The water build up in the room and

The only reason this place is a 2 star was the staff. The staff was helpful and very courteous. I've been a Marriott member for over a decade and stayed at many facilities in the chain. This was by far the worst I have ever stayed. The room temp needed to be at 70 degrees, any lower and the AC would come on in the room, this was December with snow falling outside. The windows were no longer sealed causing water to build up on the sill continually. The bathroom was without a vent fan making steam build up in the room and adding to the moisture. The pool was over chlorinated with mold growing on the ceiling. The workout area was lacking when compared to other Deltas. The breakfast buffet, $20, was the same as the complimentary breakfast at other Marriott hotels where it is included. No complimentary coffee in the lobby. Overall this is not a place to stay unless it is the last option.

I stayed at this hotel for a weekend stay in Richmond. The hotel is located in downtown but in somewhat of the outskirts of downtown so there isn't much nearby. You will have to walk a couple blocks to get to a restaurant or to do any shopping. I arrived on a Friday and stayed until Sunday. You have the choice of valet or self-parking in the parking garage. Parking in the parking garage costs $15 per day. When I got to the lobby, I was greeted by friendly staff at the desk. Check in was pretty easy. My room was located on the 8th floor. The room was clean and nice although it is starting to show some signs of age. One thing that kind of gives me the creeps is seeing other people's hair around a hotel room and I did see a little of that on the bathroom floor. Other than that, the room was nice and comfortable. When housekeeping came around on Saturday, we asked if she could come back later because we weren't ready yet. Before leaving the room, I called the front desk to let them know we were leaving the room and wanted the room cleaned. We left for a few hours, came back, and the room was not done. I caught one of the housekeepers in the hallway and she said that she wasn't assigned to my room and would have to notify her supervisor. I eventually got a call from the housekeeping manager who told me that the housekeeper assigned to our room put down that we didn't want service and I explained to her that we asked her to come back and she didn't. They ended up sending someone to clean our room shortly after that. Some other things to note is that this hotel has a pool and restaurant, neither of which I got to utilize. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again.

Great open space and modern amenities and decor. Front end receptionist were helpful, friendly as they should. Housekeeping during our first day stay was efficient in tidying up the room. The 2nd day was horrible. Bathroom wasn't cleaned and amenities were not replenished. Had to call Front desk and housekeeping 3x before issue was resolved. Not good. Complimentary shuttle was a great way to get around within 2 miles from the Delta. Our experience was the shuttle was available but no drivers were. Short staffed? Maybe. Disappointing. Great location in downtown. Breakfast buffet is $16 basic eggs, bacon, sausage. coffee or tea. Did I mention about the noise? If you are a light sleeper then you are in deep sh*t.

It's okay! Not my go to for Richmond considering this location isn't that convenient. The food options in hotel and around are so limited. Probably the worse part of this hotel is no Valet Parking! You can pull aside and park temporarily to unload but you have to park all the way around the other side of the parking garage! ~ which makes it very inconvenient for me. The check in desk is also very slow. But rooms were clean and it's ok. But definitely going to go elsewhere when back in downtown Richmond.

Solid 3 star hotel. Was expecting the room to be nicer since the lobby seemed nice. Clean room, but unfinished as displayed in the photo. Fridge just on the ground, and the wall paper was lifting up. Strange coffee bar setup, and the lids don't fit the cups so I just had to leave it there. I think the rate was overpriced for weekday. A few spots walking distance for dinner

The only sign at the breakfast.

The breakfast is NOT FREE!!!! Everything leads you to believe it's a regular, free hotel continental breakfast... It is not good breakfast either. $40 for 3 people for a hotel breakfast buffet.. Attached a pic of the only sign at the breakfast. No clues to lead you to know that a breakfast that looks like a continental breakfast is actually $12 a head... The servers were very kind though. Our room didn't seem like it was clean. There were weird dried liquids on the bathroom door (which opens inward to the toilet so you basically have to straddle the door to sit ) Funk around the countertop edges, corners of room, shower, etc. For the price of the room here that's a little nuts. Stars for the comfort of the bed, pillows, & comforter! Views were nice of the river! When initially booking, my room was booked incorrectly, so I ended up having to spend 2 total hours on the phone trying to simply get a king room corrected as a double room as initially requested. The staff member I spoke to was condescending and argumentative. As multiple others have posted, our AC was horrible. It is the beginning of March and we were sweating in our room at night. Tried the thermostat multiple times with no luck. The location was where we needed to be but I wouldn't select to stay here again.

Guess I didn't want to drink tea..? (Just checked into the room. This was someone else's tea.)

Delta Hotels by Marriott is the new name for the Crown Plaza on Canal Street in Richmond's Financial District. Renovations are not yet complete -- a fact which likely would have steered me straight to another hotel. But that's not the only reason for the low rating. So, let's start at the beginning. BACKGROUND: I booked this hotel for a 5-night stay with a family member earlier in the week via the Marriott's website. I'll be living down in RVA for at least a couple months to start and this is my settling-in period before I transfer into a more permanent accommodation. In the special requests section of my reservation, I made sure to write "high floor, away from elevator, quiet room" to ensure a restful stay. CHECK IN: As the check in was in progress, I requested confirmation that my notes were acknowledged and accommodated. The lady working front desk blankly stared back and told me I had no special requests. I explained I inputted them online, and she said I must have booked through a third party. I said no; I booked through the hotel itself. I repeated my requests. A little bit of time then went by while I assumed she was trying to find a room that did fit my needs, but then she asked if I had found the note in my email in a not-very-nice tone. Like, what? You're accusing me of being a liar? That's not a good first impression. ROOM ONE: We were placed on the eighth floor (of 16) facing the river and highway 195. I immediately noticed the road noise and an incessant tapping next door. Also, the cleanliness was worrisome -- there was even trash in the coffee area. We called down and requested a quieter room. After more searching, we were placed on the city side, 10th floor. ROOM TWO: We walked in and noticed the room was filthy right off the bat. I'm talking trash and a half-consumed Pepsi in the fridge. A thick coating of dust all around the room. Spots on the pillowcases. Sticky floors. Sticky microwave. It was generally just gross. Now keep in mind, I'm gonna be staying down here a while -- I have loads of stuff with me. Moving from room to room already was a hassle, so we whipped out my Lysol wipes and gave the place a miniature cleaning. But the floors were still bothering us and the wipes didn't work that well on them. At that point, we called down again and asked to speak with a manager. We explained the situation and he was extremely apologetic and insisted on moving us again. There was a room available two over and he said he'd get housekeeping to do a deep cleaning there. He then popped up with a $50 voucher to use in the hotel restaurant for dinner while the room was cleaned. DINNER: Actually delicious. I'm pretty anti-hotel restaurants, but our server was awesome and the food was really good. I'd definitely recommend Quench for dinner. I'll write a separate, more lengthy review on that specific business listing. ROOM THREE: About three hours had elapsed at this point. We were exhausted. After dinner, we stopped by the front desk and the manager walked upstairs with us to the new room. We inspected it -- it looked clean for sure -- and he had left a cheese and fruit plate as an apology. That was really sweet. He then helped us move our bags over, which was appreciated and above the call of duty. I believe his name was Aristot and he deserves a raise. FIVE AM: I had some trouble falling asleep. You know when you're so exhausted that you can't sleep? It was like that. Eventually, I passed out. And then was awoken at 5 a.m. to construction outside. There is a Dominion Power construction site across the street, but I assumed they'd start a bit later than 5 a.m. But, nope, they were setting up for the work day (and reversing loud vehicles with beeping sounds) before the sun rose! SEVEN AM: A scraping noise began overhead. Like, a really loud scraping sound. As if someone was pulling up the rug or removing wallpaper. It also sounded like sawing at one point. I then realized the room above us was still under construction. And they seriously thought 7 a.m. was an acceptable time to begin work. Blink and stare. A FEW MINUTES LATER: I decided it was time to cut our losses. I called the front desk, spoke with Janet, who was extremely apologetic and so very sweet, and confirmed an early departure. She said we could have breakfast on the hotel, but I was too tired. It was an appreciated gesture though! GETTING READY TO LEAVE: The shower was cold. Like frigid. Yikes. CHECK OUT: A really pleasant experience. We met Janet and she was just as nice in person. We received a discount on our 1-night stay in addition to the dinner voucher, and we weren't charged for the parking garage, which is usually $15/night. I feel like if Janet had been the one to check us in, we might have actually been placed in a tolerable room from the get go. OVERALL: Pass for now. Perhaps it'll be better once construction chills out in the area and in the hotel. Whenever that may be.

This property seems to be losing their quality by the week.  Dirty Bathroom floors, dirty doors and walls. my rooms stinks and they put in an overwhelming amount of air freshener to mask it, that its hard to breathe. The bed sheet isn't clean and the bed wasn't made properly.  The bathtub faucet handle is loose and wobbly (after informing the front desk to have it fixed). The front desk staff is very nice, but the phone person I talked to seemed to be talking down to me, rather than being hospitable. Wouldn't recommend staying here if you can avoid it.  I'm switching rooms now and then finding a new place to stay.

Don't be confused by the name, The Valentine. This 19th-century home was purchased in 1898 by Mann Valentine Jr. who added a museum to the property and renamed it The Valentine. My visit was part of a dual tour with the John Marshall House (treason trial of A. Burr). The tour started promptly at the appointed time, and we began our tour of the home. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the Wickham house, the family and the history of that time. Her tour was much more than a simple recitation. She brought the home to life through her descriptions, easily fielded questions and encouraged discussions. We all gained a clear picture of life at that time as well as the role that John Wickham played in history. The house is kept in beautiful condition with many examples of how the family lived, from clothing to imagined food out on the table. I was truly impressed by the beauty of the home. After the tour we were able to meander through the museum that is a part of the property. It is an interesting stroll through Richmond's history from the early 1800's to the present. I would definitely suggest a visit here if you are a history fanatic. Check out your options for parking before you get here (I parked in one of the local garages and spent about $15).

Food wise - you MUST get the burrata e focaccia. Before heading to the airport we literally came back and ordered another one to go because we were all still craving it. For back story, we were a party of 19 (yes nineteen, so sorry!) and we accidentally made the online reservation for Saturday instead of Friday like we planned. We called the day of, and the host was so so kind and helped us still come on our friend's birthday Friday evening. Even though it was pouring all weekend, we had an awesome table set up out on the back patio which was covered, decorated, and had heaters going. It was so beautiful and comfortable despite the cold front. The service was phenomenal. Extra shoutout to Patrick and all of the bussers/food runners who helped our table. He gave us lots of food and drink recommendations and did not disappoint! Again, the burrata was amazing. Our favorite pizzas were also the pear & proscitto and the stakki Jo (with added hot honey). Will definitely be back if we are ever back in Richmond! xx

Despite having a…read morereservation and the restaurant having numerous empty tables, the host actually checked our IDs to prove we weren't lying about our name. I've had reservations in major cities around the world and have never been ID'd for a table--especially not at a casual spot like this. From there, they automatically tacked on a 20% service fee for essentially a DIY dining experience. Once the server dropped off our food, she disappeared completely, leaving us to fetch our own drink refills and making the automatic markup feel entirely unearned. The food was just as low-effort. My bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich was basic and came with no hot sauce options. My daughter's kid's spaghetti had a watery sauce that slid right off the noodles. The pear and prosciutto pizza was basically a lackluster flatbread, and it even arrived with a torn piece of a Piancone wrapper sitting right on top that the server completely missed. To finish it off, we had to switch tables immediately because our picnic table was filthy underneath, complete with bugs crawling up through the wood planks. Between the weird host interrogation, poor hygiene, lazy food, and unjustified fees, I'd highly recommend spending your money elsewhere.
