Inside, lots of gorgeous hardwoods proliferate. A fireplace adorns one end of the tasting room. Lots of seating throughout - with options for games such as Chess and Cribbage. There is also seating outside out back - but it was too cold to sit outside the day we visited. I tasted all seven beers they had available that day. I enjoyed most of them. Nutters Northern English Nut Brown Ale (6.7% ABV) (4 stars on Untappd) Eau du Cologne Kolsch (5.8% ABV) (3.75 stars on Untappd) Stacked IPA (7.7% ABV) (4.25 stars on Untappd) Short and Stout English Stout (4.9% ABV) (3.5 stars on Untappd) Over the Moon Pilsner (5.6% ABV) (2.25 stars on Untappd) Santa's Little Helper Amber Ale (9.0% ABV) (2 stars on Untappd) Smoke E. Bar German Rauchbier (6.6% ABV) (2.25 stars on Untappd) The staff was very nice! Can't wait to come back! #ShotwellRunBrewingCompany

My wife and I decided to take the trip out here from Alexandria for a nice weekend getaway…read more Oktoberfest was going on at the brewery and an apple festival and several other events were happening that weekend, so we weren't able to find lodging close by. However, we decided to still go down and just make it a day trip. I am glad we decided to still go down. Everything was amazing! The views, the wine, the beer, the food truck, and the people! If I could give our experience six stars I sure would! I had never had a wine flight before. Those mini wine glasses were super cute! I was told that this was their first yield of bottled wine since they planted their grapes a few years ago. For them to be new, it was fantastic wine! And then we had the Oktoberfest flight. All of the beers were crisp and had very distinct flavors. Their descriptions fit them all to a T! We were very pleased with both flights to say the least. Since it was Oktoberfest, they had pony rides (we just rubbed her and gave her a little love), a food truck, very nice decorations and live music. I'm glad we got to experience the first Oktoberfest fest there. It will not be out last time visiting. If you want to meet great people while sipping amazing beer and/or wine, do yourself a favor and visit this spot.

We stopped here on the way back to D.C. and what a lovely farm brewery! For some context, my…read morehusband's family are the "original" 4Js - Jared, Josh, Jane and John so of course we HAD to check this place out. There was a huge outdoor space for kids and families complete with some games and picnic tables. We sat in the closed-in porch area and were treated to some live music on a Saturday. The beer was solid - hubby. and I split a flight and enjoyed the marionberry wheat and Sweet Nala stout. We liked their logo "Soil to Suds" and bought a few shirts - they even had a bunch of shirts on sale for $5! Great place for family time at a brewery.

There is seating both inside and outside. The inside is a bit stark on the inside with drywall on the walls and ceiling. I woulds have loved if they had lined the walls and ceiling with something like pine. I've sampled a number of their brews. My fave brews thus far are two ales: - Snafu (Strong Ale) - The Donkey Calleth (Imperial IPA) They have a small popcorn machine for snacks (which is free) - but other than that, as far as I can tell - there are no other food options. The folks who run the place are super nice. There is no WiFi network and they currently do not accept Apple Pay. #FourJsFarmAndBrewery

We knew nothing about this place so it was such a great surprise to pull up to such a cute place. I am not a big beer person but i go with the flow. But that didnt matter as soon as i asked what kind of beer do you have for the girl that doesnt like beer the owner said well i have some lemonade here i can make you a shandy. SOLD! thank you for making your none beer liking customers right at home in a brewery. The brewery itself was so cute and cozy and as soon as we walked in i said someone is making chilli and i need it. So we ordered that and the picnic basket. Was blown away because both choices were exactly what i needed. The chili was so yummy and a little bit spicy. The picnic basket had this dip that i could not stop eating even after the bread and the crackers we used to dip were gone. This brewery has board games and what looks like space for live music that would be perfect chill night out. My friends all tried beer and they all liked it. I know nothing of hops and what not so i have nothing to add here but my shandy was great and if we didnt have other stops to make i would have definitely would have a second. if you ever find yourself in virginia and in need of a nice place to hang out, watch the game or if you ware craving chilli, head here everyone is nice and welcoming and you will get good food and drinks

They have a Wednesday burger night thing going on with delicious cheeseburgers and sides. The beer was also great and they have a pretty decent selection on dark beers. I particularly loved the beer called "cock and pull it" and the oatmeal stout they had. They have limited hours now due to COVID-19, but definitely worth checking out and interacting with locals.
