Third hill winery is the definition of charming. It smells like a pine box as soon as you walk in the door, and resonates country-chic. All of the wine was good, and the owner was so sweet. My group enjoyed chatting with her and learning about how the winery was built. The tasting was reasonably priced and there's lots of outdoor seating around to enjoy a bottle with friends. I highly recommend this winery for anyone in the area!

Nice new place in the Shenandoah Valley! Most new wineries need time to feel their way, but DeMello is starting strong. Right now they are sourcing grapes locally, but they do have 6 acres planted. They'd have more, but recent winters set them back quite a bit. The first thing you notice is how gorgeous the tasting room is. Apparently being a wine maker isn't enough; Mr. DeMello is also the architect. Great views of the valley from the patio, both upstairs and downstairs. Now officially one of my favorite tasting rooms in the valley. I came in concurrent to a crowd so I didn't get much 1-on-1 time with the owners; but I definitely tried the wine. 2014 Traminette: I'm a fan of this grape. I liked the boldness, although I prefer my wines dry. 2015 Chardonnel: Another winter-hardy hybrid grape. Fermented mostly in steel with some oak; I thought it was OK. 2014 Viognier: Honeysuckle notes; I'm not a big Viognier fan but this was OK 2012 Chambourcin: Fruity, made in more of a dry style 2012 Cab Franc: Now we're talking! More spicy than bell pepper. Dfferent take on the grape, but I liked it. 2012 Triage (Red blend mostly of Cab Franc and a bit of Syrah): Liked it, but definitely on the lighter side 2012 Cab Sauvignon: Smooth, nice dark fruit. 2012 Petit Verdot: Not quite as intense as other PVs, but still good.

Cannot say enough great things about our experience here - the grounds are beautiful and the owners were fantastic. Unfortunately, the hours posted to google were wrong so we showed up fifteen minutes before closing. They happily poured us a glass each (need 20+ minutes for a full tasting) and allowed us to explore the beautiful ambience and grounds. They also gave great recommendations for other restaurants and accommodations in the area. We will absolutely return for a longer stay. Word of advice - Check the website/facebook or call ahead for accurate hours of operation, as google definitely led us wrong!

This place was amazing! They had the best Gluhwein I've tasted this season (hot red wine steeped with honey and cinnamon and cloves). This winery is basically a big house with a super rustic feel throughout. Extremely cute decor and comfy places to sit. The Christmas tree is so big it goes from the bottom to the top floor and you can still see it where you sit upstairs. $23 for their most affordable bottle of red, it was smooth with a unique taste. I would definitely buy another bottle. Where we sat upstairs we were graced with the wonderful voice and acoustic guitar of musician Jason Masi. He filled the room with emotion and good vibes. I will definitely be back!

Lovely interior and lovely owners. We imagine it's great in all seasons, but we were lucky enough to be here for the first snow of the season. Decorated for Christmas and gorgeous. Cheese plate and chocolates were nice accompaniments. Saw some folks bring picnic baskets. That'll be next time. :)

Beautiful view of the sunset! September 2017

Attended late last summer (September) on the weekend and had a great time! The owners were awesome and welcomed us as their own! Awesome views at sunset and close to Luray Caverns and Shenandoah Park. Highly recommend!

Beautiful Winery the interior and exterior make for great sipping and no matter the weather...the views of thr hills are beautiful...sit around a fire ring on the deck or inside at fireplace. Order the cheese tray and visit with the owners if you get a chance wonderful people.

Fabulous place, and if you love big bold reds, you will love them, if you are looking for sweet wines, don't bother.

A lovely spot in the valley. I appreciate it's close to major roads but it's not loud or anything. Staff is very friendly, too!

The reds were really rich and I loved the Cab Franc with the black pepper spiciness.

This was my second time and Nikki's first, and we pulled up READY for great wine, good vibes, and a cute little winery moment . From the second we walked in, the staff greeted us like we were long-lost cousins coming home for the holidays . We did a guided tasting at the bar -- six wines for around $15 (a STEAL, okay!?), and the fun began. Nikki's fave: Bourbon Barrel Chambourcin -- the star of her whole life that day 2019 Chambourcin Oaked Aged 36 months in new American oak... listen... this wine came in sweet on the nose, fruity on the tongue, and creamy on the finish. Light, playful, and honestly kinda flirty. Perfect with stuffing or honestly anything because she was drinking it like it was juice . My fave: 2018 Petit Manseng -- MY GIRL!! Light, dry, citrusy, pear-y, pineapple-y and giving "I'm that wine" energy. Complex but still smooth... basically the Beyoncé of the tasting. We even got to try some wines that weren't on the list, and let me tell you -- 90% of their wines were hitting. Like, not one flop in sight . But the BEST part? The vibe. The service. The "you're family here" energy. It literally felt like sipping wine at your cousin's cute countryside home you never knew they had . 10/10 recommend! Go, sip, laugh, vibe, repeat!

They offered both tastings and flights, but my friend and I both chose a glass of Rosé. The staff member had described it as crisp and dry, but it was still a bit too sweet for my preference - not terrible though. We sat on the rocking chairs outside and admired the nice view of green fields. I think they were setting up for a private event in the meantime, because people kept showing up with their own trays of food, and a whole bunch of children and dogs. Overall, we liked the ambiance here but the wine wasn't especially memorable and service was lukewarm.

This place is serene and extremely peaceful and I could probably just sit outside and take everything in for hours. There are a few boardgames to play as well. There aren't a lot of seating inside, but during the daytime, the place was very laid back and not overcrowded. There are no marked parking spaces, but people typically park on the grass and there is ample space for so many cars. The interior of the main building was very simple and "bare bones" but had a homely charm to it and the lovely woman who served our flights was such a gentle, warm person who complemented the peacefulness of the place! My friend and I ended up buying our own bottles of wine and my fiance absolutely loved the Barren Ridge's Touriga wine that I got for him! Will definitely be back to bring him the next time around! Just a great place to take a step back and enjoy some wine!
