Sonja is amazing! I worked out with personal trainers 1:1 in the past and also tried going to the gym to work out on my own but Sonja created a great mix of the two. Personal training sessions can become very expensive quickly, especially if you are doing it on the regular basis. Working out on your own is definitely cheaper but I could never find motivation to do it consistently. I'd go for a couple of months and then stop. Sonja's workouts are created for each person individually and you end up doing a completely different routine from the other 3-5 people, who work out at the same time as you do. You are still getting an individual approach and motivation from Sonja but you have other people who work out with you at the same time. Sonja does a great job keeping an eye on everyone working out at the same time. I really enjoy these workouts!

A year and a half later doing semi-private training at Demco Fitness and I could probably write a five-page essay on how much I love this place but I'll try to keep my focus. I'd done private training in the past, still wanted the programming (i.e. my workouts mapped out for me), but didn't feel the need for 1:1 training, so the semi-private option was perfect for me. It's normally ~5 of us in the gym at a time each working on our own program with the supervision of one trainer. I love the personal attention Sonja (the owner) gives to programming. The exercises/sets/reps I'm doing are completely tailored to my goals. Each program is 4 weeks long so I never get bored. And if I change my goals month to month, I let her know and she adjusts. For example, when I decided to run a half marathon, she customized my program to cater to running. Timing-wise, there are lots of options, 7 days a week. I normally go early mornings and workout with Sonja. I can't tell you how many times I've said "Sonja, I don't think I can do that" and she encourages me to prove myself otherwise. Her passion, attention to detail, and knowledge has been the foundation for me to improve my strength, form, and overall wellbeing. Even when I go outside of my normal schedule, I have the utmost trust in the other trainers - Conor, Selina, and Zach are all high-caliber trainers that each bring their own incredible energy and knowledge base to the gym. I know whenever I walk into Demco Fitness that I'll be in good hands. Whether you're there to get a sweat on, hit a lifting goal, nurse an injury, or run a marathon, you're in the right place. But it's more than just a gym. It's a community of supportive, welcoming, hilarious people, not to mention killer music and the occasional neighborhood dog that stops by the door to say hello.

POV: my trainer was based her for a couple of years so visited NW strong more than my home gym but…read morewas never a member here. NW strong is a great option for a no-frills weight-lifting focused gym in Belltown. This place is stacked to the brim with equipment. There are as many squat racks as you can fit in a space like this (9?) and about a dozen benches and tons of options for dumbbells and kettlebells. More than you will see in many much larger gyms. There are also other kinds of equipment like air bike, rower, ski erg, treadmill, bands, sled, TRX straps, and I'm sure some things I'm forgetting. It's a compact footprint and Trevor has done an outstanding job efficiently equipping it to the max. The trainers I've observed here have all be high quality with their own unique style. There is also more of a community here than I think you get with some of the bigger gyms around. From a female perspective I will say that the clientele here is mostly men. There have been many times where the gym was packed and I was the only female present. That said, people here are nice, and respectful overall and it's a good spot to work out. If I lived closer, I'd consider being a member here. I would say the two downsides that may or may not impact you personally are that there is no locker room or shower to speak of (typical commercial building bathrooms shared by multiple tenants in the building) and the space would benefit from a few fans or stronger AC. This is fine 10 months of the year but it can get very stuffy and humid in the hottest days of the summer.

READ ME 1. Trever,…read morethe owner, is very responsive and kind. 2. The gym is very clean, especially since Trever uses meyers cleaning solutions (smells great!). 3. The gym has a wide varied of equipment and free weights. 4. The gym is well-lit 5. Music selection is good, but not too loud if you're using headphones Conclusion: My girlfriend and I are from out of town and come from a private gym. NorthWest Strong, especially Trever, were very welcoming and accommodating when it came to having us train to prep for our powerlifting meets. If I ever come to Seattle again this would be our "go-to" gym for training. Thank you Trever and NorthWest Strong for having us .

This is my first time to this gym location which is in another side of Seattle about 1.5 miles away from the hotel I was staying in Pioneer Square. My hotel's fitness center was under renovation and when I seen the temporary fitness center, I walked out. I've been to another 24 Hour location in the suburbs of Seattle a few years back, but that would have been a long stretch. Downtown Seattle's gym was lacking a welcoming feel upon check-in, the girl working the front desk failed to acknowledge members walking in or exiting. The gym floors are clean, it smells fresh and sanitized, most machines and equipment are the same as other 24's, but this one had everything equipped for upper body groups. That day I went to work out happened to be leg day. It wasn't a leg friendly gym. Both ground floor and the basement couldn't receive cell signal and the WiFi was not connecting. But at least I had downloaded music and podcasts on my phone to keep me energized. When it came to cardio, there was an abundance of cardio machines. My favorite machine is the StairMaster. Almost all of them were out of service, the only 3 that were operating was occupied with 3 people. The only areas I didn't use were CardioX, swimming pool, and Spin Cycle room. I know that parking is available, because there was a parking validation machine at the front desk. But I honestly don't know why this location is closing on January 16, it seems as though there is a lot of foot traffic during the evening hours as a lot of people are coming from work or school. There are many apartments and luxury condos in the area. But where will the nearby residents go? The next nearest 24 is about the same drive time north of downtown but I'm not sure if I badly need a workout on these short business trips.
