Best Mom and Pop Pizza joint that we have had the pleasure of finding in a while! This is like a grown up Cici's Pizza, but with a real crust, fresh ingredients, and impeccable service. Clean restaurant, kid friendly, and it even has a southern charm. We make a few trips to Asheville each year, and this will be a welcomed stop on the way. The have a fresh salad bar and well maintained pizza buffet. If there is a pizza you like, but it's not On the bar asks the good people at Dempsy's, and they will make it for you. They have a few specialty pizzas that they make that are definitely worth trying. Whoda thought about a pimento cheese pizza?!? Delish! Excellent and fast! The stars don't lie!!! Stopped here on our way to Nantahala. Saw the high star rating and said let's do dinner. Called ahead for a large pepperoni. Huge parking lot.... packed!!! But...while getting my takeaway pizza tonight, you can't help but see that none of the kitchen staff wears masks, most of the customers are maskless and the buffet has lots of folks picking up slices with the same spatula. Great ranch. Thick and garlicky. I would honestly just come here for the salad bar. The pizza was just okay. The cheesy garlic one was what I liked the best. The sausage you couldn't even try because it had been sitting out for too long so it didn't look appetizing. Mind you we came in at 8pm on a Wednesday night and if people aren't eating it then they aren't going to replace it. I get it. But after awhile of sitting out just chuck it. The spaghetti/lasagna was actually really good. Not dry and flavorful. The biggest problem is labels here. Thought the soup was potato because that's how it looked but then I got a whiff of fish. I thought It was a clam pizza or shrimp pizza nearby. No. The soup was actually clam chowder. If you have allergies then this could be a big issue. I chose 3 different cheese pizzas because I didn't know what was what and one actually had jalapeño juice on it. Not something I'd get. Not labeling could lead to a massive lawsuit. Also, the girl wiping the Parmesan and red pepper bottles at the table would use one rag and wipe all over it then throw the rag on the table then pick up the other rag from the table and wipe it again. That grossed me out while eating. Dessert pizza. The cinnamon apple was delicious and warm. Very sweet. Milk would have been great. I don't even know what the other kind was. Maybe cheese? It was hard and didn't really have a flavor. The chicken wings tasted old even though they were coming out a lot. The only thing that actually tasted fresh was the salad bar. read more

We have heard about this place for a long time. All good. Some friends of ours, who live in the area, invited us to go one night, so we took them up on the invite. It was packed, and reminded me of something like a CiCi's, but their quality was much better, and they had pizzas that I had never had before. The cheeseburger pizza was awesome! Definitely not one of my favorite pizza places. We got the buffet and I personally prefer cici's or pizza hut's buffet to this one. The salad bar only had shredded lettuce; I was excited for the wings but they were way overcooked and they only had teriyaki sauce, not even buffalo; and the pizza wasn't anything special either. It was really greasy and one of my pieces had something stuck to the bottom that should not have been there...Buffet was also more expensive that other places; overall I wouldn't go back again. read more

I've been going to Dempsey's since they became Dempsey's (and even before that). I've never had a bad experience there. The staff is so incredibly friendly, and you are usually greeted by Mr. Dempsey himself! The sweet tea is fresh and so great! And now the food, oh man! They have the BEST pizza and salad bar. Nothing beats a salad from Dempsey's. My favorite pizza is the BLT pizza with the taco pizza a close second. The chocolate chip pizza is a staple and I'm pretty sure everyone is obsessed with it. The chicken wings are on the small side but they have a lot of them on the bar so you can take as many as you need. I don't live in Clinton anymore so I can't go as often as I would like, but my family does make special trips back just to eat there. read more

What they serve here IS "round" and has marinara spread on it, BUT it's more akin to cardboard with sauce than anything really edible. BUT, it's ALL you can eat SO the locals think they're getting a "deal"...I've eaten all-you-can eat for less than 10 bux and got FOOD....This is just filler.... Even for seniors day at 7 bux, this isn't much. The Salad bar is decent however AND I'd suggest that oldsters might get close to their money's worth there. You'll probably say, ALL my reviews are bad. I must hate this place?....Food and Quality of Life, I LOATHE it. There are not many restaurants left that accommodate you well after their designated closing time. However, after a very long day, and an even longer drive, we were greeted at the door of Dempsey's by a man with a smile and a very kind heart. We had arrived around 15 minutes after closing time, but after we explained our situation he welcomed us in, and even prepared a fresh buffet full of pizza, and our favorite wings. We had a party of five, and four of us ate at least three people's worth of food. He never complained, never rushed us, and he walked us to the door thanking us for our visit. As if the customer service wasn't enough to love about this place the food was wonderful. Every pizza we tried (which was all of them!) was fresh. There was a large variety from all vegetable to all meat, thin crust and thick crust, and a small but appreciated variety of dessert pizza. The wings were small, but the flavor was big and we managed to clean out the bar three times. No, Dempsey's is not gourmet, but it is family oriented, welcoming, and down right delicious. You can't judge a small family style buffet on the same scale you judge a gourmet restaurant. Give credit where credit is due!
