Mrs. Jodie worked the bar like no other (Try her Old Fashion). And Mr. Peter seemed to always be at the desk welcoming our party with pleasantries and class. Very, very disappointed. Came here for a wedding on a Saturday, we booked 2 rooms for Friday and Saturday. Was told the wedding block rate was only for Saturday, Friday was regular price. Ok not a big deal, but strange. On the way up from NYC, we called the front desk (around 9 pm), since we were arriving after midnight. Reservation was confirmed and we were told there was a note on the reservation indicating we were arriving after midnight. When we get to the hotel around 1230, the front desk attendant tells us there are no rooms. Has some cockamamie story about the reservation system not working, rooms being out of service, I can't keep straight the stories they gave me. Evidently our reservations are in the system but they have no rooms available for us. They told us to stay at the Holiday Inn close by. Thank you to the holiday inn express which was very nice. We will be speaking with the manager and updating the review based on the outcome. It is utterly unacceptable to treat guests like this. Do not stay here, as they are incapable of the absolute most fundamental aspect of hospitality- provide a room to folks who have booked one. Hopefully management does the right thing and finds us 2 rooms, comps the room for Saturday and refunds us the cost of the Holiday in that we had to get for Friday. I've been to the Delta Marriott about 3 times. Twice for a ball event in the large ballroom. The lighting is horrible in this ballroom-it's like being at Walmart with fluorescent lights shinning in your face all night-obnoxious!! When we asked to have the lights dimmed-they couldn't do it The dance floor is like rubber, sticky and not really safe in my mind. The food is awful-pasta is over cooked with terrible sauce. Potatoes were like boiled cut up potatoes with no seasoning, beef full of fat and grizzle, bagged iceberg lettuce. A martini bar was provided for an hour in plastic glasses-oh and they were warm One bar set up-very crowded! I wouldn't recommend anyone plan a large event there-lots of other places to go. The hotel overbooked - so the king size room I booked was not available. When we went down to the desk and showed them we were supposed to have a king size bed, we were told sorry they were overbooked and we had to keep the room we were assigned. We were then offered the option to check out late the next day- which seemed ok-. The next day this rude little girl behind the desk told us we needed to check out - because they had a bus come in and they were overbooked again. I told her that wasn't my problem and returned upstairs to my room. Later when checking out- I got scolded for not checking out on time. The explained the we were supposed to have a late checkout and why. I was told by staff that a manger would call me to discuss pending charges for staying and that the person who checked us in wasn't supposed to give a late checkout. This hotel really seems to have a problem with overbooking. They also have a pool which was unusable. They rent it out for birthday parties- and the tiny pool was filled with 25+ kids and one adult. Kids were running back and forth down the tile floors leaving the hallway slippery. The hotel staff claimed that they don't rent for pool parties- yet the entire deck was covered in party supplies and around 10pm - we noticed that parents were picking up the same kids that were in the pool. Obviously the staff was either unaware of what was going on under there noses or they lie. Had our wedding there. The food was good and so was the staff the day of the wedding, but the staff I had to deal with before and now after hand were awful. I had to fight for everything in my contract. I signed a contract that gave me 31 rooms, they closed them off at 21. Had to argue to have the open the rooms again. Contract stated we could have 3 choices for meals then was told only 2, again fought to get our original contract. Finally after I gave them the final numbers they told me I owed over $4000 more than I thought. They were charging me $13 more a plate. We refused to pay extra. On top of that we almost had to pay $2000 extra since they lost one of our payments, luckily we saved the receipts. I gave her the set up for the room after I was told 10 to a table, that was never passed on to the staff so they set it up for 8 to a table and had to fix it, which caused a delay the day of of wedding. One of our family members wanted to pay for all our guests breakfast the next morning. He called the sales associate and set it all up. She quoted him $14 a plate and forgot to charge him and lost all of his information. So two months later she charged my credit card without authorization. Also charged $17 a plate instead of $14 that was quoted. Took over three days to have it straightened out and multiple phone calls. No one ever called me back I had to call 5 times before it was straightened out. Horrible service by the sales department, I would not recommend dealing with them which is unfortunate because the staff who worked the day if my wedding were great and so was the food. read more

Wow ! Marriott got it right with this hotel. Great amenities, clean comfortable rooms and the staff is terrific. Checking in at the front desk with the Manager and Damarisa (sorry I'm an awful speller) was quick, fantastic and so accommodating. Grabbed a dinner in the restaurant and then had a late night craving for their thick cheesecake with room service. Become a Bonvoy member (free) and they'll saddle you up with a gourmet breakfast (also free). Btw thank you for having tons of hot water and shower heads high enough to accommodate a 6'6" person. Recently renovated with comfortable beds and smart furnishings. Bathroom is a bit small but includes an wrap-around light around the mirror and a separate shower light. Large windows that allow for lots of light. Front desk and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. read more
