Our first visit to this restaurant, at the direction of my friend, who is a local. Dempsey's did not disappoint. The food was awesome- we had a muffaletta, the beer was cold and the service was efficient. The value was on par with the food quality, service and the restaurant setting is quaint.. Definitely, will be returning when we travel through Kiln, Mississippi, again.. Highly recommend!!!

    A crawfish Christmas tree!

This is only for the food & wait staff. Not sure what happened or went wrong, but our dinners took over an hour & 40 minutes to come to us. If the food hadn't have been outstanding, I would've given them a 4. The waitresses & busboys are really hustling in this place. It was Jam packed full of people. The wait to be seated wasn't too bad. Maybe 20 minutes because those busboys are all over it. You'd put a plate down and it was grabbed. You looked out of a drink & it was fully. Our waitress was all over the place too. She may have been running, but it looked like a fast float. I had the filet with Gorgonzola and crabmeat. Outstanding & cooked perfect. My friend had stuffed flounder. It was full of crab & shrimp. He liked it, but not like my filet. Great dinner. Great service. Just slow out of the kitchen. The place is much like an oyster shucking Louisiana oyster bar & grill. It's just on the other side of the Mississippi and tucked away in Kiln. I'm glad we went. Next time, I'll go earlier. It was just a long time to be at dinner after 2 hours. Other than that, everything else was fantastic.

    12 oz ribeye

Delicious , great customer service, chef came to our table and asked how is your steak? Best steak ever , no sauce needed . My husband ordered the Bayou Chicken -so good .

Onion rings are perfect. . Breading that doesn't fall off . . Seafood is delicious. Coleslaw has a heavy celery taste, not sweet We got there before church services were over so no wait for us, but people started piling in afterwards

    Bread Pudding with whipped cream

Since 2011 when I first moved to Mississippi from out west I have been looking for a decent steak house. I've finally found it at Demspey's with their 12oz ribeye; it was deliciously juicy, easily cut like it was butter. The sweet potato waffle fries were sublime and did not need any condiments it was so good. And don't get me started on the bread pudding... knocked it out of the park! The service was outstanding, especially considering the size of the crowd. It was packed, but our server, Brittany, never missed a beat, and she was terrific helping us to decide what to eat by answering a lot of questions. An empty dish was swiftly whisked away almost as soon as we were done with it. The ambiance was a little loud, but otherwise quaint with all of the seafood style decor. Oh, my wife said her New Orleans Shrimp and Lemon Berry Mascarpone were delicious too, what little she allowed me to sample, lol.

    Mac & cheese

To go food order extremely disappointing. The tiny amount of crab claws for what I paid is unreal! They put a lot of lettuce underneath so it appeared to be more. The Mac & cheese is usually always a win and that was all dried up and hardly any cheese. My side Caesar salad was a house salad instead of Caesar but they just dumped parm cheese on top and gave me the Caesar dressing. Overpriced fail, won't be back .

Average at best. And I really mean AVERAGE! Don't expect anything more than bland food covered with cheese or a mediocre sauce.

The last time I went (a couple of months ago) there was only a 3.5% charge for using cards. Cash wasn't charged a fee.

The service was good, food was wonderful, ambience lovely although crowded together without many tables that offered privacy but charming nonetheless.

Some meals feed you. Some meals fill you. But every now and then, a meal grabs you by the taste…read morebuds, smacks you across the face with flavor, and makes you say, "Lawd have mercy, this is what eating in Louisiana is all about." That was our night at Gallagher's in Slidell. We started like locals do: I had the chicken and andouille sausage gumbo, while my grandmother went straight for the turtle soup. Both bowls hit the table with the kind of depth you only get when somebody's been stirring that pot with love, patience, and a wooden spoon seasoned by a hundred Sundays. That gumbo had the holy trinity preaching, and that turtle soup could have converted a non-believer. Then came the knockout round. For me: an 11 oz filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes. For my grandmother: pampano fish with mirliton stuffing. Now listen, I've had a lot of steaks in my life. But this filet? This filet was different. This filet was butter-kissed, seared on a 500-degree plate, and cooked so perfectly it practically sang "When the Saints Go Marching In" with every bite. Melt-in-your-mouth good, eyes-roll-back-in-your-head good. I would've licked the plate clean, but with 500 degrees of molten butter, I'd have left Gallagher's looking like a crawfish boil accident victim. Worth it? Maybe. The pampano and mirliton stuffing? Out. Of. This. World. Seasoned like somebody's MawMaw was back there in the kitchen making sure you didn't leave without remembering what real Louisiana food is supposed to taste like. And then there was Desiree Faith. Let me be clear: the food at Gallagher's was phenomenal, but she was the reason the night became unforgettable. Desiree doesn't just serve. She elevates. She embodies. She executes at a level that turns dinner into an experience and guests into family. Serving, when it's done with this much purpose and precision, is not a job. It's a calling. And Desiree is the benchmark. The gold standard. The one every other server in Louisiana should be taking notes from. She read the table like a seasoned conductor leading an orchestra. Every move, every check-in, perfectly timed. She anticipated needs before they became requests, delivered everything with warmth and grace, and carried herself with the kind of presence that makes you feel cared for, seen, and valued. She wasn't just part of the meal. She was the heart of it. Exceptional doesn't even begin to describe it. She made such an impression on me that when the check was signed and the plates cleared, I hugged her. That is the kind of impact she leaves. Gallagher's should be proud beyond words to have her. She is not just a rock star, she is the lighthouse, the benchmark, the living definition of impeccable service. Gallagher's isn't just a restaurant. It's a front-row ticket to Louisiana flavor, hospitality, and soul. You leave full, you leave happy, and you leave knowing you've just been part of something special.
